My whole family are watching you now Ant. Not because we have your skills but because you are so talented and miss Penny too. You should be on TV presenting Thank you for the joy you bring x
Ant I want to be you. You live in a beautiful, peaceful part of the world, seem so content and happy, and you can do ANYTHING!!!! It doesn’t hurt that you have Kate as a neighbor 😉💜🌷🫶🏻
Welcome...You are so talented and I look forward to following you on your many projects. I need to thank you for taking such good care of Miss Kate and her homely garden and house. Bless you
Ahhhh...here is the fishery explanation. Thank you very much. It was very interesting. I could almost smell the fish through the screen. The dog was a plus in the video, like Kate's cats.
Oh, my goodness! This was so interesting and sooo many fish! They look pretty big already. Miss Penny frolicking and swimming was a joy to watch. Thank you for sharing your day with us.
Those are some mighty nice looking fish that you stocked. It would be a thrill to fish in your beautiful area & catch such a large fish. Thanks for the video.
Very interesting - I live among many lakes, but I'm a farmer/horse person....and don't go sit by them or own a boat. Learning about a fishery is very nice. And so are Labs! I don't have a Lab at the moment, because if a dog that large gets hurt, I can't get them in my truck anymore. Border collies and Aussies now at my age, LOL! Life would be not good at all without horses, dogs, cats, and my chickens. (The beef and pork we raise are in the freezer!)
Oh, Penny! You remind me of my beautiful black labrador, Shady. She's been gone for many years now, but I still think of her often--especially when I see a beauty like you! The perfect dog breed, IMHO.
What a beautiful part of the world you live in. I know my husband would love to come fishing there someday. ❤ Thank you for sharing your day with us! The rainbow was a beautiful bonus!!
What a beautiful part of the world you Live in ! Great interesting content ! Love dear miss penny !! Your version of Eileen the goose !! Lol . Fish are gorgeous! Huge! Just noticed a rainbow !!!!!!!!!! ❤xx marilyn USA

This was a really interesting insight into something i know zilch about. It's fascinating to learn how things are done and in such a lovely environment too. Thanks for sharing.
Goodness the fish are large but probably still room to grow. I just was expecting smaller than that. Its a beautiful setting for a lake and I thank you for sharing your day with us. Take care
That was very interesting. I never knew about triploids but having just read a very interesting article put out by the California Fish and Wildlife, I now know about pressure shock treatment, polar bodies, and that bananas and seedless watermelons are triploids too. Who knew. Thanks Ant. Lovely to see the reservoir and a slight glimpse of watery sun.
That was fascinating what a beautiful place and the rainbow was so lovely. Loved watching Penny. Labradors just exude joy don’t they. I have a soft spot for them as we had two goldens whilst I was growing up. ❤️❤️❤️
You truly live in the most beautiful part of England. Now I also have to see how to fix the notifications on your channel. It's been set ON since the beginning but not working. I will figure it out. Thanks for sharing your beautiful country.
Never thought of using a hedge trimmer to cut the small stuff on the banks. We usually just mow it but this would work well for the hill sides and areas that we can’t reach with a mower.
I really enjoyed this latest installment Ant. An Earth Science teacher I know is connected to our Dep't of Natural Resources here in Minnesota and every year, thanks to a grant, his huge aquarium is stocked with hmmm, not the alevins but a little older trout younguns, and the kids get to monitor and manage the trout. The also get to take part in releasing the trout along with a DNR staff person. I am fascinated by the stocking of the pond, the following questions do not require an answer Ant, you are way to busy, but I wonder how the experts calculate how many fish a body of water can hold and how do they know when restocking is needed? I have more questions. Actually I am going to go to our DNR site and see what I can learn. thanks Ant for giving me a rabbit hole to go down. Cheers from Minnesota Ant - "Land of 10,000 Lakes" thanks to the last ice age and retreating ice...lots of fish, and fisher-folks! All the best! Fern in Minnesota
I love Penny running in the water! This was very interesting, to see exactly how you go about stocking a fishing area. Do you get herons and cormorants competing for the fish?
Hi Ants , we both really enjoyed your video. We were both inpressed with the size of fish being planted. My husband has worked helping the DNR in Michigan with the fishery..he wants me to ask what the cost is where you live for one fish planting? Why don't you put in smaller fish and just let them grow up?
Our fish cost roughly £2.50per pound of fish up to 4 pound in weight then the cost escalates quickly … the fish are stocked to be caught straight away so don’t get much time to grow on
I enjoyed that, thanks Ant. I have never heard of triploids before nor blue trout so I'm busily looking those up. Does anyone fishing have to puchase a special permit and if so, to whom is the money paid? Enjoy seeing green and water, almost 25cm of snow here, very white.
We stock our lake and rivers with fry and try to replenish the fish population that way. Do you stock strictly for fly fishing ? Such a beautiful part of the country.
That was very interesting!! Thank you!! How old is Penny? And how cold is that water!? She must have a great coat to be in that cold water!! This was great, Ant - thank you!!
Please, dear Ant, are you able to explain to me, why do you have to put extra fishes in the lake? Aren't there basicly enough in such a big water? I don't understand anything about fishery and so I ask (perhaps silly...). Yours, Barbara from Vienna
Hi Barbara the lake is a commercial fly fishery where people pay to fish and take them home .. so we need to restock every couple of weeks to keep the numbers of fish at a certain level .. I hope this helps
@@ants_countrylife Do they breed any fish in there at all, filling every 2 weeks with those fish would cost a few bob. Very interesting to see them come out the shoot, if you could get nearer the water could they go direct instead of using the net? Never seen something like this before!
This is very interesting. I live in the “Lakes District” in BC Canada and I’ve heard of places that stock fish but never have seen it before. The lakes I go to and grew up on have natural spawning. Yes the snow only lasted a couple of days .. thankfully

Boy, I would love to fish there. Any osprey?
Hi Susan we sometimes get an osprey stopping off on its journey to elsewhere but no resident ones unfortunately

The fishermen pay for a day ticket or permit and this allows them to fish on the lake and the money goes to the fishery as it is a business
Hey, that's nice, money going back to the fishery, makes sense, thanks for replying.
We stock our lake and rivers with fry and try to replenish the fish population that way. Do you stock strictly for fly fishing ? Such a beautiful part of the country.
Hi yes we do just stock for the fly fishing
That was very interesting!! Thank you!! How old is Penny? And how cold is that water!? She must have a great coat to be in that cold water!! This was great, Ant - thank you!!
I’m glad you enjoyed the video and penny is 6 in may but she loves the water and doesn’t feel the cold … she even lies out in the snow
Hi Ant - Love the videos. Is that the same lake we see in back of Kate's house??
Please, dear Ant, are you able to explain to me, why do you have to put extra fishes in the lake? Aren't there basicly enough in such a big water? I don't understand anything about fishery and so I ask (perhaps silly...). Yours, Barbara from Vienna
Hi Barbara the lake is a commercial fly fishery where people pay to fish and take them home .. so we need to restock every couple of weeks to keep the numbers of fish at a certain level .. I hope this helps
How cold is it there now? How do you get a fish neither male nor female?
Do you cut all of the plants around the banks or just in spots?? Thanks for sharing a bit about this Ant!
Hi we just cut all the willow right back and trim some of the bigger trees
Interesting to hear, so these fish don't breed at all?
That’s right no they don’t breed at all
@@ants_countrylife Do they breed any fish in there at all, filling every 2 weeks with those fish would cost a few bob. Very interesting to see them come out the shoot, if you could get nearer the water could they go direct instead of using the net? Never seen something like this before!
We have wild brown trout that breed in the lake and we could put the fish in directly if we had better access
We don’t have to stock our ponds with fish,is this a man made lake?
This is very interesting. I live in the “Lakes District” in BC Canada and I’ve heard of places that stock fish but never have seen it before. The lakes I go to and grew up on have natural spawning. I always thought that fish would be really small when introduced and then would grow in the lake 🤦♀️ How many fish does a permit allow a person to catch in a day?
You can keep a maximum of five depending on which permit you pay for
Oh that’s interesting. Five is the limit for our rainbow trout too
One more question… do you put water from the lake into the grey bin to acclimatize the fish before putting them into the lake? Thanks
No we don’t but we do temperature checks before we order the fish to make sure there’s no big difference before they come
Is the fishery the same waters that touch to Kate’s property as well -?
🐋🦈
Ant what are the names of the fish that will be caught? I live on the Mississippi River here in Wisconsin
All I had to do was ask and the video told me Trout ! ☺️ lol
Does it hurt/damage the fish when ther are transferred from the tank to the wheely bin before putting them in the lake?
No it doesn’t bother them at all
Do you eat them
Do you have to worry about poisonous snakes?
No we don’t have to worry about poisonous snakes in England .. the Adder is the only poisonous snake but it’s rarely seen and not deadly
I was back home in 2018 not far from there. My husband and grown son would have loved to fish there if they knew it existed! Is it yours or do you manage it?
Hi I live here and manage the fishery
Lucky you! It's a beautiful place.
Is this the same lake where kate is?
Yes it is
My husband is a fly fisherman. Is this a private fishery or can it be fished on a day ticket please?
Hi Janice yes it can be fished on a day ticket
