Twilight Princess Great Fairies: Pretty much the entire reason the game got rated T (Teen 13+) OOT & Majora's Mask: Probably gave some kids nightmares (Mostly due to the low poly graphics of N64) BOTW & TOTK (2 of the 4 encounters to be specific): Ｌｉｎｋ ｇｅｔｓ ｖｉｏｌａｔｅｄ
The Ocarina Fairy's graphics have improved greatly in Hyrule Warriors, that didn't freak me out at all. Also, yeah, trying to use B^$ graphics to portray an attractive woman isn't a good idea.

The Minish Cap fairies have always been my absolute faves ever since I first played the game. None of the great fairies from the later games have ever been able to compare to them in my eyes. 😭
The wind waker one happens to be my favorite, especially the queen. There is so much lore behind them what makes them truly special. Besides that they’re look is that worthy of a ethereal being… One of the more obvious ones is that the queen holds the great fairy as its just a puppet symbolizing how powerful she is and that they are nothing more than mere puppets to her. Funnily enough she herself is also a puppet to the great goddess of Hylia herself. You may notice how she moves like she is controlled like a puppeteer would move a dummy. Especially in the end you notice it. One other point is that she looks like Phai from Skyward Sword. There Phai is the hero’s guide and sword provided by Hylia, nothing more than a mere puppet and AI with the destiny to aid the hero like the fairy queen here…
Calling Phai an AI is wild💀. She is a spirit created by a goddes, but like isn't all life also a creation of goddesses? So are all hylians AI now or what😭

Wind Waker Great Fairies were the best. I liked how they didn't have the look of a typical gorgeous looking fairy, like the Great Fairies in TP or OoT/Majora for example. They looked more like creatures, especially with the four arms. They the most unique design
I'm guessing the OoT/MM great fairies sound like they're screaming because of the technology at time and not because they intended on giving kids nightmares.
I love the design of the Four Swords / Minish Cap fairies, especially the way their dresses appear to blend with the water. They LOOK and BREATHE mystical.
I believe she appears in every spring that you ""unlock"" via completing the Cave of Ordeals. It makes the springs an extra vibe with all the health fairies at night time.
The first game is my dad’s favorite game of all time. I played that game too but took over with the second game. Amazing what parents and their children can bond over. 🙂

First time I saw the Great Fairy in Twilight Princess, I had to do a double take. I mean, I knew that Twilight Princess was a T-Rated game, so of course it would have darker or older themes. But I'd never assume that they would give the Great Fairies a design like that. I'm proud of them.
It's not uncommon on the Japanese side (remember Misty's Tears pokemon card), but it's usually censored/modified in the Western localizations. For some reason the censors didn't do anything about this one.
Twilight princess was my first touch of videogames after my childhood when I played mostly Super Mario with my cousins. I think it was some kind of turning point for me. Twilight princess was so mysterious and beautiful and it gave me similiar feeling when I first saw Lord of the rings movies years earlier. Like I had found back home or something. I had found something I really liked, impressed me and made me experience new things. That’s why Twilight princess will always have my heart ❤

That would explain why they look like ghosts or puppets and so different from other Great Fairies in the franchise. I also believe that the "bottle fairies" are a new race of fairy that were born on the surface from the Queen's power explaining their new look too. 🧚
