Fuckin A! I was on The Hook back in high school & didn’t realize! Lily Chanler wrote in my senior yearbook “Thanks for being my 2nd boyfriend; you’re so funny” and I didn’t even see it until I was cleaning my library today. I tried the number she wrote … Mangiaro’s Pizza. Thank god I forgot her during comm college
I was on a girl's hook and it was not until 5 years later did I learn so. And, yea it is insane, the only one who can take you off that hook is yourself. What is worse is when they give you mixed signals because they want a personal cheerleader.
@advancedmechanics4448 it is worst when they string you along just to have that back up date or a shoulder to cry on when they need someone to cheer them up. But whenever you wanted some support or to meet up they were never available. Cut off all communications with those people and live your life
When I first watched this episode years back, I had to pause because everything a little seemed too real, down to the foot massages.. took me a while but I got myself off the hook because of this episode
It's what makes this series so beautiful. It's got a lot of RLL: Real Life Lessons. Everyone gets on the hook of someone else at some point in their life, just like everyone gets someone on their own hook, even if they don't realize it. Nothing to be ashamed of, it's kind of a mandatory step in Life xD.
It’s stuff like this that reminds me how pathetic Ted is. And ironically, he’s on the hook with Robin for the entire series...to it’s complete and total devastation in the finale
@anon Actually, that's Robin trying to get Ted disinterested in her because she can't have children and she knows how important that is for Ted. She basically never stopped loving him (remember, the cause of their break-up was just Lily messing with their heads) but after she found out she can never ever give him what he desires most in life, she tried to push him away. Tracy's death was her saving grace, otherwise she would have died alone (OK not alone, with 5 dogs) still longing for Ted. There's a deleted scene from the finale which shows that when Ted is all happy with Tracy and their babies, Robin has basically gave up on life, having realized that she got to the top career-wise, but it didn't really fulfill her in the end.
@@sUmEgIaMbRuS Thats why i hate last five minutes of this show. People keep coming up with lame excuses to justify it instead of calling it out for what it is.Stupid Ending. Twenty episodes of last season and basically anything that didnt involve mother was fucking waste of time. Only reason Mother died because show creators wanted to write perfect happy ending for their "precious Robin." Meanwhile giving other characters middle finger, especially barney. PS I made my peace with ending Thanks to my friend. After watching finale he just said "HA!!...she is gonna dump him again after some time. That d be his last lesson." Knowing robin all these years..i guess he is right.
I think you guys misunderstand what "On the hook" means. It's not friendzone. Friendzoned guys never get any hint on the possible future relationships. They are left in the "friend zone", nothing more ever
no, its the same thing buddy. i have friends that are girls, ones that i either have no interest in pursuing, or i know I have no chance and accept that, and thats not friendzoning. friend zone is the same as being on the hook
The main difference beetween tha hook and friendzone is that, in the latter the person actually likes you, while in the hook, ur ass just being used to boost someone's ego and other shit.
"Ahh! Move past it guys! I've been a little loose, but money never changed hands" probably Robin's best line. That or "'Then I want you to do me on the couch'... okay maybe not a sick dad.... or a VERY sick dad, am I right?"
Guys, WTF?!? I am on the hook right now. Damn how could I not realize that like wtf. Thinking back like this it's obvious! Wow! I feel so stupid. I am ending that connection completely, thanks UA-cam algorithm/personal FBI guy for showing this to me!
If Barney sees what is happening with men in the 2020s and the simping issue he would cry. Then again Barney would have been canceled so quick if he was operating in the 2020s.
THIS is what the friendzone really is! when the other person rejects you and says that they only like you as a friend, you're not in any zone. you're simply someone that she doesn't feel attracted to.
ähm, no. the friendzone was originally when one part says that "right now" they can't imagine something more than friendship. giving you the illusion that there might be something more than friendship after some time. if she outright tells you that there will never be more than that, than you aren't "in the friendzone". you are in the "not even considered as a possible partner"-zone
yeah. and it defines a billion as 10^9. this however, only shows the current state of the language, not the historical background. (note: as billion is still used for both 10^9 and 10^12, the dictionary might actually tell both) people started calling what you described as friendzone because they didn't get the concept of what counts as friendzone. but the same way that a billion is a bi-million and is therefore million^2 (hence 10^12), the friendzone is when she decides to put you in the friend-zone. not when you are basically as sexually attractive as a rock at the sidewalk for her and she's nice enough to tell you that being friends is the most you'll ever get from her. (which is not her putting you into a zone, but her rejecting you and not thinking about you)
And I am sure you have some way to prove to me, that your given definition is more correct than the one I gave to you? Where did you get your definition from?
Another show talked about this, but they explained it a little different. Like the guy was a toy, and the girl only took them out and played with them when they were bored
Sattvik Goel Friendzone was literally coined in season 1 of Friends by Joey. It just became a popular term later on. He used the exact words while describing Ross's relationship with Rachel in S1. Check out the episode "TOW the Blackout". Joey is goddamn pioneer. 😂
this is not friend zone. Friend zone is a permanent place that you'll never get out of and really, a zone that the "friend" always been at but got in his head that there's something more when there isn't. Does that make sense? Lol
A hooker is a slang term for prostitute. She misspoke, so had to correct herself. "Loose" refers to those (women *and* men) that jump into bed more quickly than average.
“ money never changed hands” Robin might mean by that she has never been dishonest with the situation, and the other person knows what is going on. But as she is saying “ I ‘ve been a little bit loose” she might be referring that she does not do it as often as people think. Since the expression is an idiom , it’s kind of hard to explain and it might entitle a different meaning depending on the context of the conversation as in this case is.
I just understand. If the reason behind Barneys and Robins divorce is the fact that Robin just cant be a good wife and the fabolous news reporter she is at the same time. But in a deleted scene from S9 Robin tells Ted she had anought and that shes back in NYC for good. So wouldnt it be more logical to get back with barney. Like Barney has a child, loves Robin and isnt the weird sexmaniac he once was. Its just so bad to see, because the opportunity was there. But judging by the way he felt, I guess he was really into Aunt Robin so, its still a great ending. Id just much rather see Barney and Robin together
I remember this girl who thought that they had me on the hook. Little did she know that I was laying out ground work in case my relationship collapsed. Later when I demanded the goods and she refused, I walked out and left.

Friendzone is not the same as The Hook.
yep, nowadays its called simping
friend zone is basically , like your my friend and nothing more , on the hook means im just stringing u along if i get dumped .
Yep. The hook is basically getting the relationship validation from someone without actually committing anything.
