How To Replace Internal Springs On a Rotary Trumpet

- This video is about internal springs on rotary valves. I replaced
the springs using a flat coiled spring that I got from a clock shop (The Clock Works in Schenectady, New York).
Here is the link to my website where you can view repair tools and instruments that I have for sale. 👇👇👇

Do you want to leave a tip so Art can continue to make more quality videos?

The inscription says Muzic Factory "Muzdetal" Tula city, 1961. Надпись гласит Завод "Муздеталь" город Тула, 1961 год
Excellent, thank you. Just what I need to help me in my next step looking at my new "patient".
You're much braver than most. As someone else posted, this was made in the Tula factory during Soviet times. All of the instruments coming from factories in Russia followed the same patterns while Kiev got away with having some unique designs. Stock spring tension on Russian rotors is really light, and Kiev factory tension really heavy. Notable quirks will generally include: Instruments having some sort of marking to indicate factory, year of manufacture, and price. Lacquered nickle plate finish. Annoying non-standard mouthpiece shanks. Pretty sure the Trumpets are using 10.25mm shank, but my only example of an original mouthpiece is extremely low quality, so it's possible that the taper is also different and 10.25mm just happens to fit. The obnoxious shanks make these instruments a bit pricey to get going properly, but the designs are actually really good, and the results can be really good as long as the overall quality is sufficient.
It's great to have to back. Hope all is well.
Good to see you back. I have missed your content.

Always fascinating, good to see you back. Thanks for sharing!
This is so cool. I've always wanted one of these.
Ebay, Europe seller. Will need repair. Another feature of old trumpets is long slides for 1st and 3rd valves for playing in maybe 3 different keys. "narrow wrap" design.
Hi Art! It’s always educational watching you repair any musical instrument. Thank you for sharing and hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving and a blessed evening!
Good to see you back!
glad to see you back!
Thanks for the video! I just bought my first rotary trumpet, and I am looking to learn the tips and tricks!
Welcome back. Nice to see you doing your thing!
Thanks for posting an interesting video about parts we don’t often get to see.
Did you ever take that Strad out of the box that you won on eBay? We are dying to know what it ended up looking like over here!
Than you fo sharing that’s great work😊❤
HOO RAY Your back, Love the work you do. Happy Thanksgiving. PS The valve set up I think simular to French horn valves.
You should make a video “How to clean Rotary Trumpet with water”
There are many such videos, they are all terrible, I don't think much of how professionals clean brass internally either, and they don't cover. Developing my own simple easy procedures, and you can too, just think about it.
I have the exagt same problem on my althorn after cleaning it
My main tuning slide on my trumpet is very loose and keeps on moving when I play, anything I can do to fix?
Maybe lanolin, grease from sheep's wool removed in hot water during initial cleaning and then filtered.
Интересно, как эта труба попала из России в США)
My posts keep disappearing. No more posts from me. Don't like my time wasted.
