"Now excuse me, I have to give a lecture on...psychoanalyzing."
THE SASS THOUGH
Enigmatic Koi Must be one of the reasons why Hannibal never made him into dinner - eating that much salt just wouldn't be healthy...
qwertyCandy Hahah touchè!
You won't like me when I'm angry is a line said by ed nortan in hulk 2008, who also played will in red dragon
i wish i could forget this show and rewatch it
WhupTheeDoo wow me too.
Same. I watched season 1 in the fall, binging like a recluse, and I felt like I was the one going crazy.
I feel that
@@vanyadolly i felt like murdering for a month after watching it.
Idem
Such a good actor, such a good show. I miss Hannibal.
Likewise... the void has not been replaced.
ahhhh!!! Mads with a mustache!!!!!
From what I've read, it's becoming more and more likely that Netflix will pick it up
Unfortunately there was a clause in the contract for the show that prevents Netflix and HBO from picking the show up
Cant we just... bring it back? I heard that bryan fuller is working on the fourth seasion
Mads Mikkelsen has done a fantastic job at portraying Hannibal Lector's character .
Is that a joke? He is ugly and has no charm. Real psychopaths in general and the literary Hannibal Lecter in particular were very charming. This guy seems autistic.
JustAPerson Ugly?? How high are your standards? Besides charm isn't about a beautiful face..the man did a great job at being a psychopath
JustAPerson if you think he's ugly, I'd hate to see what you consider an attractive person.
Hip-Hop Game of Thrones Never have I read a comment so far from the truth
he reminds me of the brain cox hannibal in manhunter.
i have huge respect for Anthony Hopkins and i love his portrayal of Hannibal but for me Mads' take the edge.. His version of Hannibal is perfect
Indeed... Not to mention that is even more accurate to the book's description of Hannibal
That was the intention. Bryan Fuller wanted Mads to be the definitive Hannibal.
"you wont like me when i'm psychoanalysed" oh, believe me, he will
Hannibal's voice is awesome
Mads is so handsome I might die.
what what i did die.😍
Me too, this is my ghost speaking. Man, even though I'm dead because of him, he's still really pretty...
what what not pretty. hot
hot as all hell.
Yes hot. But he's pretty to look at. lol
what what *purrs* that too.😍
1x01: "This... cannibal. You have him getting to know. I think I can help good Will see his face."
2x13: "Now that you know me... see me."
You really took your time, Hanni :D
"This... cannibal", dude! It's not him.
@@ThanhPham-xw7ty but... We can't deny that Hobbs jump started everything... And I'm 100% sure that those words were put there to be seen as parallels.
@@ThanhPham-xw7ty right lol. It was Garet jacob hobbs. This wasnt about him. But i see how some could mix up the interpretation.
Mads is awesome as Hannibal Lecter. He's both creepy and charismatic, and those dead eyes when turned on you; like he can take you apart with a look.
Crying I forgot how much I miss that voice.
yes... ;(
same.
Why?
levorne will there be a season 4
Emily Ding we are still hoping that there is!
Mads Mikkelsen ... rarely has there been a casting decision as good as this.
the greatest love story ever told.
I would love to see an analysis battle between this Hannibal and BBC's Sherlock Holmes
Omg yes that would be great
+ShinobiPXO hmmm wouldnt last long before Hannibal realised how discourteous and arrogant sherlock can be. He would get eaten/
Lewis C I don't know. I'm sure Hannibal would respect Sherlock's intelligence to a certain degree. And I have feeling Sherlock could soon figure out Hannibal's eating habits
+ShinobiPXO Sherlock would kill him at the end for the sake of his friends
+ShinobiPXO although different characters, i think the new show Doctor Strange will be the closest we get to that..
Don't psychoanalyze me, you won't like me when i'm psychoanalyzed.*Turns into hulk.*xD
The way he says it really reminds me of Bruce Banner.
It's verry ironic.
that's not irony
Valhallen002 It's ironic because actor Edward Norton played as William in the 2001 film "Hannibal",and then as Bruce Banner/Hulk in the 2008 film "The Incredible Hulk".
Tasin Al-Hassan No that's just a coincidence.
+Valhallen002 I had say that's Irony and coincidence.
The 'you wont like me when i'm psychoanalysed' is a nod to Ed Norton who played Will in 'Red Dragon', as Ed played HULK too.
It'a amazing how Mads gaze switches from shark like, cold and uninterested, to warm and calming.
For those who do not understand what Lecter is telling Will, it is this:
"I imagine what you see and hear touches everything else in your mind. Your values and decency are present yet shocked at your associations. Appaled at your dreams. No forts in the bone arena of your skull for things you love."
Something in extremely similar words is said in Red Dragon when Will is on the roof of the Leeds' house when investigating their murder by Dolarhyde. It is an analysis said by Thomas Harris about Graham.
eduardo lopez-guzman Thank you so much!!
It’s pretty much word by word I’ve read the books
The leeds house thats interesting mother leeds is the woman who gave birth to the jersey devil he was her 13th child. The description of him is similar to a red Dragon although he also sometimes has goats feet of other chimeric qualities
"What he has is pure empathy. He can assume your point of view, or mine, or maybe some other point of view that scare him. It's an uncomfortable gift Jack. Deception is a tool less pointed on both ends. This cannibal, you're having him getting to know him? I think I can help good Will see his face."
Shame they cancelled it.
They actually didn't. The director said it was the perfect ending to the show and probably that's the reason season 4 will never be made...
I love how bits and pieces of Red Dragon's dialogue were incorporated into the show. When Hannibal diagnoses Will to Jack, that is pretty much exactly what Dr. Alan bloom said in Red Dragon.
Mads is the perfect Hannibal and Hugh is the perfect Will and I ship hannigram they are perfect for each h other
this comment are my thoughts EXACTLY
i'm sorry to say but yes he is a good actor but i think that Hopkins is still the best of em all.
Rudolph_the_Badass I think they both perfectly show each side to Hannibal which develops the lecter character so well . Hopkins' performance shows the more obvious and remorseless evil side to Hannibal . Whereas I'd think of mads' one as showing Hannibal hiding in plain sight to fit in with society while being undetected . Like they said in the show I think it shows Hannibal wearing his " person suit" . You see Hopkins do the same in the Hannibal movie but I think it was much more fleshed out in the show
Jarry 4ever he's great. but I've always preferred brian cox.
Also the platonic Madancy...to die for. .
Will is so adorable, that it almost is unbearable.. I can understand u, hanni ;)
"like a little teacup" lol
I love how Hannibal brings his own coffee. Aaand he shares.
it's probably people.
Maybe, but I don't think human bodily fluids feature regularly on Hannibal's menu, or recipe repertoire. Unless it's black pudding. Ba-dum-tiss.
Dorcas Malahlela in hannibal, when Lecter serves Raspail to his dinner party Starling says that he served, "a notable dark and glossy ragout, the constituents never determined" ;]
honestly coffee machines all taste terrible
Chello A cup of Joe ;)
I completely agree with you, I think Mads is perfect for Dr. Lecter. I remember reading that Anthony Hopkins himself advised Mads Mikkelsen to be "normal" and not to play Hannibal as "evil" because like Mads said, "I'm still a practicing psychiatrist." In a sense, he could seriously expose himself if he plays crazy and diabolical. Mads plays the perfect "normal" type of evil, Lecter is not a sociopath or psychopath, but the closest thing you can come to the devil - pure evil.
Will is actually a very funny character. He cracks jokes like he did here throughout the entire series but since he's so awkward and jerky they come off more creepy than funny.
nope
Hannibal looks more casual and friendlier at this point. kinda cuter =P
What exactly makes him attractive to you? My girlfriend says I resemble him physically, but I assume you're referring to his look and intellect. Yes?
+zeus7623 what a lucky girlfriend
He's a total package. Looks, acting, brain, Athletic, and down to earth personality.
OMG you people are hilarious i personally think that Anthony is still the best actor
Too bad he's a remorseless killer.
THAT ACCENT THAT VOICE
I. JUST. LOVE MADS SO MUCH
HE PLAYS HANNIBAL SO FREAKING PERFECTLY
I CANNOT
I would *die* if Mikkelsen was cast as Dr. Doom. He'd kill the material he was handed.
Either Doom or Chthon. Both clever and cerebral villains.
Ah, but he'd already been cast in Dr. Strange so he's already a part of the MCU. I too think he would be an awesome Dr. Doom.
this show is art on tv, specially the oniric views of the mind proyections of Will. great shooting, beautiful photography, outstanding acting. it creates an enviroment of cinema, like every episode is a well done movie.
Mads Mikkelsen is such a beautiful human being
Bring the show back! People still stream it!
Another great European actor. Mads is great as Hannibal, better than Hopkins in my eyes. Hopkins slight American twang he gave his Lector never sounded right, where as Mads Danish tones fit perfectly. Hannibal the character is Lithuanian, and Mads even though he's Danish fits that perfectly.
i miss Hannibal too...
Will sensed right away that Hannibal is a terrible person
A delightful Saltine. Love Will. Watching early clips you see how much confidence he gains.
At first I was like, noone can be better than Hopkins. After watching this movie-quality show, nobody can play better than Mads. This guy is such a great actor, I didn't think anyone with a foreign accent could be that convincing!
You can just hear Mads/Hannibals danish accent!
I love this incarnation of Hannibal, Mads Mikkelsen is giving this awesome performance as Lecter that is difficult not compare with Hopkins who always have been magnificent playing Lecter. This show is amazing both Mikkelsen and Dancy also Laurence Fishburne are Terrific on this roles, great season so far.
#saveHannibal. Best show ever
What's funny is those two starred in the Clive Owens King Arthur movie, and there's a scene where Hugh's character comments on how he doesn't like the killing, but others do, and the camera goes RIGHT OVER TO MADS. Nice foreshadowing.
This is an excellent show! My new favorite series. Great actors, smart writting, and fantastic imagery... Proud FANnibal here!
As much as I love Hannibal I have a hard time understanding Mads. Its a combination of his accent, and extended metaphors and big words he uses. I find myself needing to replay his lines sometimes. Maybe im just dumb lol
You're not dumb.
MidnightEkaki I also have difficulty with understanding what he says at times, the fact that I live in Europe and English isn't my native language doesn't help either
I found it very hard to understand him in S1 but as I have got use to his accent/voice it isnt as bad
+MidnightEkaki As someone who loves accents and has been raised with different languages, I find him not hard to understand at all. I think his accent (which is actually more his way of formulating words and sentences, he does this in Danish as well) is perfect for this character. it gives him much more of a mysterious vibe. I find the character very scary at times, but because of Mads voice, it feels like i can trust him. I would love for him to read me a bedtime story...
But I understand it can be difficult for people not familiar with certain accents. Don't worry, just keep watching and listening. You'll get used and wont have the problem anymore after a little while :)
+Daniel N As a Dutch person I can't agree. Living in Europe makes me understand the different accents so much better. I get confronted with them every day...
"If you can't beat God, become him."
Hannibal thinks he took the ultimate kick in the teeth by God and withstood it. And thus surmises that he must be something of equal power.
He then began to build himself up Batman style and attains expert level in many trades and art forms. He masters himself and the world around him. And I think somewhere in all of this "becoming" he develops a god complex. Something completely above morality. Like a man would be to farm animals. Or maybe even more.
God kills indiscriminately and with cruelty. While as Hannibal only eats the rude or kills for survival. Hannibal takes "wasted" lives and masterfully transforms them into delectable works of art so that they may sustain the lives of more deserving people.
God makes the lemons and he turns them into lemonade. He loves quality and he applies it to everything he does. So naturally he'd want someone to appreciate it. And not just in certain things. But to fully understand and discern all the little nuances of his masterpiece--of his life.
A god's existence is contingent on whether people believe in him or not. And who better than Will and Abigail? Hannibal is sure that Will's "super-empathy" will allow him to digest the full genius of his work. While Abigail brings some experience and understanding as this isn't her first rodeo with a cannibal.
All of them orphans becoming one "enlightened" family. Victims that took their power back from a God that he believes threw them in Hell.
Ultimately, unlike the other serial killers featured in the show, Hannibal's madness is not physiological. It's delusional.
At least until he can find people to believe in his view of himself and others.
*Hannibal's psychiatrist, Bedelia is much like Tobias. In the sense that she wants to save the Michael Jackson in her life from himself.
When Hannibal asks Tobias, “In this Michael Jackson fantasy, how was this friendship returned?”
Tobias simply states, “I just get to touch greatness.”
Basically, Hannibal is a bad boy and Bedelia thinks she's the only one who can fix him. Classic.
Mind Blown
+Bryan Vincent who says the first quote? Hannibal?
Berke Nihat Akay and what is the punishment for not believing God?
Berke Nihat Akay religion. if you leave it the punishment is death.
Berke Nihat Akay but nonetheless it is.
“I imagine what you see and learn touches everything else in your mind. Your values and decency are present yet shocked at your associations, appalled at your dreams.”
Oh my word...just watched Fromage - and I didn't think it possible to love this show anymore than I already did. I was wrong. Terrific! Keeps getting better.
Mads Mikkelsen is an undeniably gorgeous man.
Crazy watching interviews of Mads speaking his 1st language and then hearing his English this clean is amazing to see really
Damn I miss this show
I'm as big a fan of this show as anyone could be without watching a single episode
It’s creepy how accurate he is. If I remember right his analysis almost directly identical to Will’s explanation of why he doesn’t do profiling that often in the books.
Why, why, did they not cast him as Euron Greyjoy.
Because there dumb
Both these men have SATISFYING voices
Mads really is fantastic in this role - very cool, in control exterior yet terribly unpredictable - looks capable of doing anything at any minute. Have mixed feelings about finding a cannibalistic psychiatrist so attractive! Nice job with Graham too, best so far really as he is so conflicted/awkward as you'd expect the character to be. Very impressed thus far - can't wait till tomorrows!
I've read that a lot of folks can't understand Mads Mikkelsen when he speaks. I don't know why--I mean, he has a soft palate lisp you could set up shop in, and so does Hugh--the producers must issue rain slickers to extras on-set--but I love them both, speech impediments aside.
xD you are an arse hahah but its a cute slip and you did show him love so ill let it pass :)
janeswurld lisp? ugh spellcheck
janeswurld No, you are a deaf idiot, little girl. It's even a topic of conversation on several other sites, where adults with ears and not spoony-in-lust with a man old enough to be their father actually talk. Spellcheck your tiny brain.
dude get off your rag, i meant to say lisp but my computer spelled slip. you're so moody you're reading over everything and assuming i'm offending you :\ it's ok mines is almost here i'll cry with you about it ;] even if you are old or young. and btw its not lust its not always sexual i find accents beautiful. you know i'm so little and obviously i cant travel anywhere so i enjoy people bringing their home countries to me in their accents. go back to your site and tell everyone about how i pissed you off here because this was probably the highlight of your day :)
runemal909 Tata "J"
xD
This is literally the best show have ever seen
I love him sooo much
Yes, It premieres on NBC this thursday.
ROFLLL XD I thought it was just me!!! but you have to admit it gets better and better ... I was like that at first but now I am officially addicted to him and Especially his voice... and he really does the role justice!!He really dominates every scene he is in!! Biggest FANNIBAL right here!!
"This cannibal you have him getting to know... I think I can help good WIll see his face" He's referring to himself that's such a twisted yet great line by Hannibal
"I imagine what you see and learn touches everything else in your mind. Your values and decency are present yet shocked at your associations - appalled at your dreams. No forts in the bone arena of your skull for things you love."
It's funny because Edward Norton once played the character of Will Graham in Red Dragon (a prequel to Silence of the Lambs) and later on played Bruce Banner/Hulk.
Great show. I'll be having nightmares for weeks.
This scene is ICONIC
Will Graham says "Don't psychoanalyze me, you wouldn't like me when I'm psychoanalyzed.", a reference to the comic book character, The Incredible Hulk, and his famous "Don't make me angry..." line. The Hulk was portrayed in "The Incredible Hulk" by Edward Norton, the same actor who played Will Graham in Red Dragon (2002)
This show will be awesome!!!
I watched the whole boxset in 2 days....absolutely brilliant :-)
Love the David Banner line.
Hannibal is so smart
Prøv det, fantastisk serie :)
Hannibal in his head: LOOOOOVE CRIIIIIIIIIIIIME!!!!!!
this show is so brilliantly written holy fuckeroo
You know that point where you draw blood from biting your finger so much because of all the memories and feels?
Mads = Best Hannibal ever
they missed a perfect opportunity to say "I think I can help Good Will Hunt 'im."
I miss it :(
Funny, Incredible Hulk reference.
Deadwood and Hannibal. The two shows with my favorite dialogue!
Yup! I've never heard of Deadwood...maybe I'll check it out?
Bianca Aletti You definitely should. It was a western series on HBO that ran for 3 seasons before being cancelled. It's in my top three favorite shows of all time.
He sounded like he was about to hulked out there, lol
Wow, you're right!
Damn I MISS this show. BRING THEM BACK NETFIX!!!
its likely true that he researched Will and every other member of behavioral analysis, however as time goes on we see that his intellect is far superior to any at the FBI and that he likely has no lack of empathy or cause in his own mind to kill his victims the reason being that his actions are less about his own urges and more related to a social critique, he hates those who are uncivilized even while being about as uncivilized as can be in two particular aspects, murder and cannibalism, he is a fiction but a fascinating one.
I prepared them in a civilised way. I ate them in a civilised way. I released them from their uncourteousness. It was my gift to let them spend their last moments of their flesh in a civilised way. The whole process is more civilised than they could ever be. But what is civilised? Is it an expected behaviour based on acceptable perceptions of societies? After all, if slaughterhouses would be made public, would they be considered civilised?
Eating each other poses a danger to the whole.
It would be interesting to witness it happening.
actually, hannibal does lack empathy. it's shown in little comments, and not often, but there are instances there he tries to be reassuring and is unintentionally cruel. like the comment about will getting a bit of abigail back (the ear which he had stuffed down will's throat).
I think he new exactly the affect he intended to have and executed it with near surgical precision.
miss hannigram so much and Jack too
Great quote from Red Dragon
This show is really good. I recommend watching it. Its really interesting.
prince char has come very far 🙏
Minnesota is a great place!
Yeah, I almost wondered if that was some kind of in-joke about Edward Norton playing Bruce Banner in The Incredible Hulk.
I just keep being reminded of Paul Darrow for some reason.
When Morpheus forgets he's still in the matrix.
I never watched this or know the characters so I think it's will that has the glasses
Well, will I have to be honest, you look like Harry Potter
Crawford: Maybe we shouldn't poke him like that, doctor.
Yaoi fanbase: That's what he said...
0:37
Sassy Will
I think that was intentional hommage to Ed Norton, since he was acting both Will Graham and Bruce Banner
"You won't like me when i'm psychoanalysed."
He would be a good Bruce Banner wouldn't he.
this foo wild 😂😂
He is brilliant as Hannibal isn't he. His eyes tell this really dark past. I completely agree, he is just as good as Anthony Hopkins but then again they are very different portrayals of Hannibal aren't they. Anthony Hopkins did fantastic at playing as a very freaky demon like version of Hannibal when Mads Mikkelsen portrays him as a very mysterious character. Antony had those eyes of a monster when Mads has the eyes of a crow.
0:27 *nailed it*
Very well said. And I agree with you on Mads. In fact, he's what kept me watching. I was about to quit when Lawrence yelled "USE THE LADIES ROOM". I just thought "Great more shitty, over acting drama". But Mads performance kept me watching.
Tell me about the most traumatizing moment of your childhood. And don't lie, or else I'll know.
