  • They’ve been called the world’s most trafficked animal you’ve never heard of. Pangolins are notoriously difficult to rehabilitate and release, but one woman in Namibia is getting it right, thanks to lessons learned from one of these scaly anteaters. Meet Katiti!

    My 4 year old Grandson told me all about pangolins a couple of months ago, I had never heard of them before. He'd seen them on "Wild Kratts", knew all about their scales, where they live, what they eat, and that they look like an armadillo and an ant eater! I was shocked at how much he knew about something I'd never heard of!

      RXdash78 Strange ingredients as medicines is actually prevalent in many European cultures prior to the advent of modern medicine. In China you can thank Mao for re-popularising traditional Chinese medicine due to the shortage of doctors trained in science based medicine. What Mao did is comparable to Roosevelt using middle age quack medicine to treat Americas illnesses instead of investing in science based medicine. Traditional Chinese Medicine is just another sad tale in the long list of atrocities committed by Mao.

    Thank you for this video. In 2015 I visited Namibia for 22 days. I fell in love with the Kalahari, Etosha National Park and Khaudun National Park. Even though I was there for three weeks I never did see a single pangolin in the wild. Many people know that these tiny mammals are being exported to China. In just a few decades Pangolins will vanish from Namibia, if these animals are not protected and the export of live Pangolins and body parts of Pangolins are not stopped.

    • @gennyzentella4692
      @gennyzentella4692 4 роки тому +3

      @Lemon Myers Think these beliefs, cultural practices just been passed down from generations, these so-called-cures are scientifically unfounded, but the beliefs continue on. The younger generation are starting to think differently, as they become more aware and informed about climate change, the environment and how desruptive it can be to lose any species, thus altering the balance of the natural ecosystem, which threatens not only the animals but our own existence, and this Pandemic stems exactly from what we are doing to our natural world. We can do so much by educating others, that we should respect life more, and that even animals have rights, too.🐈🐆🐶

      My thoughts exactly, the media continually call it "medicine" which gives it an air of legitimacy. I'm sure there are aspects of Chinese herbal medicine that are medicinal, but tiger bones, rhino horns, pangolins and other animals being called medicine is just wrong, it should be called superstition and witch craft, and that's being kind.

      Wow, I saw it, too, didn't know much about Pangolin, till I saw program, and also saw one in a cage in WuHan wet market on #60 Minutes/Australia, Journalist goes undercover at "wet markets", there the Coronavirus started.
      These markets are like a torture slaughterhouse for animals trafficked from all over the world. You can't help wanting to do something. Been sharing that you-tube video to friends, family whoever will see it, and contacted PETA.com, they are aware of Pangolins and are fighting against abuse and exploitation of any animal. They have petition circulating to put pressure on the World Health Organization (WHO) to shut down all these wet-markets all over cities in Asia, to hopefully stop these Pandemics, otherwise experts are saying there will more than likely be more in the future.🐗🐱🐒🐅
