- This Solar Panel Cleaning Robot aims to maintain the efficiency of solar power production by making sure the Solar panels are kept clean without putting humans at risk.
This robot comes equipped with a roller brush and a water sprayer to clean all dirt and grime from the surface of the panels. The sprayer gets its supply of water through an on-board tank. The rubber caterpillar tracks ensure that this robot can adhere to the slick surface of solar panels. This robot operates remotely and wirelessly.
A Bluetooth remote controller is used to wirelessly transmit control movement data to the robotic vehicle. The controller receives the data and operates the wheel motors in desired directions to achieve the desired movement. The front brush is fixed to the main chassis front and operated by a geared DC motor. The front panel also has an water pipe that is used to drive water for cleaning using a dc pump to the front of the brush. The system thus allows for easy solar panel cleaning using wireless control.

Construction and Working
The Solar Panel Cleaning Robot is fabricated on a PVC box to make it light weight and rust free. Four 60 RPM DC Motors are mounted at the four corners of the box. Metallic Clamps are used for mounting the DC Motors.
On the front side of the robot, one more DC Motor is used for cleaning mechanism. One round shaped brush is mounted to the front side plate along with some gear arrangement. PVC water tank is mounted on the centre of the base plate. Water tank consist of submersible DC pump.
Pump get supply from the relay. PVC pipes and joints are used to spray water on the brush. Control circuit consist of Microcontroller, Motor Driver, Relay and HC-05 Bluetooth Module. The whole system works on 12 V DC rechargeable battery. Controller board consist of charger circuit build using LM317 variable voltage regulator IC.
This robot receives the commands from the Bluetooth app. Robot can move front side, back side. It can also rotate left and right through a remote command. User can also control the cleaning motor by ON/OFF command.
Pump automatically get switched OFF after the 2 sec of the control command. Bluetooth module works on 9600 baud rate, whenever it receives the commands from android app, it transfer the code to microcontroller. Microcontroller then compares the code and check it for which command it needs to execute. According to that it turn on the DC Motors with the help of driver IC L293D. Similarly for switching ON or OFF the pump microcontroller activates/deactivates the RELAY.

Yes we have used Mobile App. Android Bluetooth App, Number of applications available in play stores, select gamepad in that application to control the robot.

Did you use a 8051 microcontroller development board or just a circuit?
We have developed our own circuit board using the nuvoton w78e052ddg microcontroller. The board consists of LCD, Motor Driver, Relays, Regulator circuit, Battery charger circuit etc.

Roller brush from Plastic Material Shop. Caterpillar tracks from Electronic components stores lamington road Mumbai, you can check other online stores also.

we have used 3 ( 4V 1.5AH) batteries in series to make 12Volts

You can make your own PCB, i can share the design files. If you are located in India then we can provide you a preprogrammed fully soldered microcontroller board.
What is the use of lcd display in the robot
It is only showing the functions, provided for future applications like checking the panel temperature, voltage etc.
