It is a Scott Spark copy for sure, from a reputable chinese brand doesn't mean it is bad quality! I bet it performs and last same as the real deal! Cheers!
If u had to guess the Scott spark is made in the same factory and there were extras, or they did not want to get rid of old the carbon molds and custom machinery.
@@mtb_mechanic That's a really hopeful situation. A lot of these chinese products are literal copes but with worse materials. Gotta be real careful - you can never find out what the carbon quality actually is without destructive investigation.
@@mtb_mechanic Or, maybe they were excess from scott stock but these are the frames that failed inspection and were rejected. Tough to ever know.
what he meant was if trifox makes scott spark for scott spark
Bike companies and computer companies just buy stuff in China, its probably the same frame, its all marketing.
I have a Trifox carbon hardtail that cracked on the drive side chain stay. I contacted Trifox and they asked for photos. I sent them the photos they asked for and they replaced my frame. So they do back up their products.
thanks for that INFO broskie
How much do you weigh? were you jumping it over downhilll jumps?
@@williammorris6097 I weight 165. I wasn’t jumping it. Just XC/Trail riding. I am sure it was a defect in the frame. They looked at the photos and determined to warranty it. I have not had any issues with the replacement.
@@jeffbergford4724 thanks for the clarification. Hope you have a great time on the replacement. I own a 27.5 medium Chinese carbon frame that I built up and raced while living in north Thailand. It's been in over 50 xc races without a single issue and put me on the podium at the Thai nationals three years in a row in my age group. Needless to say I've been quite satisfied and plan to build up another Chinese frame in the next year or so.
it is safe for now guys,
I'll update you guys about this if something happens to it,
cheers !🎈
@mcmtb when a Chinese brand make a carbon bike they won't design their own frame as its much more expensive to design the frame moulds and carbon sheets so they will use a frame mould that they already have i.e. one that Scott designed
Good point
Hopefully you get get use and it all works out. but I have worked with composites before and quality is a big deal. China does not regulate their products like other companies do, since their laws don't make them. This guy learned the hard way ua-cam.com/video/VZHWi2Ou5U8/v-deo.html
Can share link where ubuy the frame?
Were is that beautiful and mystical place? My god its beautiful
Good video!! I've been using Chinese frames for a while, I've never had any problems, here in Brazil it's an excellent option
My be that it IS the Scott Spark. wouldnt surprise me if the factory had a contract to build the frame for them. Nice vids btw :-) Appreciate you sharing your experiences.
It’s also the supplier for American Eagle bikes, the Flow model. Great frame! Nice build.
I am totally impressed about that carbon Chinese frame, I have a Scott spark and the frame and geometry are identical (except the price of course)…. Your bike looks amazing……
Great videos bro…..
I like to see the face of guys doing unboxing and realizing they paid 3X the price for a inferior `western` shit
Most of the big name bikes are made in china.
true
In the same factories.
It's not about manufacturer, it's on the laminates on these fabrics like carbon and glass fabrics with some resins become too brittle to absorbs shearing shocks, so they succumb and shear off fast
China and Taiwan. There are some really dodgy Chinese frames, but there's also some really good ones, just have to do a bit of research.
yo dawg, you're good. People are haterz but you really can't find significant amounts of cracked chinese bikes anymore than production MTB. I've been riding mine for almost a year and I've gone through wheels, cranks, and tires, but the frame is rock solid. Keep on keepin on dude!
Thanks my man
i think they got the geometry from the scott spark
Exactly what I thought 🤔
pretty clear they stole the design lol
Rumor is that some of those China carbon factories that produce major brands (like Scott) secretly use the same molds to produce off market frames they sell out the back door without permission of the major brand. Or that when a major brand shift’s manufacturer plants the old plant keeps the mold and continues to produce the frame as an off brand.
This frame could possibly be from a Scott spark mold but produced and sold as a grey market off brand.
Yes that is probably true, i've watched a video about this frame when it came out and that guy said that it is very similar but not 1-1 copy of the spark
This is standard operating procedure in alot of Chinese manufacturing. Not just bike manufacturering.
this is no rumor. That is how things operate in China. those OEM firms build the same things and then put their own brands on. So everything is just the same . but you take the risk of poorer QC
They may look identical but it's not of the same quality the way it was built.
@@ratrace8646 how is it not the same quality when it's the same factory that makes it for the actual brand name company...🤔
Trifox seem to be a fairly reputable Chinese brand from all accounts
I’ve heard from someone that big bike companies buys the design from bike manufacturers and brand it as their own. This saves them the r&d and earns tons of money. That may be a scott spark.
I'm sure they are the factory that builds the Scott Spark. It's a very nice bike.
So I bought the same wheelset (think I mentioned that I got the same problem with the hubs as you did). Recently, JGBike has made a new hubset and it's an exact fit for that wheelset. Had my LBS check it out and we were pretty impressed with how smooth the bearings are and how good the engagement is. Still within my first 100mi so only time and trails will tell how good it is over time. But if you can, look it up. Very nice and cost effective hubs for those WTB rims. 6 pawls, 104 engagement.
Always awesome Mark!! Keep it up.
Thanks Broskie
matagal na akong naghihintay! mahusay na video 👍
I think that bike is more classified as a “trail” bike. It has a slacker head tube, typically 120-130mm of travel, and is targeted for fun and playful trail riding. XC bikes typically have a steep head tube angle, 100mm of travel, and is targeted to XC racing.
98% of people who say they ride XC are actually doing trail riding and would be better suited with a trail bike. I’ve seen your riding on the channel and your definitely more of a trail rider than XC racer. This bike suits your riding style better.
Really nice bike.
I know late reply to this, can Enduro bike be as fun? I'm looking to build an enduro bike though unsure to trust Chinese on that but so good for extreme to less than, so hope fun with trials too
i am always excited to see your new video when you upload.
I bought a carbon seatpost thats come with titanium bolts under 130 grams from Aliexpress, yeah i was worried but had great reviews. Now 9 months later still holding up great way worth the 18 bucks for it.Try to get any name brand carbon seatpost itll cost uou easy over a 100 bucks.
rear triangle by the axle is very different from a Scott spark, oncluding the models from 2017-2020
Modern down country bike is 65ish head angle and 130mm or so fork
Own an OG-Evkin chinese carbon hardtail frame and wheelset, paired with GX groupset, oval 36T chainring and Lord it's killing anyone who joins me in trail or even road. about 300km logged since Chirstmas last year and still feeling really good about it. Hope it lasts for years.
800km and so far, so good
@@youturn914 update ??
the frame authentic carbon and how does this frame perform ??? It is this frame sturdy for jumping from downhill or track
@@wanabdullahwansulaiman5656 it should be authentic. at 1,400km total mileage, i dont feel any instability caused by wear and tear. i am recently more at the trail but not much jumping. downhill i tend to slow since its a hardtail but climbing? always waitin at the hill. gauging the feel from almost a year ago, nothing has changed. for me, worth it
@@youturn914 thanks
Where did you get the frame ? Please , it's cool I know
Can you update on the fate of the bike after 2 years? tnx
+1 same question.
The difference is Cannondale have a lifetime warranty. Got a 7 year old frame replaced with new.
Nice bike and super nice trail bro! RS and keep safe!👍✌️ shout out here from Brussels, Belgium 🇧🇪
Love to see the content man keep it up 👍
Thanks My Man
Nice video Mark! Can you please share what are the details/sizes/etc. of the mounting hardware for the rear suspension? Thanks!
Has anyone had experience with one of those rigid mtb forks from trifox, suspension adjusted.
I want to replace my old hybrid bikes lame suspension fork.
This frame is Winning world cups
You must check out the ICAN P9 150mm frame
It does have a lot of similarities to a Spark for sure, but once you start looking at the details then you can see it's not the same. Definitely not the same mold if that's what you were thinking. Great budget build though for sure!
They had to do that or they would get sued. It has to be different enough.
Hi sir. I also plan to wrap a bicycle number from China, but there is a little worry about other equipment to make a complete bicycle.
Most Chinese carbon mountain bike frames are pretty cheap, but some cost an arm and a leg.
Sometimes the shipping is like $100 dollars. I been considering buying a frame and build a bike as well.
So basically a nice xc bike, the only thing that I would change is that I would put RS Reba or Sid in the front
Are we sure it's a copy and not the original scource for Scott ? Anyone have thoughts post em up so I can learn .
Hey I would definitely recommend getting the *manitou r7* damper kit for this fork it makes them more adjustable plush and sensitive 👍
I’ll check it out, thanks Broskie
You're welcome
Is the fork mounted backwards or are they supposed to go that way?
@@1ce1ceBrady they're designed that way
@@1ce1ceBrady reversed arch. It makes it lighter but as stiff.
I just bought the same trifox frame but i'm not sure about what are the pieces for the rear shock hardware as in my country there are no much Scott shops. Can you show me or put the link about what pieces i have to buy
You can go with a regular mount shock
I’d bet it’s a legit Scott spark non rc meant for more than 120mm of travel
Ninety-five percent of all carbon MTB frames are made in China and/or other Asian variants. And all carbon frames can crack...not matter the brand. If you have the build and maintenance skills there really isn’t a down side to buying an off brand frame.
Can you make any update on the chines frame Trifox?
"Is it a Scott Spark?" Yes, but No. 😂
Just change the sticker this bike can be anything. most of the brand are manufactured in china.
@@deepakgurung3853 of sure, like Gucci handbags and other things...
They order 100 handbags from China. Then they made 200 handbags, and sell the others 100 as fakes...
It works this way
Go for it. Most carbon frames and other carbon components are made in China already. I bet the people who make the cheap Chinese brands also make them for the named brands using the same materials molds and dies.
I like to see the face of guys doing unboxing and realizing they paid 3X the price for a inferior `western` shit
This is unlikely but this could be made in the same place and just painted differently
Can you give us a longterm durability update please?
Love that trail at the end - looks like a hoot!
They build it on a Scott Spark mold, but not using the same carbon, neither the same manufacturing standards, resin, etc. That's why the original Scott Spark frame is almost half the weight of the Chinese version. But I'd guess that the Chinese version is probably even stronger, since frame walls are thicker, in exchange of a better compliance and flexibility where it needs to flex.
My SantaCruz Bronson CC with the best carbon fiber frame you can buy from Santa Cruz says made in China...
My first bike I built up was a chinese carbon frame, the workswell 062 which has really good reviews and it seemed all good but it really wasn't, the amount of frame flex at the bottom bracket was unreal!! it also developed 3 small cracks after just one year of riding on easy trails with no crashes. My next frame I purchased was a real 2017 Scott Spark RC 900 HMX and it came with the fox nude shock, the fox 32 step cast and the twinloc lever, I got it used for $2100 2 years ago. I can say for sure this Scott frame is absolutely amazing, stiff in all the right places, robust for its weight, perfect tolerances. My suggestion to people is spend the extra money and try to pick up a real scott spark frame. The carbon fiber layup process is very important to the performance of a carbon frame and there is no way this chinese company is actually replicating that procedure same as Scott, they are just make the frame look the same. With all this being said im sure the chinese frame is fine and will not explode underneath you but dont expect it to perform as good as the real Scott frame and I would be checking it for cracks more often then a trusted brand
That is an unusual case nowadays. I have raced xc and trained on Chinese no name brand mountain bike xc frames for going on 9 years and never had such a bad experience. Was your frame an xc model that you rode like it was intended for downhill or enduro ? And how much do you weigh?
Chinese products are hit or miss. There is consistency on the quality, no guarantee either.
Bad ass looking bike man!!
I think it’s a dc scott spark copy. Been waiting for this review. Nice!
No is just based on a modern xc bike that ride like a trail bike but still climbs.
Question… where is that? I live in Florida and would be awesome to know…
Good content. Nice camera work. Nice sound. Good narration. Nice job man. Good shite. "Comment down below" had me laughing.
Love the bike, bro living in florida currently using a hardtail i want something like that.
Hiw can chinese Brands get their hands on the design and manufacturing stets of the actual Brands?
nice review erp .kahit nga big brands may sabit padin hehe ride safe tropa :D
Do you know what the head tube angle is on that thing? I'm curious if it's the same as the spark.
If I'm not hucking the thing it should be fine huh?
how tall are you ?
What Size Frameset ?
Looks like Clone of American Eagle Dual Suspension

@@MCMTB Thanks for Reply
where to Get SPARE Rear Deraileur Hanger ? , Trifox Should have included ALL the SHOCK Hardware for Trunnion Mount .
hey man, great video. but just curious where is this park u went in the video footage?
Yeah, like everyone agrees, looks like a Spark. Happy for you, man. About the down country vs. xc question, if you use a slightly longer stem (if the reach works for you) you might have a little more agility on the climbs. 💪😎
You might be right I noticed that it is bobbing a lot on steep rocky climb, I might put a 60 mm them on it
A longer stem may give you a more stable platform on the climbs but makes the steering any other time on the track slightly slower. I raced off-road motorcycles for three decaedes and many of the things from that sport directly apply to mountain bikes as well. wider bars give more leverage but again mean slower steering reaction from the bike. Personally, for xc racing and faster trail riding, I'd rather have the quicker steering imput that a shorter stem provides, as long as its not too short like a 50mm which sometimes gives the bike steering a "twitchy" feel taking away from stability in rough stuff. Ive settled on a 65 mm stem that seems to do everything pretty well. Ive also used a 70mm and 60 mm . I can certainly tell the difference between the 60 mm and the 70mm lengths, so it doesnt take a whole lot to change the feel.
Scott’s probably made in the same factory is this one. Lol
@@williammorris6097wanted to check, I'm building an enduro but want so fun on extreme jumps and trials, I have planned most of build apart from stem length and handlebars, on 26" I had 600mm bars but didn't get to measure stem before stolen so curious, next bike is 29er but am split if buy 700mm or 800mm bars and what stem should be
Which park did you showcase in the video? Looks fun!
Nice bike, Mark! But im still inlove with your specialized hardtail 😍
I feel you, that thing is rough and wild :)
@@MCMTB yeah its like love at first sight on that first video 😂🤣
trifox has the tru-axles on thier site btw
Why is the shock backwards
Nice and helpful video. Thanks!
Why are your front forks on backwards
Thinking of this cloned frane. Its cheaper to build this for a XC application.
Graham Swamp and Mala Compra are two of my favorite places to ride, even tho I live right by Santos/Vortex.
Those are my favorites too, I ride Mala and Swamp every time I go, 2 ;)
@MC Cycles, what's the update after 2 years?
I agree that everything breaks... even your heart. lol😂 kiddin! hahaa. anyway, Chinese carbon brands seem to progress just like Trifox, Ican Bikes and Lexon. Saw plenty of good reviews from forums, aliexpress and alibaba that they provide promising bike experience. I've heard that they actually produce frames/parts too for other brands. Nice update on your mfm100 trifox, looking forward to see more of this on trails :)
Why the fork look like opposite?
Probably the manufacturer of the Scott frame and it didn’t meet quality control for Scott. What are they going to do, throw it away? I don’t think so.
Where to get this mtb Scott Spark copied frame?
It is a full suspension XC bike.
Is it not bad geometry cuz u have your forks on backwards...... because u have
Is it me or is the fork on backwards?
Boa tarde qual o temanho desse seu quadro de bike ?
What the crown race size for mfm100, i purchased the frame and wanted to purchase parts ahead of time
Hi! How is your frame now? Is everything Ok with it?
where are you riding in this video?
What is the headtube angle?
Hi, how ios the frame doing after 2 more years?
what about your old frame
Where are you riding?
I’ve had a Felt, a couple specializeds, a SantaCruz and they were all made in Taiwan or China. I would be interested in what bike frames come out of the same shop as the name brands.
All of them! They are all made off shore!
hows the frame holding up???? im very interested in buying this
That forest looks fun to ride in
Behest to many China and Taiwan is where most bigbrand bike frames come from. I got a original Shimano chainring that broke 4 teeth just after 3mos.
Still does it work?
Okay, is it me or are those forks mounted backwards? I could not take my eyes off them...just sayin'
MC, sounds like you may have some doubts about this frame. Trust your gut. Unknown manufacturing history or quality consistency? Safe riding.
You are implying inconsistancy in Chinese carbon frame manufacturing.. What is your basis for that assumption? I have owned and raced Chinese carbon no name brands in 46 xc races with zero problems on only one hardtail frame. I put 300 kilometers per week on that bike ftraining every day with zero problems.I now own a Chinese carbon full sus frame that is almost identical to this one. Three wins, one 3rd place finish in 4 races so far in my age group. Again no problems. Stick to your name brand bike and shell out a fortune for it. Or, with the money I saved building my chinese carbon fo almost half the price, funding my trip to Thailand to race it as I am wriing this now, sitting in Udon Thani, Thailand, away from the snow and cold of Colorado for several months, keeping my training going round the year. That is far more valuable /memorable to me than a decal with a well known name brand on my downtube.
What’s the name of that bike park?
Nice video, thank you. And how is the frame today? I got a Lexon and still waiting it gets to Brazil, but I hope it doesn't make my face hit the dirt 😂😂😂
i seen this frame here in ph and it sells for 27k makes me wanna save for one and i was thinking is yours a rear thru axle? and what's its hub clearance or hubs size that fits it?
Boost,
Are his forks backwards
is that fork backwards
Where did you buy the frame?
