My peroneal nerve (longus )is popping out .doctor has said me to that longus is coming out of its groove .hence groove deepening is required. My question is that i can run with this situation?
I feel so lost in this process. I just received MRI results with dx of split brevis tendon in right foot from peroneus brevis tendon from near the peroneal tubercle likely extending to the tendon insertion. I don’t know where on the foot this is? The area that requires a surgery or the area on the outside underneath that does not? Small volume of fluid along the distal peroneus brevis tendon. The peroneus longs tendon remains intact. The superior peroneal retinaculum remains intact. Can you assist with location?
Hi Leila, thank you for watching and for sharing your experience. I know these injuries can be very confusing, and the reports can be frustrating! If it would be helpful we could get on a webcam call and go through your MRI images to show you what each of these findings mean.
My foot was run over by a car 4 months ago and MRI showed low grade intrasubstance tearing of brevis 2.1 cm beginning just distal of lateral maleolar tip. This would not be the location where the longus would rub against the brevis and make it worse right? My doctor recommended physical therapy and maybe surgery and an ankle brace and I was on crutches for 3 weeks twice. How do you know if a tendon is healed? I also have/ had plantar fasciitis, everything feels much better after bracing and staying off of it, but it also feels weak and weird. Its so difficult to know where you are in terms of healing. I have been walking around the house w an ankle brace for a week, feels mostly fine, wonder when i can go outside on walks again or if it will flare up again.
Hello Mirjam, thank you for watching and I am sorry to hear about your injury. Since I am not your doctor, I cannot make any comments on your injury progress, or your specific course of recovery without understanding all of the details of your injury and medical history that would normally be obtained through a consultation. If you want to get on WebCam call or phone call you can arrange and connect with me directly through docontherun.com
I had surgery to repair a split peroneal tendon about 18 months ago. As i got further along in my recent marathon training cycle (+50 miles a week), I’ve noticed the outside of my foot feeling numb. It doesn’t hurt or affect my running gait. Should i be concerned?
Thanks for watching and I hope you found a video helpful. It's good to see that you got back to a training cycle after your surgery. I cannot advise you based on that amount of information. Is your surgeon concerned??
