Hi mate just been checking this out, on the g chord when your explaining the pattern you say d and b together but it looks and sounds like it’s actually d and e together can’t see the b string moving on the first note of the bar ?
i tend to use my index finger for G string middle for B and ring for high E. is it okay to play that way or was there specific reason you taught that thumb should be used to play 2 strings and index and middle finger should be used on E and B and no use of ring finger?
Hey, I think a lot of the reason for moving the thumb up to the G string is to help with the flow of the pattern. I tend to apply the 1st/2nd/3rd fingers on the G/B/E strings rule when I'm playing over chords that have roots on the E/A strings. Then when a chord comes along with the root on the D string I push it all up, by doing this it means that I don't have to break the flow of the thumb alternating between the bass notes. I hope that makes sense.
Erwin van Dijke It would be referred to as Gmaj7 because it follows the progression of I - Imaj7 - I7 - IV. So in this case we regard it as a Gmaj7 chord just with the root note being omitted. This progression has been used countless times in many forms of popular music.
@@SixStringFingerpicking awesome vids you're an amazing teacher. And your content is free! I think it would help to edit the vid if poss - i spent a day until i figured it out

Hey mate, yeah I've made a mistake there. It's definitely D and E string.

@@SixStringFingerpicking thanks for explaining. i'll try both and see what suits me best.
Yeah, give both ways plenty of practice and then you'll know what's best for you. Good luck! Let me know which one you choose in the end.
Had a full play through after about 45 minutes and now the hard part is singing and playing lol
You say you start D and B together. But is it D and E together?
Gmaj7 is not correct. Is just Bm, without the root, although the B is 4th fret G-string.

Show how to play it with metronome @101
I cannot for the life of me hold down the B and E strings with my index finger without muting the others, my fingers just don’t work like that.
The rhythm of the pattern is so hard for me to sound good
who got a screenshot of the tabs???
Your chord namings are wrong, and you move too fast through the actual chord notes.
Vedder actually skips A and D in the G Chord
very confusing explanation. maybe I'm dumb
I you can do it, it’s quite clear to me just take your time
