Damn thats nostalgic
Something tells me he didn't learn Airbending.
Jory Porteous get the f out of here (such a good jokes lmao)
The fire nation attacked before he could
Thailand always attacked by water benders thats why we have flood all the time
ANIME brains fire nation did nothing wrong
Jory Porteous lol
I‘m a Buddhist, and god knows how grateful I am EVERYDAY for finding this religion, and applying it to my everyday life. Buddhism really is just a way of life like Aria said. I'd rather say Buddhism is education to life rather than a religion. Thank you Buddha for leaving us the greatest give one can ever receive!
gift*
Yup agree , it's not a religion but education and philosophy for all human being , many Buddhist live a life as atheist , Buddhism have completely freedom
@@nikarun4165 You are well come!!!
@@nikarun4165 Same here, extremely grateful to be born as a Buddhist!
Greetings from Land of Buddha and fellow Buddhist🙏
Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them. But when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar, an airbender named Aang. And although his airbending skills are great, he still has a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone. But I believe Aang can save the world.
Mark Santos Man This is old times~
Aria... Aangria.... Aang?! Holy shiat Aria is the avatar confirmed. He left when the 4 nation need him the most =)))
Good old times
Aria may have not learned airbending but did he meet the Many-Faced God?
uhh what?
I am a Mexican girl...I really felt relaxed when I went to a Buddhist temple in China.
It was beautiful... my dad joked that he was gunna put me into the monastery ( I was 14 at that time).
Honestly, I do want to spend time in a monastery before I go to medical school. Just to prepare a lifetime of dedication to medicine and I want to prepare my mindset. Alrighty, let's save money xD
Finally a meaningful video from Buzzfeed
BlazingDragoon1 Aria always had the meaningful ones.
And all people can do is make Avatar jokes in the comments
I love that buzzfeed explores many cultures, that others are not aware of. I absolutely love this video and not just because I’m Thai and Buddhist myself. 😂😁😁😁
Belal DarkneSS I wasn’t trying to patent Buddhism?? I was just saying that I didn’t love this video just because I was Thai and a Buddhist myself, like he is?? As in I’m trying not to make myself seem biased?? I literally said, “I love that buzzfeed explores many cultures, that others are not aware of.”
Shay Sakvongkhamhane What do do you you think of British tourists?
I have a question.. Do all boys from Thailand do this?
Most, but the length varies from person to person. Some of my friends have done months, and a few have done less than a week. Its honestly expected that a man will do it before he dies though.
Matthew Muehleck oh thats cool.. Thanks!
I'm a Buddhist woman now, but as a child everyone was trying to put me into Christianity, which didn't resonate with me at all. It just didn't make sense to me and so I decided to not have a religion for a while. I focused on spirituality for a bit until I learned more about Buddhism whilst living in Thailand. I felt like this was something that was logical and reasonable, so I began believing what the religion believed. I hope that some day I can become a Buddhist nun just for a bit. :)
Following Jesus and Finding Him is the only way to save your life. It is you that have to initiate that encounter with Him. If you seek and call out to Him and let Him show you He is real and pure love since He bought you with a bloody price on the cross cause of God’s wrath on us all (yes you too), you can’t trample on the blood that saved your life from eternal Lakes of fire. Just ask yourself this Question: where will you spend eternity? Life after death? That’s why the gospels (good news) share that because of Jesus being used as the perfect sacrificial lamb, the bloodshed needed to take away God’s wrath on humans, Jesus saved us forever. Imagine being infront of the Judge who is God and the devil who is persecuting you for committing sins and living unholy and not acknowledging God, and You lucky you have a attorney called: Jesus Christ who is there to defend you. So the judge gives you a death sentence since you are guilty of your sins (yes ma’m there is sins in your life since NO one is sinless in the flesh except Jesus) and Jesus steps in and tells God: nope don’t put her to death sentence, put me instead.
This is basically it. If you just have an open heart to receive Jesus and get to know HIM and not the religion then trust me you will change this comment you have written ;)
Though I am a Muslim I've met some Buddhist people. They are mostly nice people
@@Meroesja its comments like this that make people steer away from Christianity ~
@@Meroesja this is the reason why I never chose Christianity but converted to buddism I have seen so many comments of Christians saying this in UA-cam comments and never seen a buddist say this in the comments
I'm so sorry if you ever felt that we are forcing you, it is NOT our intention at all! We love everyone and if you chose not to believe that is ok! God bless you!
Aria makes the best videos. Loves that he is exploring topics I know nothing about and is not scared to takle topics others dont explore. You go Aria!
he and eric are so entertained to listen too
Aria getting all famous now, so many recommendationsssss
I’ve been learning about Buddhism pretty intensely recently for exam prep and this is so refreshing for me. To hear Aria’s personal experience rather than just reading facts off a page, it’s really nice
Aria: Tells us about how buddhism is a way of life instead of a religion and explaining his lifestyle
People on the internet : WheRe are ThE aiR BeNdeR Tat00s
"once you have the head shaved, the eyebrows shaved, you look like a monk"
soo we gotta shave jeffrey star's head i kinda wanna see him become a monk lmao
I’m a Thai person and loved what you were talking about. Buddhism never forces you to follow but it’s kind of like a suggestion on how to go on with your life as happy as possible. That’s how I see it.
Aria gives peace to my mind and soul.
And makes me moist all at the same time.
Aurora Meiesna I can't sleep ........ because of that comment
Wtf
Exsqueeze me? This is a family channel.
Aurora Meiesna I think you meant rejoice? lol
Oh mylanta
I became a Buddhist a year ago and love that it’s being talked about. It is a religion that is not talked about often. I dont understand why people should asocciate you filming videos with cam models qith your religion because they’re people as well, it doesnt make you less religious or less of a good person.
nut there are a lot of different kinds of Buddhism and not all Buddhists monks and lay people are strictly vegetarian just sayinnn
Yeah
nut you’re not obligated to be vegetarian:)
nut I’m a Buddhist and I can confirm that we eat meat. We just don’t hunt or kill because we believe in ahimsa.
I eat meat I don’t eat red meat just because I feel that it’s not good for my body but it doesn’t have anything to do with being a Buddhist, some eat meat and some don’t but yes we don’t kill or hunt animals
Awesome. Love your story. I went to become a monk in Thailand as well. Going back again in July 😁
Look at you now 🤸🏼♀️🤸🏼♀️🤸🏼♀️
Wow it's funny to see this now
Man you are so lucky to have the opportunity of becoming a Buddhist monk.very very lucky.
I'm so attract to this man and his mind
I once had a co-worker who was a monk in Tibet, he said he left the monastery temporarily to take care of his mom. While in his 'hiatus' he had sex and realized he could never go back.
Hiatus?? Mean?
@@Jivi_Galaxy itmeans break
Sabat Ismail Oh how sad to loose a Great opportunity ...
Lust is great enemy to the Path of Renunciation .
However as a layman he can still
1.continue to be virtuous,
2. reflect greatly on the Strong Will of The Buddha and the paramithas fullfilled by the bodhisatwa,
3. and do strong Vipassana Meditation on mindfulness of body or kayagathasati ( especially on loathsomeness as that is the antidote for lust , as wellas other treacherous qualities of one's own body) and strive for success.
The Bodhisatwa and Arhants too went through Many failures.
The Path to Enlightenment is the same for laymen and bhikkus.. the monks code of conduct helps in reaching the final goal faster
@@deela262 Sex, like any action, can be done with love and consciousness, or through attachment and lust.
It is not nobler to live away from society rather than in it.
@@-whackd Renunciation of lay life and becoming a monastic IS Noble but admittedly hard, and needs the backing of enormous past good kamma.
However as a layman, living a good family life too one can reach the Noble goal. The buddhist monastic code insists on celibacy.. The order of Sangha is Pure. Anyone who has transgressed loses the entitlement to remain as a member of higher ordained sangha.
But everyone can strive to Cultivate the Brahma Viharas- universal goodwill for all living beings ( metta) , universal compassion ( karuna) , joy at the wellbeing of enemies ( mudita) and equanimity towards All ( upekkha).
These things make sense only when put in context of the ultimate goal of Nibbana..
I spent 2 years at a Thai temple as a western Monk. It was truely life changing. Love your story. With metta.
How long it took for them eyebrows to grow back I wonder
Several months
I love this, and his insights on being a buddhist and his experience at the monastery. Truly resonates with me :’)
Every video i feel like i'm more in love with Aria than i think i could be
Okay, but where are his air bending tattoos.
He's not a master yet, duuuh

I just started a binge watch of Aria videos because of his personality. This video enlightened me on why he is so interesting and caring in the BuzzFeed network.
He's too cute and sweet
Bless Aria! A beautiful soul and a great addition to Buzzfeed. Looking forward to more of your videos
Born a Muslim, I adopted Buddhism as a way of life a couple years ago. Never been so at peace with my life ever before. Completely transformed.
Yes! Buddhism is so transforming! Everyone should follow Buddhism
Beautiful, thanks for putting that out there
@@yasin_58_ Your addiction to compulsive ritual is your greatest delusion
@MSA 212 mindfulness is what is transformational, concentration on the present and not following the fears in your mind is what is transformational not necessarily the religion itself. The mystery and intrigue with religion can only take you so far.
@MSA 212 fascists using cultural identity as a way to scapegoat minorities is a common occurrence. Buddhists don't need to defend themselves for something that is fundamentally not buddhist.
Thank you for being a voice representing Buddhism and Thai/Laos culture. ❤
That sign kick was amazing. I'm so glad it was recorded.
Yesss, as a Thai person, it’s so nice to see Thai culture(also Laotian probs idk) culture being explained in this light. Great job, Aria!
Now that he said this...why did you kick down a sign...on a mountain?
I love that Buzzfeed is exploring Buddhism. Definitely not one that’s always talked about but nice to learn even if I’m not Buddhist myself
I totally relate to his story. I’ve lived my life for the last 2 years as a full time missionary- and although many things are “given to you”, it’s the sacrifice of leaving behind the things you love for a greater love that hurts the most, but also breathes so much life
I'm so surprised that I found this clip. I used to be an monk's teacher in that monastery you got an ordination for almost 2 years. But now came back to Bangkok. Anumodana for your merit making!! 😇
I believe in buddhism, i got a few medallions from a buddhist friend in Thailand blessed by the monks.
I’m Laotian and live in Houston Texas, we have our own temple and I went through the same experience! Really valuable time
Lovely story 💛

Wait a minute I know an Air Temple when I see one. You didn't run into the Avatar did you?
theylied1776 you DO know that’s something you shouldn’t say right.
Lee Jia Wei What are you, Fire Nation?
No sadly the fire nation then did attack
Food FOOD!! Offend someone? They're Buddhist!
Food FOOD!! I don't think this is offensive as the avatar series was strongly based on Buddhism.
I've been thinking of adopting Buddhist principles without actually becoming a monk!
Blurryfaced It is rather simple to do so, without becoming a monk yourself. There’s like no major transition like for example baptism, and I’m sure every religion has something fruitful for each of us to learn. Good luck!!
You don't need to become a monk to practice Buddhism anyway😊 you'll just be a Lay Buddhist
In term of Buddhism, you can follow when ever you want, or give up when ever you feel like to. No big ceremony what so ever like baptism...etc. Do what you want, supper chill
also the history of Buddha is really interesting
Sand Shadow actually Buddhism do have smth like "baptism" idk what its called in English, but in chinese its called "归依" and "受戒" where the monks give u a "Buddhist name" and you kinda pledge to follow the teachings of the Buddha
I'm Thai and I love the way he explained buddhism, It's easy to understand and it's right
Yes. Im not familiar with Buddhism. So the way he explained it really understandable
I also agree with 3:58 - 4:10
I went to Thailand this past April and it was just so beautiful. I got blessed by a monk in a monastery!!!
Buddhism is such a beautiful and an interesting religion.
The amount of avatar comments in here is killing me lmaoo
I feel it shaped you to what you are today,so kind, loving!!
my father was a monk in chiangmai too! he’s from ireland and found it rlly hard lol
How sweet and sincere! Thanks, Aria.
the very last part oh my god he really put his all into kicking that signboard lmao
Thank you for sharing your life's journey as a Buddhist Monk. It was very insightful.
I believe this guy has become the new, “most interesting man.”
Sooo I'm a buddhist and my temple actually got this 2 week summer monastery programme where you'll experience everything Aria just told you in this video. We call the newbie monks "Samanera". After 2 weeks you can choose to get back to normal life or continue learning to be a real buddhist monk or as we called them "Bikkhu". It's a real long way to go from one point to another, my friend gave up after 5 to 6 years and he was not even close to be a monk yet.
“We believe in rebirth, which is, uh, ...swell”
😂😂😂
haha I thought that was so American sounding xD
Rebirth is not something to believe coz its a Fact
Such a cool and eye opening story. Thanks Ari for sharing
Actually there were monks today in my school in Thailand
I need more of him in my life.....please Buzzfeed
“Swell” is such a cute word 😂
i had no idea many people joined the monastery after high school. i think that's really awesome!
I am Buddhist as well. Thank you for sharing your experience Aria :) _/|\_
Did not expect something with Buddhism so it's pretty interesting being a Buddhist and all myself
Ive always wanted to. I’ve read some books bout Buddhism also and it seems interesting
Biggie Smallz what books have you read, I wonder...
Lee Jia Wei You can read Siddarttha by Hermen Hesse
Hailey Small
Go for Bhikkhu Bodhi's books, an American Jewish monk.
It's a way of life.
I really love the way he told the story.
When I was in Thailand 🇹🇭, they thought I was Thai so I had to pray to the Buddha. It’s a way of life :)
I wont lie, It is really amazing to see a Lao American on Buzzfeed
BuzzFeed, use Aria as much as you can for videos...great in front of a camera! Cool story too
I like this guy. More pls! Make him a regular!
omfg that end of the video of him repeatedly kicking the sign aksjhfkd
Thank you for your great story. It is great that there are many more people with Thai descent living oversea who share their stories or experiences about Thai culture. It is one of the the ways to spread more information about Thai culture to broader audiences in many countries.
And it all changed when the fire nation attacked...
I’m might cry... never actually thought of that. (I’m Buddhist)
I like the Buddhist culture. My dad had a Buddhist statue on his nightstand. Thanks for sharing your experience. I never realized eyebrows shaved too.
Whoa my brother and dad were monks just a week ago. We're Burmese buddhists.
Destiel Trash anumodhana sadhu to both of you
What's the deal with the Rohingya massacre?
5ufy9n
Honestly I don't know. I think it's a two sided thing? What most people don't know is neither side is innocent. I don't support either side though. I just want people to stop killing each other and my home land to be peaceful again. I love Buddhists as much as I love muslims. People killing muslims in the name of Buddha is just wrong because the number one rule of Buddhism is not killing.
Destiel Trash I would definitely agree with you regarding Buddhism's rule about not killing. But the footages and real life accounts of the witnesses regarding what has been happening there are pretty devastating to hear. It's the innocents - Children, Women, Elderly, Regular civilians who are suffering the most and generalizing them to be among the not innocent ones isn't fair either I believe. And the Rohingya are supposedly one of the most persecuted minority and these acts have been committed now for decades already. Thinking about someone getting kicked out of one's own home where one has been born and living his/her whole life there really saddens me a lot. I hope peace truly flourishes in the Buddhist majority nation and they are given equal rights as every one else out there and the refugee crisis comes to an end. Peace
Oh, I'm a Burmese Buddhist too. I don't see a lot of Burmese people in the comment section so this is a nice surprise lol :p.
I love how there is a Lao producer on buzzed!!!!!! living for it :D
The universe in my temple and love is my religion❤️.
Seriously, I'm not Buddhist but I wish every religious person were. The world would be much peaceful
No it wouldn't, despite the romantic idealism projected on it there has been just as many wars and violent expansions in buddhist history
Ikr
Kung-Fu Kenny Family You clearly haven't been paying attention to the Rohingya Crisis and the Sri Lankan Civil War. Moron.
