Loved your content last year, the testing basics is such a great series and I can't wait to see what you test this year. Thank you so much for all the effort. Love this top on you, stunning, and great to see a peak of Percy.
You can figure out how durable a piece is if you can get a tailor to weigh in. They know the stitching used and can recognize the fabric strength. I have taken my investment clothes to a men'swear bespoke tailoring shop in the past and had them tell me the disadvantages. My cobbler made me return so many shoes and has saved me money. When I bought ATP sandals, he laughed at me. And said he will not add the rubber sole because there is no point. My grandmothers generation had this sort of knowledge. And with some experience, we can too. I am gaining it while observing my old clothing that didnt disappoint me.
+To Universe With Love that is such a great idea and something I will definitely look into. You're right in saying certain brands have dreadful quality despite the price tag - which is such a shame! Xx
I need to see more of Percy!!! He is so tiny and grey!!!! His name fits him. He seems like he doesn't want to be alone. He's very inquisitive. Oh I love this series as well.
Testing Basics are my absolute favorite videos and you are my number one favorite person to watch on you tube. I now read Shotfromthestreet which I love!
testing basics is my favorite series on UA-cam ever, ever, ever! this follow up was so great! looking forward to the 2017 testing basics! can't get enough of percy.
I love your style!! I work in an office environment and your style really inspires me to be both office appropriate and still stylish. Please keep sharing your videos with us 😘 love your testing basics series!!
I love this series. I don't watch your other videos that often honestly, but I always click on the testing basics right away. It's such a creative idea. I hope you make enough from the videos to cover the price of more expensive items in these videos!
I appreciate this so much! I've said it before and I'll say it again; you've become my favorite vlogger, youtuber, blogger. Your content is amazing, and I so do think that tiny break sparked your fire again. You mentioned via one of your social medias (snap or insta) that you had been doing some damage online shopping, I'd personally love to see a haul. I also really love the going online shopping with you videos. While I know you won't add more 'tips' as you already gave them, it would be a totally good idea to record when you online shop, and then give reviews/week of outfit in the clothing as you do for testing basics. Just a thought, certainly something I'd love to watch. Thanks again Lizzy! xx
I watch a lot of videos and really love the way you put these together, that you get right to the point (other UA-camrs talk nonsense for so long), and that you pick amazing items. Love these and cant wait to discover more of your content. Thanks!
Got so sad before watching this video since i thought testing basics was ending since you were doing a roundup, so glad thats not the case!! Cant wait to see more! You should do a "testing beauty basics" as well. For example- Red lip stick, mascara, brow products, nail polish etc.
Hi Lizzy, thanks for this bonus video! It's really thoughtful of you and I wasn’t expecting this at all! I must say that you’re my favourite UA-camr since I moved to London one year ago. I recalled last year I was complaining to my friends back home (ie. Hong Kong) that there’s not that much to shop in the UK as I still incline to American brands (where I studied abroad). I think I recognized you from your Testing Basics series (popped up on my UA-cam recommendations). I watched all of them, at least twice if not three times each! Since then, I bought two Uniqlo turtle neck jumpers because of you recommendation. And it’s funny even if some products didn’t rank high up on your list, I fell in love with them after I saw how they look and how you style them in the video (wish I have your taste and height and body shape, even just for one day haha :p). Having that said, I really really love my Topshop Karter Loafer in black. They fit me perfectly (no blister at all!) and I got so many compliments when I wore them, I myself think they are a joy to look at! I never heard of & Other Stories before you mentioned them in your video, I am a fan now! I got a pair of black flat ankle boots in the sale recently, I’m still figuring how to wear them. I also dragged my German friend to visit & Other Stories with me when I was travelling in Berlin and she said if I didn’t drag her, she’d never check it out (maybe it looks too chic and high end, i don’t know really!) I love their jewelries and toiletries too! You did an amazing job introducing different brands to people like me (new to this part of the world). I also read material tags automatically when I shop now which I didn’t care about before… i know!! I am a cat person too so that’s another joy to watch your vlogs :D I should read your blogs more often (added to my to-do-list for 2017!). I really enjoy UA-cam and I absolutely love your channel, indeed a lot more than some big names in the UA-cam fashion scene! I hope you keep it up and THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I didn't even realize you were going to do a video like this about all the testing basics for the year! Another great idea and so thoughtful :) Thank you Lizzy! Also, I remembered you purchased a pair of simple black heeled boots over vlogmas while you were with your friend and raved about them loads. Do you like them more than the pair you rated #1 during the testing basics series?
+Shivani T ohhhh the Jil Sander ones? They're much higher then the Topshop heeled ones, so not as great for doing a lot of walking in. But yes, I absolutely do recommend them! They're so comfy and look amazing with everything. Will be talking about them a little more in my video next week! Xx
hi Lizzy! I absolutely adore your testing basics series! so glad you'll be doing more of these :) quick question.. your jeans/trousers always seem to be much shorter than ankle length. do u specifically opt for a shorter length or is it because of how tall you are? I quite like the look on you :)
This video is just so helpful and you can tell you put effort in testing all those basics and it's just an amazing idea to sum up your experience with every section after a while! I just stumbled upon your channel and I am just really impressed, seriously! :)
Liszzy, Happy new year ! I enjoyed this video and I'm looking forward to seeing more of these. I've been looking for a good hat ( fedora type, like the Saint Laurent - Rag and Bone and Topshop make pretty good ones too if I remember correctly) recently and I was wondering if you might do a testing basics on hats. I have a lot of hats (inexpensive ones and ones I've gotten as gifts) and seem to wear them often so I'm thinking of investing in a better quality one - or more. Anyway, happy new year again - hope you have a great year this year, Sue
Loved this video because I got to hear more about the longevity of the items. So happy to hear that about the comme des garcon t shirt! Definitely going to get one because I wear t shirts all the time and I want to get some that will last. And I loved the Isabel marant blazer, so sad to hear that you didn't wear it as much.
The top lizzy wears throughout this video features the traditional Palestinian keffiyeh print. The top is also made by a European brand which exclusively sells clothing featuring this print. It’s important to know what the clothes we buy and wear represent, and the brand hasn’t acknowledged the history of the print, so I will: The keffiyeh print is a symbol of the Palestinian uprising against Israeli settlement and colonialism. Specifically, it is a reminder of the war in 1948 which made refugees of the Palestinian people. Those refugees still live in camps in Lebanon. For Palestinians, “the keffiyeh is a reminder of “dispossession, systematic displacement, extrajudicial killings [and] oppression”. Internationally, it is “most associated with the Palestinian quest for self-determination. It has long been worn by those wishing to express solidarity...” I hope you can see how the use of this print by designers for personal gain and without the context of its origin is irresponsible and exploitative. “There are concerns that its connections with the Palestinian struggle are being diluted and exploited... it loses its original meaning and, with that, it normalises the occupation”. “It’s current co-option coincides with difficult times in the Palestinian struggle - the persistent humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the approval of thousands more illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.” www.theguardian.com/fashion/2019/aug/09/the-keffiyeh-symbol-of-palestinian-struggle-falls-victim-to-fashion
I almost cried at how cute Percy looked behind you when you were showing those Acne boots! Can't wait to see more of this video series! I also really love your online shopping videos, hopefully you'll make more of those whenever you feel like shopping online ahaha Your channel, your blog and your personality are my favourites and I can't wait to see everything that you have planned for 2017!
I like the honesty you gave the Acne Jensen boots because people rave, rave, rave about them and swear by them. I've been eye balling them for a few years (but couldn't get used to that price tag) and finally found a dupe from Marc Fisher for around $180 (or £150) and they've never given me nasty blisters or have rubbed my ankles the wrong way. For their price difference I'd say they're a good dupe however, the leather on them loosens very quickly and I find that my toes push into the point and I can't walk in them for too long because of it. I save them for shopping days or nights out and wouldn't recommend them for trotting around all day. But they've worn just as well as the Acne ones and still look really beautiful even though I've had them for a year! And they have an insane selection of colors and suede versions, too. Just thought I'd throw out another option for an Acne Jensen-like boot that doesn't put your feet through the wringer :D
This was a great video Lizzy! Thanks for all the updates! Can I ask what size you took in the blouse you're wearing? I see there's a size 1 and 2. Thank you!!
Definitely my most favorite videos to watch (especially shoes)! Would you ever do handbags? I know you love your Fendi bag right now but that would be an interesting one to see because I struggle a lot with trying to decide if I should spend more on a bag or not. Can't wait to see what you do with this series in 2017!!!
The cat is so cute!!!! Your Testing Basics serie give me life honestly, I'm always excited when I see it on my notification. I would love to see one on partywear or on little black dress, but you could do one on socks and I would be happy lol. Thank you for the wonderful content!
+Chacha Maru thank you! hahahaha socks would actually be a useful one!! I'm thinking of doing an evening one soon, one for winter and one for summer maybe! Xx
Definitely on my 30th hit list! Although I may have just treated myself to some of the flat ballerina versions of Valentino Rockstuds....so may invest in some Gucci's when my Mango loafers go kaput ! xx
I was chillin, watching and enjoying the video. Listening to what you were saying about the black boots... then... BAM! Cutest little thing in the world prances in shot! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!
Love your vids! Your channel was my 2016 discovery! So glad to see more of these in depth hauls and try ons, especially when it is on basics - which is all I ever wear to be honest :) all the best for 2017!
I can't wait for more of these videos. I really love them and I have learned so much on what items to maybe invest in. Just a question, do you think maybe the more expensive ones were worn more often because they are expensive and you had already bought them? It seems like you recommended the less expensive ones, but you wore the expensive ones more often. Not for everything of course. Thank you lizzy! Excited for this year!!❤
Your vlogs are one of my faves! Love the Testing Basics roundup! Question: you had a pair of shoes that lost a heel, Valentinos maybe? Did you get them back? Were they repaired to your satisfaction? Good to see that little handsome Percy make an appearance
Love your testing basics and vlogs so much! fashion hack: put a looseleaf binder ring through the hole in the zipper tab, then put the jeans on, pull the zipper up and hang the binder ring around your Jean button. Then you button up as usual and the ring will not be visible.
Do you still wear those Oxblood-red Jigsaw loafers? And if so, how did they hold up? I just got them in black but am a bit unsure about their quality (and 200 euros is a lot of money to me)
I really enjoy your series of testing basics!! Just one thing. Some high street brands you featured in your videos are not globally available, they are mostly in Europe or in the UK. Hope to see you feature more accessible brands such as Zara, H&M, Mango and etc. Love from Thailand
I love these testing basics videos cant wait for more of them this year ! but all the shoes i can only admire because i have really odd feet long but wide so i struggle with shoes :/
I'd love to be sophisticated enough to wear a white t-shirt and keep it clean. I'd have that on 2 minutes before I spilled something on it. Happy New Year .
I may be a bit late, but I have a tip for the Urban Outfitters jeans with the fly problem. If you take a key ring, and put it on the end of your zipper, when you zip your pants you can place it over the top button, and then button your pants. No more fly falling down problems, and it literally is so easy. Can't even tell there is a key ring there.
@@LizzyHadfield hey Lizzy, this brand is actually far from amazing. The whole concept for their clothing is centered around the keffiyeh print. That print is a symbol of Palestinian resistance against Israeli aggression and settler occupation. The fact that the brand uses the print would be fine if their profits didn’t rely solely on stealing a symbol of cultural heritage and painful rebellion (they don’t really do any other style, do they?), or if they would at least come out and say something about their inspiration or about the conflict. Cultural appropriation is one thing, but profiting off of and watering down a symbol of war, anti-colonialism, and of the struggle of occupation is much worse. I know it’s been 4 years, but I guess adding a comment can’t hurt. The Wikipedia article on keffiyeh print is a solid source if you are interested.
Love the Acne Jensen boots.....but even more adorable was the kitten who made an appearance during your mod pics. Can you do a video on how you can style the Acne boots?
Hi there, I just stumbled on your video of rating skinny jeans and I am really eager to try the Weekday brand but the exact pair is completely sold out from ASOS and the brand itself doesn't ship to the U.S. Do you know if ASOS has in the past restocked these specific model and brand of jeans? Thanks
Hey Lizzy! A way to stop your jeans fly falling down is to put a keyring through the zip and then loop the keyring up over the button of your jeans before buttoning your jeans up! :)
Percy photo bomb! I know it's not your thing but I do wish I could see a testing basics on vegan/non-leather items like shoes/purses/jackets. It's so hard to find really "real" looking, good textured vegan items...and there *are* more and more people looking for them.
My problem with the comme de garcon tees is the red logo. I don't do color so that red heart would annoy me to no end. I love this series though. It is the reason I subbed :) I have both the Isabel marant etoile blazer and mid-length blazer/coat in grey from the same collection as your yellow blazer/coat :)
You just saved me a pile of money! I was about to go out and invest in an expensive pair of skinny jeans because I'm tired of needing to replace jeans every 9 months. Going to try out Weekday instead!
I love these videos so much! So weird that your Acne boots rubbed so much, mine were the comfiest things ever from first wear! Though that could just be the suede ones, I'm wearing the white leather ones today so I bet they'll be horrific haha

Omg the best ending ever with the kitty
Love this series of videos. Can't wait for more this year.
Love your work Lizzie!! Percy is adorable too
what camera and Or lens do you use on your videos? looks amazing!
Love your testing basics and vlogs so much!
fashion hack: put a looseleaf binder ring through the hole in the zipper tab, then put the jeans on, pull the zipper up and hang the binder ring around your Jean button. Then you button up as usual and the ring will not be visible.
Need to pick up some jeans from urban outfitters and weekday, never considered either of the brands before for denim
Do you still wear those Oxblood-red Jigsaw loafers? And if so, how did they hold up? I just got them in black but am a bit unsure about their quality (and 200 euros is a lot of money to me)
Wow, love this video! Was recommended and watched the whole thing. I'm kind of new to fashion and this video is really helpful!!
This is the ultimate video and this is my favourite series of videos on UA-cam ever - I love it! xxx
I really enjoy your series of testing basics!!
Just one thing. Some high street brands you featured in your videos are not globally available, they are mostly in Europe or in the UK.
Hope to see you feature more accessible brands such as Zara, H&M, Mango and etc.
Love from Thailand
OMG Lizzy, the caaaaaat! I also have the acne boots, and I have to tell you I then got the office version of them. Much more comfy.
loveee testing basics, and loved hearing the updates!! xx

This serie is so great!

+Jenny Makin thank you! yep it's linked in the description, it's a gorgeous top and an amazing brand! Xx
Fav videos to watch and watched all of them!

Love the Acne Jensen boots.....but even more adorable was the kitten who made an appearance during your mod pics. Can you do a video on how you can style the Acne boots?
Can't wait to see what your channel brings in 2017! X
Thanks
WHO ELSE SAW THE KITTEN!?!?? SO CUTE
Where is the sweater you're wearing from?
Hey Lizzy! A way to stop your jeans fly falling down is to put a keyring through the zip and then loop the keyring up over the button of your jeans before buttoning your jeans up! :)
omg! love the round up....but especially at 17:17!
How do you NOT have more followers?!? I LOVE your videos!
Percy photo bomb!
I know it's not your thing but I do wish I could see a testing basics on vegan/non-leather items like shoes/purses/jackets. It's so hard to find really "real" looking, good textured vegan items...and there *are* more and more people looking for them.
percy is to die for!
My problem with the comme de garcon tees is the red logo. I don't do color so that red heart would annoy me to no end.
I love this series though. It is the reason I subbed :)
I have both the Isabel marant etoile blazer and mid-length blazer/coat in grey from the same collection as your yellow blazer/coat :)
I love your style! More fashion videos please!
You just saved me a pile of money! I was about to go out and invest in an expensive pair of skinny jeans because I'm tired of needing to replace jeans every 9 months. Going to try out Weekday instead!
Best youtuber ever!!!❤️ love testing basics
+joanna rehnberg thank you so so much!x
I love these videos so much! So weird that your Acne boots rubbed so much, mine were the comfiest things ever from first wear! Though that could just be the suede ones, I'm wearing the white leather ones today so I bet they'll be horrific haha
