- This is the 3rd movement of Moonlight Sonata reimagined as a Dragon Quest Battle theme.
I used samples from Dragon Quest 5 (nintendo DS) and I'm really pleased with the way it sounds!
Crazy idea I've had since 2014 but never got around to working on it until recently.

I know basically nothing about Dragon Quest, know next to nothing about it's music. This remix still impresses me, and I still love it. If that doesn't testify to the quality of something like this, in that someone who knows nothing about something can still appreciate it immensely I dunno. That probably means it's really good.

To be fair, Holst's Mars was a big influence on one of Mario Galaxy's tracks, and Chopin literally got a whole ridiculous JRPG (Eternal Sonata) where the Revolutionary Etude was used as the basis for the final boss theme!

Doesn't Eternal Sonata have a lot of inspiration for that? Hell, Chopin is one of the characters.

Oh my goodness you need to make more Dragon Quest style things, because i'm in freakin' love. even a NES classical music remix in the dragon quest style i'd die for. Amazing work.
Brilliant work. In addition to it working really well in this new context, I think you've shone a light on some of the implied scoring from Beethoven's writing. I spent a semester back as an undergrad playing a classical clarinet in an early music ensemble, and one of things that stuck with me was how pianos from this era of history were much less even throughout different registers, so you could think of different registers being used to elicit the effects of orchestral sections. It just works so well to have those full fortissimo chords bashed out by a brass section :)

I wish this idea came to me by studying music but it just happened while I was playing DQ5 while listening to the piano version a few years ago. Also YES, sequencing the brass for this was the most fun I had during the process, especially at 1:12. Glad to know you liked this!

I don't really know the music from the persona games, but from what I've heard they're not really my style. But who knows maybe I can find the perfect persona song for me in the future :0

Not sure if I can spread those around BUT you can extract any midi file and any instrument in wav/sf2 format from DS games using VGMTrans!
