From "Meanwhile Back At The Whiskey A Go-Go" - my favorite album of Johnnie's. This is my favorite song from that album, with "Work Song" a close second. Great to see it here.

Love this song. I first heard this song when I carnied for Dale Thomas Shows back in the 60's at the Nebraska State Fair. Johnny Rivers is backed here by the bassist Joe Osborne (sp?)
fmazzar yep. Those live albums from the Whisky A Go Go are the best. Raw, unpolished and not over produced. You can feel the energy from the audience almost like being there.

Thank god for the gang on the tape machine. They preserved someting special!
This was great! I liked this better than Mose' version; the driving guitar does it.
Induct into the Rock & Roll hall of fame.

Johnny's live albums at the GoGo are masterpieces of fun and rock .....his Beatle covers are better than the originals...try "I'll Cry Instead"

Check out the Mose Allison for an earlier version with a jazzier and more ironic feel. I think Allision wrote the song, though I'm not sure.
One of his trademarks: UNNNH HA He is the master of the singing "mumble" yet we all get it!
