I’m a Brit who also moved to the US... The sad break in your voice just got me, when you talked about your decision re what to do after Diana died. You could tell you were heartbroken. But also had so much respect for the Queen and Prince Philip, too. I bet they all loved you. Such a genuine man. And Darren, don’t let anyone tell you that you ramble on. You don’t at all. You have just the right blend of narrative vs instruction. Your stories are so personal, yet never become about you. This week must be very hard for you, given your memories. We all have wonderful memories of people we worked with or for - irrespective of their status in life. Thanks Darren.
Yes, this man is brimming with endless stories I don’t think anything he has said could be classified as rambling? Natural storytelling abilities for sure I feel captivated and soothed at the same time lol
If you ramble, you're a Ramblin' Rose of a man! You're so EASY to listen to, WONDERFUL to watch, and the love of your craft is VERY OBVIOUS, as is the knowledge and SKILLS that you carry with it....ignore negative comments like that! Every ROSE has it's thorns, but who wants to not have a ROSE, thorns or not...thorns are for the protection of one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL of FLOWERS, Darren! Keep up the GOOD WORK!
I instantly got so sad at the Diana question, remembering she's gone, and then hearing you found out while fully anticipating her for dinner just broke my heart. So shocking. I'm sorry you went through that professionally AND personally. *hugs*

Mr. McGrady, as a Texan it is on my bucket list to see you! I love your videos, you warm my heart every time I see you and you make me bawl every time you choked up about Diana. The love you have for her and the boys is obvious. I admire you
Glad you liked Malaysian food. Our country is definitely a melting pot of so many cultures that our variety is just so abundant. Glad you liked our rendang and laksa!

Chef, your gabbing with relish about memories from your days cooking for the Royals speaks eloquently of your kind tribute to them. God bless you! Thank you for sharing!
I love your videos. Your warm personality and sense of humor are so appreciated! No wonder Princess Diana loved you. No aires, honest, down to earth, gentle and respectful. Enjoyed your masked Corgi very much. Stay safe.

Mr. McGrady I have a question for you: did the Queen or any other members of the royal family enjoy eating Indian food? You said that you love cooking Indian food, so you had to have gotten your start somewhere! Thank you for what you do and btw I love the cocktail videos!!!
@@charlesjay8818 hi, indian food can be cooked without garlic and onions.. Still there are Indian communities who strictly forbid the use of garlic and onion.. I love your videos and recipes Darren please keep them up, Your are now my favorite chef, I love cooking very therapeutic, i recently bought your book The royal chef at home, I love your cheery enthusiastic personality.
In another video he was asked if the Royals gave him any gifts. He said he received two gifts (signed photo and cuff links) and both were from Princess Diana. Very telling.
Hey Darren, funny you mention roastchicken, I'm cooking this for myself today, always put a small onion up Inside the bird, plenty of salt and pepper and good quality olive oil, cook for three hours, serve with buttered cabbage, and sage and onion stuffing, with gorgeous onion gravy, yum.. I am glad you answered the question about does the Queen order fast food. Your answer for the most part makes sense, their are plenty of Royal chefs waiting to prepare whatever she desires. I just have a couple of issues with your fish and chips. 1. Batter doesn't need egg 2. Use ale rather than larger 3. The batter needs to be a bit thicker to protect the fish and stop it drying out 4. Hello Darren, i'm from the Netherlands and i was wondering if you ever experienced some dutch 'cuisine'? I think the queen would have enjoyed some of the traditional stuff.
I have a question for you! I went to the Tulip Festival in Holland, Michigan, which features all sorts of things "Holland", festival food being no exception. They were selling something called "Fatballs" (a deep fried puffy pastry, filled with a sort of cream or custard, however my internet research says they are supposed to be filled with raisins). I was wondering if this was something authentic or an American invention. (A diet buster, to be sure, but wickedly good!)
Darlene Bradley nice question! We eat them both with or without raisins. Custard or whipped cream are both options, I like mine with cherries and whipped cream. Most traditional though is with raisins and powdered sugar. We call them ‘oliebollen’ and it’s a tradition to eat with New Years. I hope this answered your question :)
