  • The Slovacka suita was composed in 1903 by the Czech neo-romanticist Vítězslav Novák.
The painting is called "Among the Sierra Nevada Mountains" by Albert Bierstadt, painted in 1868.
    Conductor: Libor Pesek
    Orchestra: Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra
    Recorded in 1997.
If you only want this song, here's a link to a Mediafire download in FLAC: www.mediafire.c...
I originally got it form here: avaxhome.ws/mus...
(EDIT: Site's down, folks! Maybe you'll have some luck finding a cached version by Google or Archive.org)
The other songs from that CD are good as well, but it's a long download, it being from Rapidshare and all. (Good stuff)

This is the most beautiful piece of music I have ever known. My husband and I discovered it twenty years ago. We loved it so much and took it as our wedding theme music. I have played it on every special day. It will remain the most beautiful piece for the rest of my life.

I will try that, Sarah, and pass it on to Dougie Henshall & his wife. The Slovak Suite in parts has little echoes of a French composer which I am racking my brains[Mother Goose Suite] The first time I heard the Slovak Suite was before Easter on Classic FM. A wonderful way I feel to acquaint young people to classical music. As the piece progressed towards the organ, my heart soared with exhilaration.

I needed this music. Just discovered it, driving home from work a few days ago. I'm going through a rough emotional patch right now and this will give me a boost. I adore the romantic tones of summer, and how this music can elevate a part of us that nobody can define or identify.

Couldn't agree with you more, I sent a tweet to the actor, Douglas Henshall and told him where to find it, I hope he introduces it to his wee daughter, Anya, She will be three near the end of this year and it is a great way to educate young ears to classical music. Once they hear this sort of thing, they usually want to hear more, don't you agree?

Classic FM in the UK keep playing this recording of "At church". I have no objection whatever (I love the piece) but until I looked it up hadn't realised this recording was 23 years old. It says something about the quality of the interpretation, the playing, and the recording.

The start of this music was enough to send me in raptures, especially when the organ came in I temporarily switched off and clicked into Twitter to send out a tweet to the actor, Douglas Henshall to listen to, I hope he will pass it on to his wife, Tena who comes from, Croatia, former Yugoslavia. I reckon she will love it.

Those deer seem remarkably unconcerned about the 10 megaton H-bomb going off in the distance. Perhaps they were blinded by the flash. What do you call a deer with no eyes? No idea. What do you call a dead deer with no eyes? Still no idea. Or maybe they're all drunk - out on a stag do.
