Not just "in soccer", but the most difficult call in ALL of sports.
Icing in hockey is even harder
@@ranelgallardo7031 nope. The line in hockey doesn't move.
There was also a possibility of a handball late in the Philadelphia vs Portland
Ya that one bugged me because the handball was really clear on the replay and 100% should have been a pen, but because we were up and it was late in the game it didn't even get looked at. Seemed like the the situation affected the referring, or lack of.
Yes I agree, I was very upset because if they scored a equalizer that would be annoying because if we had that pen we could’ve had a extra goal
Yes. The late ‘no call’ for handling on Philly was clear and obvious. But since there was no stoppage of play for a very long time, there no opportunity for a VAR review. Under those circumstances, can the VAR review still occur even if significant amounts of playing time have elapsed since the potential infraction occur? That is a question for Mr. Davies.
Arm was tucked into his side in a natural position
Not Colton Lehto that could be a argument it was very close but from what I saw it looked a bit out of normal position
So offsides is only called when the player who was in offside position actually touches the ball? If he runs towards it and feints kicking it (but never touches it) and the goalie is fooled by the feignt and thus a goal is scored, is the goal allowed?
At 3:11/4:25 the handball they called came off of the other players foot and to his hand. The player that handballed did not have enough space and time to move his arm? Can someone help explain. Thanks
In the last play, Medina did not go down easy, the defender clearly grabs him the back of his shirt and throws him down as he strides by to the left. Medina is on his left foot trying to catch his right foot in his run, is bent over by the defenders forceful jersey grab (not he's grabbing and pushing Medina down, and not yanking or pulling) and then ultimately thrown to the ground against his direction of balance. Should have been a yellow IMO
Crazy that he called this “soft”. He’s manhandling him. This isn’t a soft PK at all. The push in the back was a soft PK but still a PK. Common Charlie!
Orlando 1-2 Portland
We can't talk about clear and obvious in this league when VAR called Marco Fabian offside for the tip his HEEL. Przybylko's goal should go to VAR and equalize the game.
Instant Replay is back!
Not looking at Minnesota's goal vs Orlando either? That looked to a lot of people like the Minnesota striker was just offside and the Orlando defenders seemed to think so.
On its own, mabiala’s hands on Medina would be a soft but fair penalty. The thing is that Medina is also pushing mabiala just as much so it’s unfair to call it on Mabiala just because Medina is the one who falls.
I feel offsides should apply to 3/4 of the field and after that it’s no holds bar
Get the right call stop clear and obvious nonsense it didnt work in the epl
Not looking at Molino's arm that caught Mendez in the face? He wasn't trying to do it but Molino flailed his arm in a position that isn't natural to running (almost horizontal) by the letter of the law that's a red.
Orlando players didn't appeal it but surely if someone catches an arm to the face you VAR should have a look especially when their was a stoppage for the physio to come on and check on Mendez.
By the letter of the law which category did it fall in too? Careless reckless or excessive force? What part of the arm made contact with the face etc etc
If Pzybilko's offside then so is Toye.
اف سائیڈ
PLEASE NEEYMAR COMETOO MLS
Those players would never come to MLS in their prime. Sorry but thats just ruining their carrier
Football is a contact sport. Any contact in the box isn't a pen.
By that logic, you could punch someone in the box. By saying "Any contact in the box isn't a pen" you show you have a very loose understanding of the rules of the sport
LMAO
first
usa should be barred from all international and national football those players and officials are a disgrace as is the channel commentator football is a contact sport officials should be impartial. 1 onside 2. no penalty do not call it a p.k should be booked for diving 3. it is a second yellow 4 ball to arm no penalty 5 19 should have been booked for diving 6 is fifa and uefa turning football into netball/basketball yes, is it making it unwatchable yes am i preaching a gospel that in the end will ruin football yes
Bring back Simon Borg!
Yes please!!!
Offsides is stupid, that is the defenses fault for not being their on time
No offside
That first one got me. I never actually heard about that offside since I never saw any of this game.

Honestly missed penalties really cost teams in the end where it woulda helped or given some hope once santos missed momentum dropped
Calling a "penalty" a "pen" sounds dumb
The last one is no penalty
Ayyy allá Cristiano Ronaldo
Ayyy que pasa co Barcelona ???!!
Real Madrid? 🤔
Proposition:
There should be a line just outside the penalty box after which a player could make a pass without the reciver being considered offside.
This might result in more goals and reward teams who put in the effort to go on the offensive.
They're called build-out lines and they are used in U10 travel ball... Offsides is just a part of the game. I don't think it's necessarily bad to see a lot of offside calls - it means that the offense is trying super hard to break to the goal. Also means that defense is able to hold their line and force the call.
We shouldn't make it easy "just because".
@@backpackingdude6498 build-out lines are for aiding the goalie and the defenders. My suggestion is for giving more options to the ATTACKERS.
The problem is that attackers expend a disproportionate amount of time and energy to build a solid play. Even though they make it all the way to the goalie box all their hard work can be thwarted by a simple mili-metric offside decision.
It's already far easier to defend than to attack, defenders shouldn't be allowed the offside trap if it's within the goalie box.
I loved the in-depth analysis on the close offsides goal for Philly. I learned a lot from the amount of debate that was told. All in all I’m very satisfied with how the whole action was called.
Not.
1:28 that’s a total dive. He had no chance to get to that ball, so he flailed his arms and went down
but there was literally contact.
Vizion PSBO yes. There is contact in soccer
ggsnubs yea the was contact on his back, so if he didn’t fall then the ref wouldn’t have seen it
I disagree, if you watch his footing and his initial jump direction, you can clearly see he's forced forwards from the push, loses his balance midair and comes down. No dive
@@ggsnubs yeah there's contact, as in shoulder to shoulder and fair play challenges for the ball. But the defender clearly shoves the attacker with both hands, makes his jump direction go off, and causes him to lose balance midair and fall awkwardly down. No dive
