      @@Mr.2GD Falcon Heavy is the name of the rocket. SpaceX's main innovation is reusable rockets. Previously, to launch a satellite you would use a rocket that would be destroyed in the process. This made Space operations prohibitively expensive. Imagine if one would have to destroy a plane each time you fly from one country to another. A plane ticket would be so expensive that nobody would be able to afford it! Well, that was the case with the space industry until SpaceX.
      SpaceX designed rockets which can deliver a payload (satelite, people, etc.) somewhere and return back and land on a planet to be reused again.
      This video was a test of the Falcon Heavy, which is a rocket vehicle that can lift twice the weight that its competitors can! The Tesla car was used as a random payload (to have weight for the rocket to deliver to test it), because this was just a test launch.
      Falcon Heavy consists of 3 booster rockets, which is the reusable expensive part. They delivered the car into space and returned back. Two boosters landed in one place at the same time. The third booster landed in another place (but exploded because it didn't have enough fuel).
      The reason to construct a larger space vehicle out of smaller boosters is to ease design and manufacturing. If you use 3 boosters instead of designing some new superheavy rocket booster, then you reduce the cost of design and manufacturing, because you just have to perfect that one booster design and can make several space vehicles out of them.
      If something goes wrong with one booster (like in this case where the 3rd booster exploded because they underestimated the amount of fuel it needed) you can just correct the issue and all space vehicles would benefit from that correction / design improvement because they all use same boosters.
      This is one of the ways SpaceX will reduce costs of space travel. Not only boosters are reusable, but also those boosters can be used in many different space vehicles. So same innovations which improve satellite delivery or astronaut delivery can eventually be used to travel to Mars or even super fast Earth travel (like 30 min flight time to any location on Earth).

      Mr. 2GD simply put; the two side boosters that helped the center core and payload get to space landed back on earth upright after their task was complete. Falcon is the name of the series of rockets. the rocket at hand is called Falcon Heavy which is essentially three Falcon 9 rockets strapped together. here’s a video to the original launch: ua-cam.com/video/wbSwFU6tY1c/v-deo.html

    as a 7 yr old in 1969 I saw the landing on the moon. We watched it in the school hall on a small black and white television
    Now I didn't know anything about SpaceX but when I saw this footage - the rocket taking off, the Tesla with Starman being released I was amazed.
    I literally screamed when I saw the BOOSTERS LANDING BACK ON EARTH !!! because only just before I saw it, I knew that rocket boosters were lost forever. Now they are landing back on earth. Holy SH*T. I had no idea that this could be done now. How naive I am..
    I apologised to my sons for scaring them because I screamed so loud (with a few swear words thrown in) lol

    When you spend years designing, testing and building something...Then finally see your baby fly.....you will know why these people are cheering. Although you always understand that this huge thing you are working on is supposed to go up to orbit, it really doesn't really have a solid meaning until you see that huge monster catch fire and ascend up into the sky. After the cheering and tears are over, there is a sense of loss. A part of you is gone, never to be seen again. But now, it comes back home. Perfection.

      @@laurah200 lol you're trying to discredit the work of a woman who has probably achieved more than you will ever. She's not even the focus of this video, and you still feel the need to mention her. Personal grudge??

    • @laurah200
      @laurah200 4 роки тому

      Yannis Wen I never discredit her work thrive to be honest. It was just noticeable that she was on the phone .... again. For you an accomplishment is when you are on the top of the top... alright go ahead little sir, go make your millions because Apparently personal goals and accomplishment don’t matter. Goodluck on getting there pal. With that mindset you might have money but no friends. Or let’s say fake friends for the money haha
