As a person with quite some experience with working in a corporate environment, I feel the need to clarify that Lizzy's interpretation of the smart-casual dresscode would not be suitable for most corporate offices. However, it is perfectly fine for drinks or other non-professional evening or daytime events and perhaps for work in some of the more creative offices.
My exact thoughts as well when I saw the thumbnail, though I'm here to watch it anyway because I really like Lizzy. I think there's a lot of misconception (esp with style bloggers perhaps) that just throwing a blazer over a mini dress will make it work appropriate etc. It doesn't. Unless you work in a "creative environment".
Elena Tazeeva I know I am two years late lolll but smart casual and corporate are not the same. This is very smart casual. I might have missed the part where she said it was corporate?
@@WeekendsWithG Yeah, I agree. It also depends on which type of corporate and which city. There's tech, creative, creative staffing, etc. where this looks great. I worked in corporate office, downtown ATX, and everywhere you looked, smart casual was the thing to wear even in more traditional corp industries.
As software developer I can wear anything I want. Even in corporate. It really depends on the position you have.
@@victoria1936 corporate is not really a dress code. Corporations may use dress codes like business casual, smart casual or business informal. When no dress code is imposed, you can go for casual. The ideea is that a CEO will wear business informal(suit), team managers will wear SMART CASUAL(which is always long sleeve and good materials, no jeans though) and regular employees will wear BUSINESS CASUAL(can be short sleeve, even t-shirt, but mandatory collar like pollo t-shirt). Employees not dealing with public, they will wear casual(jeans and whatever you see in the video above). This is the formal hierarchy. It would be too beautiful if these bloggers would really know the theory as well. Cheers!
Love this! Most of these wouldn't work for business casual in a corporate environment (no jeans, t-shirts, tank tops) but I love how I could mix and match pieces to create something really stylish and appropriate!
PLEASE DO THIS TYPE OF VIDEO MORE OFTEN! I FREAKING LOVE,YOU HAVE JUST INSPIRED ME SO MUCH ! I love wearing smart clothes even at high school so for me it's super super helpful! Love uuuu
Maybe you've done it before but could you do a video for wedding guest outfits that aren't the usual "coast dress" option. Ideas for a slightly cooler option. Thanks so much- love love love your content.
Aine Glennon Yes, great idea! Would love to see ideas for different types of weddings, more formal/ informal and different seasons. Got an autumn wedding coming up and need some inspiration!
Fantastic video Lizzy ! So helpful and confirms that I'm on the right track - I'm a bit older (ahem, a lot older probably !) but I worry about being 'age appropriate' at the same time as being smart, stylish, modern, comfortable and all the rest and your modern fresh ideas really help me to think more about putting looks together. I love that you wanted to use existing items you own without the need to buy more or have viewers worrying about buying new stuff. Also agree with some other comments here saying they love the fact you don't have the same old stuff every other youtuber is buying/wearing, gawd, they all look the same, even their homes ! Don't ever lose your individuality Lizzy, you have a great sense of style and creativity. Finally, would love if you got together with Paul Smith for a little something !!
Can I just say how much I love you for not pairing the 4th outfit with a gucci belt :) or the fact that you dont have 12 louis vuitton bags, or a chanel boy bag.., I could go on...(how many more youtubers are we going to watch that go after the latest it thing and not one of them saying "hang on, everybody's doing it, maybe I should try to inject some personality into my style"). I will always love your style, (even though it may not always be my exact taste) because you are different, you have personality and a great sense of style at such a young age ❤️
Mine Derince in
I second this :)
Mine Derince agree
Love this and all the detail you went into Lizzie. I'm still at uni but also work in a gallery and work events so this have given me some great ideas/options! Thanks for sharing, much love 😊 x
You deserve so much more subscribers, not only your style is impeccable and chic, but your videos have such a special vibe that makes me feel at ease, I just drink my tea and get inspired
I feel like this outfits would work for dressy casual in college, at least in my university this would work amazing, like you wanna show you care how you look but not too much effort.
Always inspiring! I understand what you mean when you say sexy without revealing much skin or having to wear tight clothing -- I think the same way!
Good to see 'the box' is still alive and well Lizzy!
I live in a good blazers for the vintage or men's department!
KarenBritChick Lizzy and you are my absolute faves! Both have amazing taste :)
KarenBritChick h&
so thrilled to see so many long line blazers in stores lately because they're so versatile being styled for more office environments and regular life
Love your videos ~ how about a series with you & your Mom showing age appropriate versions of different clothing types? I like your style but am closer to your Mom's age so sometimes your style is too young for me & I wonder how to adapt it to my age so I don 't look like I'm trying to be 25 again! Or if you think you both could wear the same items, how about showing those on each of you maybe styled a little differently?
That’s a great idea, sounds really fun🙂
Oh my god, the massimo dutti silk blouse and weekday black trousers outfit is beyond beautiful! ❤️❤️❤️ Also loved the Paul Smith trousers outfit! 💞 Love your style as always Lizzy! 💞
I like a collar with body, too. Try ironing that collar with two applications of spray sizing (not starch, it’s a pain). In the US we have a wonderful brand called Magic Sizing, I do all my cotton shirts with it, it makes them crisp, but soft, and it doesn’t scorch like traditional starch. New, unwashed clothes are treated with some sort of sizing, that’s what makes them look so good, and it’s so easy to reapply this finish when ironing.
Loved this video! Thanks to you I've totally gotten into long line blazers as well, maybe you could do a video of your fav ways to style them?
Edith Riegler Agree! Especially how to wear them with dresses, without looking too formal.
Have you thought about doing testing basics with pumps? I think it could be a great one (perhaps you could include the Valentino Tango pumps or something similar?) ❤
The black trousers arent unflattering at all!!!!! In fact i think is the most flattering piece of what you shown, your waist line really looked pretty on those
Love how you styled each outfit ! ❤️
EXACTLY the video I was looking for! So glad you did it, you've given me some great ideas! Thank you so much for sharing!
Have a job interview tomorrow with a retail brand, and was told to dress smart casual. This was a much needed video, couldn't have come at a more perfect time. Thank you Lizzy! x
Hi Lizzy. Love your channel! Just a little trick I'm often using: I find a lot of shirts are quite flimsy so I use Starch spray to stiffen the collar and placket. It works well and looks great.
Just catching up on old videos and I adore all of these outfits, fourth one was my fave! Can't wait to wear normal clothes again!!
What's great about your statement skirt is that you can keep it right into your 50+ years and just stitch the high slits to something lower or close it altogether and it'll still be fab statement.
Lizzy if you want a stiffer collar on the & other stories shirt, try mixing up a paste of powder washing detergent and water, then brushing it into the collar and letting it set for a short while before putting it in the machine! :) should come out v clean and more structured!
Your hairstyle in this is really flattering.
I am delighted with anything at the beginning of a season that doesn't require more shopping. Lizzy you've aced this, and I'm grateful for the possibilities that don't involve overt sexiness or designer brands.
always so so in love with your style! love how unique it is
Would be great to see a vid for how to style midi skirts / dresses for winter (day then night). A wishlist maybe focusing on certain brands or items of clothing (eg coats). Also how you put an outfit together, especially when you have 1 item that you want to wear and want to base the rest of your outfit on? I hope that makes sense! Thank you, you are v inspiring x
Love all the outfits! Your look is so inspirational - classic yet stylish
Please please please could you do a video on styling black tops?! I have to wear black tops a lot and really struggle styling them, other than just with blue denim 🙈 really admire your style and would love some advice! xx
Loving the understated "unflattering sexy" that's not so obvious, relying on the attitude of the wearer more than the fit of the clothing being worn. Inspired to take that intention into my wardrobe!
Great video lizzy! Simple, classic and with pops. Also, how about a wrap blouse testing basics?
Such interesting and effortlessly chic style. As always!
Hi Lizzie, Would love to see a video with an overview of the A/W 2017 trends and which you will and won't be adopting and for the ones you will, how you plan to style them or any key pieces on your shopping list. Thank you!
Love all of this Lizzy!
Remember how you did the denim diet video (when you put together outfits sans denim) you could do a black diet video - plan outfits sans the color black 😄
I only suggest this as I am currently trying to wear more color myself as we in the southern hemisphere head into spring. ❤
Lizzy hey! I absolutely love your channel and your style is impeccable ! Please keep up the good work
You to lovely, where are you from?
Thank you for showing these outfit ideas loved the video. Outfit 5 for sure is what I will say is casual can even swap the backless shoe even with trainers. I also agree with oversized clothing to and statement trousers xx
Love this I work in corporate but it’s not a Rigid stuffy environment so this is right up my alley
I am so so in love with your style ! Thank you for posting such great videos for us trying to find our own style
sucks that i cant wear these to work in a corporate environment but theyre cute to go out in !!
Thank you for this video, I needed a lesson in smart-casual! ❤️
Thanks so much for this video, Lizzie! I loved it and it's so so helpful! I'm finishing my masters dissertation in two weeks (eek!) and will (hopefully) be starting a job and this has given me lots of inspiration to help me through that awkward uni to work wardrobe phase. Xxxx
totally understand what you described the effortless and oversized "sexiness". Great looks.
Your legs are to die for and that old fashioned chest in the background...😍 lovely video X
Love this video. Thank you for using cassic items. I get so tired of the half tuck and the gucci belts..those r cool and wearable however its nice that someone is being creative.
white shirt a blue denim was stunning! x
Hi Lizzie! I loved this video! It really gave me some outfit inspiration for some events I've got coming up. I can't wait to see what you do with fall styling (I'm SOOOO into it already). My faves are definitely the statement skirt outfit, and the one with the Massimo Dutti blouse. So chic! I think we're getting to that weird phase of the weather now where some people are full on fall, wearing coats and fur and stuff, and others are still wearing t-shirts. It's quite hard sometimes to do the transition, so I'd love to see how you would suggest and style fashion for transition of seasons. Especially because, there were some really statement pieces this spring/summer that apparently you can carry onto fall (and you want to, because you spent money on them), but I'm not sure how to style them yet. For instance, and I went biiiiiiiig into loafers. I even got some velvet ones, that kind of pull a bit more of a fall vibe. And i've seen them on runways for fall. But...I'm not sure about loafers with socks...? I'm not sure I want to get my feet wet either but... I guess it's really a matter of styling and making it work. So, I'd love to see what sort of ideas you would come up with in that sense. Thank you so much, and have a great day!***
Basically thrift for large pants/trousers of which colour can be anything that is in the movie "Her (2013)", wear them far past your hips all the way to your belly button, and make sure you got the shirt tucked in before hand which might I add should be a greyscale color such as black, white, grey.
Right? Right? Or am I wrong and in the wrong comment section of youtube? Thanks you
Love this video and really appreciate that you used clothes that you already have.
Loved this video. Would love it if you did a business version of this. I really struggle with looking fashionable and unique while being professional at the office. Hope you're well!
White shirt and jeans look, such a classic and stunning 💗💗
these were all so great!! 🌸
wordy video request for you here- at my work (im at a third wave coffee shop) we've recently had t-shirts banned to bump up our image. i'm a total dolt and don't know how to make an everyday outfit without one. so- could you make a video on something like "a week without tees" that's still day to day wear? looking forward to whatever else you have in the bag!
Love all your UA-cams!!! You are the epitome of smart casual!! Well done :)
hey lizzy
loved the idea of this video.it's very helpful especially for a hijabi like me since you don't show a lot of skin it's easy for me to adapt the outfits you suggest to my needs.not to mention that ur style is impecable.
thank you and can you please do a video on how to style cullotes for colder weather.
thank you so much and keep on the good content. xoxo
Hello Lizzy I always enjoy watching your videos and appreciate the effort you make with your content. Please can I suggest a trench coat testing basics x
You inspired me to buy my first longline blazer - I had to borrow mums credit card cause I'm a student. But so worth it!
Love you videos
I'm loving London Lizzi! Can almost see you getting more confident and independent and content each video.
Love them all. The jacket from the last one is beautiful
Such a great vid, what a queen! Was thinking I would love a video about layering up for the colder months :-) I'm an Italian gal living in Glasgow constantly freezing and looking for ways to stay warm but also look fashionable haha
Oh my goodness I adore that last look!xxx
Absolutely loved this... my style to a t.... but I love your take on it
Love your videos Lizzie, you're just fab. I am in desperate need for a new black longline blazer. Do you have an updated alternative for your Jigsaw treasure? Would also loove to see how you would put together several smart/dressy outfits paired with flat shoes. Xx
thanks for another great video! i love those weekday trousers with the snot-green-yellow shirt! Would love to see a video on how you manage your shopping finances, this is something I think about a lot, being quite the avid shopper :p
For me It’s tank top, cupped jeans, BAREFOOT
Love these looks Lizzy! I have a similar style vibe to you and really feel most confident when I'm wearing smart-casual looks with blazers, shirts and tailored trousers :)
Obsessed with your style atm ! Great video !
I find this a really tricky style, as I don’t find jeans at all comfortable, and don’t wear heels over about 2.5 inches high. Smart casual looks aren’t comfortable at all, really. During my career (I’m retired), my office was very formal corporate, and that style is really easy. Mixing styles was the biggest fashion NO in those decades. I love silky midi skirts, but am always struggling with ways to dress them down and not just reach for a silk blouse, as I always have. I don’t always want to wear a white t-shirt and it doesn’t look that great with the darker skirts, or a denim jacket. A matching lightweight sweater is one of my usual looks with these skirts, but finding the colors I want is tricky. I would appreciate any tips, I really am a skirt/dress gal. I wish we could still dress smart smart, not smart casual.
I love this idea but that first dress is FAR too short for a business casual office. I'm not aiming to looking "sexy" at the office, I'm just trying to meet office code.
Great outfits 👍 love the chartreuse silk shirt and black trousers, very smart nothing unflattering at all about it 👠
Hi Lizzie! My name is Karen and I love these smart outfit ideas .❤️This was so inspiring and you are always an effortless beauty !
Great video! I would love, love, love it if you would do sweater dresses 😘
Love the one with the green silk shirt. Gaaah looks amazing on you!!
Love love your style girly x
I honestly get excited when i see you upload!! I love this video x
oversized blazers are staple for every girl!!
The second outfit is the classy British lady look.
We love dressing like that here in Scandinavia, Lizzy, as I'm sure you know. Pernille Taisbæk just released her book in English, where she talks a lot about this effortless sexiness. It's irresistible, I think. Love your style
Yay Im so glad you did this video! Also yes to all the outfits. If I had money to spare I would definitely be buying that skirt! x
Your style is so fab!
Hi Lizzy, thank you for very useful tips. I have just started a new job where I have to look smart casual, definitely going to be receŕeating one fo your looks.
PS: I really admire you for being able to carry on after all those uneasy things you were going through.
Lots of love from the Czech rep xo
Thanks for the inspirations! Keep them coming! ... may be you can do a similar video for winter :) xx
Hi Lizzy!
I discovered your channel while searching for reviews of the Gucci loafers. I stumbled upon your testing basics video and I've been a subscriber ever since! I even went back and watched all the testing basics videos as well as Vlgomas. I think you have the best personality! Thank you so much for sharing tidbits of your life with us! :) I loved this video and I thought I'd leave some ideas for some more, as per your request ;)
- Styling over the knee boots. I seem to wear them the same way over and over --> with sweater dresses and that's about it.
- Styling a trench coat. I always use them out of necessity and not as an option to style up an outfit. I wonder if you could master up a cool way to add them in. But maybe I should just invest in a cooler trench to begin with :P
- You've got me thinking about purchasing a long line blazer! So how bout a testing basics on that, as well as some styling ideas on a versatile one, such as the black one?
- And lastly a challenge, to wear an item all week (i'd go with something easy, like shoes or maybe something a bit more daring like a scarf - maybe something smaller and silky?) and the numerous ways to style an outfit around it - sometimes making the piece the focal point, while other times letting it fade to the background. As I was typing this I was thinking of wearing the silky scarf as a neck piece, as a belt, as a tie on a handbag... you get the idea :)
I'm curious and anxious for your next video! I'm wishing you a lovely week!
TwistedFoolPT Lizzy has an over the knee boot video she did a long time ago but it's so well done and the outfits look so fresh that it's still good for inspiration! One of the best styling videos I've seen, hands-down.
Thank you! I just searched for it and you're totally right, the styling is just spot on! Thanks again for the tip!
I love her british accent
Lizzy, you always have the best style and ideas! ❤️
I love your style and your apartment
You're amazing you have the best style!!!
These are really nice, beautiful, presentable outfits, but I don't find them sexy, I find them rather guarded. But I think that's a good way to be for smart casual.
Her face look so intelligent.I dunno why!
Great video, thanks! What about the ankle boots you teamed up with the first outfit?
deffo needed this for work experience
Style goals 💙
Alkl great looks! Only remark I have is with the first: it's very very nice, but I would only wear it with tights because it is also very very short :p
Winner must be the 3rd look, at 7:20, smoking! :p
I will have Christmas party, and smart casual is dress code. But I whant to wear a midi dress. I whant to be sexy but classy and casual. What cut dress and COLOUR would be ok??? Please help me
The Weekday jeans is perfect, but which model is it? Unfortunately, the link only goes go the whole jeans category on the shop!
Great video :) how is the sizing of the Weekday jeans? Thanks
Hey! Which Weekday jeans are those? :)
What size are your Weekday jeans? :)
THANK YOU
