    Two tips: 1. To remove paper from foam board, spray it lightly (or brush lightly) with isopropyl or denatured alcohol. It will peel right off. (Note: water won't work.) 2. To remove hot glue from a servo or other smooth surface, apply alcohol (or mineral spirits or lacquer thinner) with a cotton swab and the hot glue will pop right off. PS: I enjoy your videos!

    Nice work, Tim. The foam/carbon fiber scratch-built approach seems like it would be rewarding. And a person can delve more into the "scale" details, IF that's important. I'm working with a static Guillow's F6F model, right now .. and hoping that my stash of party wrap cellophane will work for the covering.

      Ken: Thanks for checking in! Agree with your points. And the Guillows Hellcat is a great kit. Consider making a flying one some day, the model is very easy to convert to RC, see my conversion here. Tim

    A low wing version would be really nice maybe with a longer tail moment like a pattern aircraft.Even a larger more powerful motor for speed.

    As you can tell, I'm a new newbie. I see planes with rudder and elevator. I see planes with rudder, elevator, and ailerons. I haven't seen builds with ailerons and elevator. Is there a reason for no rudder in some of your builds ?

    • @TimMcKay56
      @TimMcKay56  3 роки тому

      Robert: We all started somewhere! For most "Sunday flyer" models, rudder is not used all that much in the air. For slower aircraft, the rudder is usually enough to turn the model, easier to install than ailerons. For faster models, the ailerons are a must for bank control, like the Stagger Wing. Tim

    Kfm3 airfoil would work fantastic for this model. I hope you try it .

      Yes! I have a foam board plane with 60" wing, 8" chord, and KFm3 airfoil. The plane is a floater; the wing has excellent stall characteristics.

    The plan with measurements is super. I love no having to print. Could an Armin wing work on this model. I have been looking for a Bi-wing were the top wing is attached directly to body. Thank you

    • @TimMcKay56
      @TimMcKay56  3 роки тому

      Robert: An Armin wing would certainly work. Just double the foam board on the fuselage for additional strength. Tim

      @@TimMcKay56 You mentioned raising the top wing to have more space between the wings. What is the space between the wings now? How much would you raise it? I wasn't sure I got the total height of the fuselage correct. I'll start cutting the foam tomorrow Thanks again.

    • @TimMcKay56
      @TimMcKay56  3 роки тому

      Robert: 3” space between two wings. It flies fine with this, if you raise it for appearance sake only. Tim

    Hi there!
    I don't know if it helps and if its available in the us, but if you dont want to shave off the paper, it might be a good idea to use a depron plate wich is sold in europe as a dam plate.
    Best regards!

    Morning Tim, are these full scale plans where I print them on regular printing paper and then tape them together?

    • @TimMcKay56
      @TimMcKay56  3 роки тому

      Cliff: Not full scale plans. There is a separate plan with dimensions. All straight lines, easy to sketch out on the foam board. Tim

    Tim McKay you played it off good acting like you did'nt mistake your plane for a sledgehammer for a split second,

    Can you use the 20% of the combined chords on biplanes when the upper wing is leading the lower wing?

    • @TimMcKay56
      @TimMcKay56  3 роки тому

      Rodney: Per the video, I used 25% back from the leading edge of the forward wing to determine the CG, although I think you could go to 28%. The stagger does not matter, same rule if top wing is forward from the lower wing. Tim

      That would be fantastic if you could as your video is very well-made but as a beginner builder I’m having Difficulty with the small print of the regular plans. And measurements and formers aren’t very clear as someone else mentioned. Anyway Tim …thank you

    • @TimMcKay56

      Cliff: Keep in mind the design is quite simple. Straight lines, etc. Use the 6” ruler to get a good idea on dimensions. 😊👍🏻 Tim
