You garage is so cool. It just gets better every video.
Thanks a lot, one project at a time 🤘
When everyone else says flex, the engineer says moment of inertia.
You could run some steel cable through the posts if you want some extra flare and a bit more protection, just an idea 🤷🏻♂️
I was thinking a bit about that, might need some extra bracketry since the posts are kinda in the wrong orientation for it.
@@Kordare Yep I don't think I would drill the vertical members of the rail for cables. I would look at some way of attaching them on the inside with brackets. I expect your local code says that the current configuration is not in code. Most building codes say something to the effect that the space between "pickets" or "cables" should be no greater than 4 inches. I would also consider putting a dark stained 2x3 horizontally on the very bottom as a kick rail just to keep stuff from rolling off the loft by accident and potentially falling on a person or car.
@@Kordare I was just thinking steel cable would be a cool railing fo the stairs. Just a single cable at the top, or maybe 2 like your railing. Just enough to keep you on the stairs and give a place to run your hand along when going down.
Dude I’m glad I found your channel. I appreciate ya.
Many more projects coming 🙌
Came here because of the Mustang, a dozen episodes later here I am excited about watching a man build a rail on his skate ramp, and I can't even skate.
Same here! Lol
Also loved the dropping of that bit of wood at 6:46, I'd be doing things like that so much if I were doing this project ha!
😂😂
Ur garage looks badass, btw on the wall where the ramps are, u should paint something an art or whatever to the wall
Thanks a lot and yes I agree!
Just a thought maybe a kick plate to stop anything dropping down?
Yeah I think I might add one, thanks for the suggestion!
Watched all your garage videos! A huge inspiration, getting my own garage soon and will defintely use some tips from you! Great videos keep it up man
Appreciate the support and glad to hear that, good luck with yours!
COOL channel, always a great drop , I really enjoy it!
Great space and project to make it even better.
Have you considered a toe board on the railing? It might help prevent a ding to one of the cars if there was anything loose on the loft and it got kicked off. Just a thought as we always have to have them when working on any platforms and it might make sense here.
Love the content bro, excited to see more vids with the BMW
Thanks man! I'm excited to get started on it.
Love it mate!
Thanks 🤘🤘
Looks great!
Thanks 🤘
Love this!! whats next for the workshop area? great video :D
Thanks!! I'm in the middle of a huge fab project right now, next video should be out soon!
What’s your occupation man? Definitely jealous of your setup
I'm a mechanical engineer and own a fabrication business. I really don't make much, it's all about living below your means and saving. Buy assets that appreciate not depreciate.
@@Kordare Just want to echo this advice! Learning the hard way after starting a family. But save your damn money! There is nothing that says you have to use everything you make. Make a habit of putting it away and learn to enjoy the simple life.
@@dariamorgendorffer9017 I bought these cars so cheap I think most have gone up in value. I buy most cars wrecked and fix myself so I usually make money off them. Not to mention my UA-cam channel is built around modifying cars.
Love seeing your vids of doing stuff to your shop. Any more vids in mind for it?
The next project is always on my mind!
New subscriber here. How long did the loft take?
Appreciate it! The loft structure took about 40 hours, railing about 8 hours and stairs probably 10 hours.
Looks cool dude what else you planning on putting up there 🤔 like shelves ?
Honestly not completely sure yet, thought it would be for storage but I really don't need much more storage right now, so maybe just a cool hangout spot?
That sounds cool😎
hey man. i found your channel looking for shop house stuff and i really like your garage. could you tell me what company makes this kit?
Thanks! It actually wasn't a kit, I did the design and found a pole barn company to put it up. The company was quarry view building group
Nice job. What did you use to finish your floor and is it Fuel/chemical resistant?
Thanks! I used surecrete polyaspartic coating and yes it is. I'd suggest doing at least 2 coats.
Good job I think you need dad rails the stairs and anyone tricky for calling as are going up or down stairs
Thanks!
Videos like this, is why I love UA-cam
You should paint the underside of the whole thing white so it gets brighter below it. Good job man. 🤘🏻
That would be a lot of work but would look sweet, thanks!
i like the look of the center post i would add the 2x4 to the rest just for the looks
Nice build my man! Also see Porter Cable 👍
Thanks a lot!
🔥🔥🔥
Please keep these videos coming, theyre pretty awesome.
Much more to come, thanks!
I thought you were going to weld some up but the wood is cool too
I thought about it but wanted to use all my scrap wood. I do have some welding projects coming up though 🤘
Kick plate?
Hi, it’s so awesome, love it, do we need permission from hoa or others to do this? Also, any contractors in Virginia?
Your stairs needs rails now, just a thought,
I thought about it but it would be more in the way than anything else
Definitely goals for sure. I saw your car has a PA license plate. Where do you live?
South Central!
@@Kordare awesome! I’m from Lancaster. If you are ever around let me know. I’d be down to take some shots in with my Z3, 350z and E90
@@tomascortez9799 awesome maybe I'll see you at some meets this year!
Any thought of railing for the stairs?
I've thought about it but it would be more in the way than it's worth
Instead of making more horizontal rails using wood, you should try metal wire, that would look good againt the dark colored wood. Awesome work
Thanks! And yeah I might do that, just will need some bracketry to do it right
9:58, yes you definitely need a toe kick or maybe some kind of expanded metal (attached on the outside of the rail) to add to the safety. The effort now could eliminate the chance of something falling on somebody below later. That's my two cents from years in construction and having to think of accidents to avoid. Railing does look good.
Totally agree and appreciate the feedback!
Love the ingenuity. Hope to see more videos!
Thanks! Definitely more to come 🤘
Dude how many drills do you have?? Came out cleannnnn. As stated by others, I enjoyed when you dropped the wood 🤦♂️
Hahah drills for dayzzzzz. Thanks man.
Great build! I like the suggestion to run cable thru the railings; that might be a way to provide some type of “footboard” to prevent stuff from falling. While you’re at it, run the cable down those stairs! I don’t have the best balance and if you’re carrying stuff up there…oops. But that’s me. Great work, and I have some new ideas for my shop. Thanks for the great video.
I appreciate the suggestions! Thanks!
I think the new safety rail looks awesome but also in the middle of the two eight foot stretches perhaps at another support on each side of the one you put in the center to match and I had further strength and stability can't wait to see what's next on the channel God bless
Thanks! I was thinking I might need that but after everything was done it ended up being super solid
👍👋👋👋😁
Looks great!
Curious, what kind of engineer are you? Mechanical?
Thanks and you are correct!
I know I told you before, but I plan to use your loft ideas for inside my shop. I want a 32' long x 8' deep loft. Just finished my white sheet metal ceiling with 2- 72" ceiling fans. That was a process! But keeps a lot of heat in. Now to safe for the loft / storage area
You should put a couch and mini fridge up there😂
Yessssss
@@Kordare and a TV!!!
love it man ya make it look easy lol but keep up the great content and maybe try saving up for some goodies for the Z3
Thanks man and I am! Gonna pull the trigger soon on some big purchases🤘
Great job bro. Love the color scheme you have going. Can't wait for more mustang content.
Thanks man!
3 1/2 inches will give you enough meat 😂
Love it when people take pride in their work !!
🙌🙌
Just an idea, paint the railing to match your lift
what is it about this man building things so well and such high quality by himself so attractive. like i want to get to know this man
you should do another garage/home tour
great content man. Filmed and edited well. Loved the garage since day 1.
Thanks a lot man! Trying to improve with each video.
Brilliant ! Congratulations ! Cool videos !! And great loft !!
Thanks a lot!
I watched the stair build video tripping on mushrooms in a tent. Laughed my ass off with the hammering.
Watched this one hotboxing.
This is probably the greatest pole barn home ever.
Absolutely dig this.
😂😂😂😂 Thanks man
Definitely gonna give you a follow on IG.
Would have been a perfect video for a muscle shirt!
😂😂
Looking better and better
Love watching your content, solid engineering skills, keep it up!
Looks good man.
Thanks a lot!
Love the railing,
Would add a "Kickboard" tho so stuff cant roll off/fall on to cars unwanted :)
Thanks! I think I might add one!
Kordare would be shame losing a 10mm socket and hitting a carwindow below it 🥵
@@kenneyyyy haha agreed
Amazing ♥️
Thanks!
The top comment is misspelled
Nice job on the railing! I have a question, I have a 2007 BMW 335xi that has a Borla exhaust, it was droning, and a little loud for my comfort, so I put some cheap resonators from Amazon on it, but it still drones, so should I go back to a stock exhaust or some other muffler that is quiet? I want to install little bigger turbos on it in the future so I have heard it needs an aftermarket exhaust, so I'm not sure what to do?
Do you have catless downpipes? That normally causes a lot of drone. I used the vibrant ultra quiet resonator with nothing else on my 135i and it sounded great. Check my 135i playlist for exactly what I did.
@@Kordare no the cats are still there. I looked at those ultra quiet resonators, I'm debating on doing those or just find a factory muffler. Probably whatever is cheaper at this point.
Turned out great my man
Thanks a lot!
Do you live by yourself?
1:28 that's what she said
Sick!
Looks great man, also, how tall and wide is that roll door?
Thanks! 18ft wide x 12ft tall
You're a rockstar!! Love it.
Thanks a lot🤘
I'm still waiting for the quarter pipe on top of the loft with the roll in coming off the loft
Not enough ceiling height to put a ramp up there
@@Kordare Damn... I was just trying to give you ideas since you took your time and did such a good job...
Cool video man, love your content.
Thanks for checking it out!
I always love the way you roll in on your chair in the intros😂
😂😂
Kordare 😂
1/12bh^3
Yes sir!
Clean and well thought out
Thanks!
awesome, not one part meets code almost
Haha yeah I wasnt even attempting to meet any codes. But actually if I just added more horizontals as I mentioned it would be pretty close.
Good work :)
Thanks 🙌🙌
Sweet setup. As a fellow engineer, I'm sure you realize those guardrails are not up to code. But with that said, I would have done the same thing, and included a removable rail section so I could put heavier items up there with my lift/chain hoist/or whatever you have. It looks like you're close enough to the hoist to rig up something.
Haha yeah obviously I wasn't worried about code, would probably just need some more horizontals for it to pass. The biggest thing I'll probably put up there is a couch which shouldn't be too hard to bring up the stairs. Appreciate the feedback!
That railing doesn’t come close to passing code…
No way, wasn't trying to
