This video was originally posted in 2014. After receiving over a million views, Steve Hofstetter pulled it down, as the original contained a joke that he wouldn't back up as he matured as a comedian. Here is the newly edited version, complete with an explanation of what was edited out and why.
This drunk heckler (Coral? Ashley?) thinks Steve is just jealous because he can't have her. She also thinks that calling him "ginger" will score her some points at this comedy show. She speaks in emojis which is not surprising. Sad face.

Please own a heckler for 8 hours so we can sleep-meditate to it
Mhmmm, that's an idea I can get behind.
Then we can maybe prepare ourselves for a moment like this when someone heckles us

You have got to know that if you heckl a good comedian, you are probably going to get torched. Unless you're that guy, lol...
Steve, I think we've all had that moment when the mouth is just a bit ahead of the brain. Usually it's not in front of an audience nor is it posted on UA-cam. Lucky us. But here you've posted an old video with a bit removed that you felt was wrong - that doesn't reflect who you are. I'm fine with that, the more so in that you tell us at the end what you cut. I admire your honesty - seems like someone was raised right.
Honestly we've all said some shit we wish we could erase. I am super glad I didn't discover the internet until my early twenties. Had it been before that there would have been a much longer record of my own stupidity.
I regret that I have grown up with the internet. There is probably some shit out there that I wouldn't stand by but I do my best to be better In the future
the fact that he realized it wasn't something he stood behind and deleted it shows who he is. Thats a good man right there.

Respect for not only editing out that joke, but also explaining why it was a crap joke and owning the mistake.

@@ThrashBandicoot666 Are you actually serious? Why would someone be jealous of you, watching a comedian's videos, for a longer period of time? I mean, you could ask anyone you have ever known, who this dude is and no one would know. Weird flex, tbh.
Audrey Mai Why do you randomly use commas where they don't belong?
Audrey Mai besides you, every person in this comment section are the types of people that this would happen to. Chad must have been so uncomfortable during this whole interaction
Steve, I got mad respect for you in this scenario. I love trying new bits/lines on friend, but I'm afraid of ever going on stage and having something like this go down.
In short; you are my comedic batman. Keep on serving up justice!
His explanation of what he edited out and why made me a bigger fan.
Being able to own up to something you regret, and telling us all that you removed it and why instead of just silently editing it out, that takes guts, especially in this day and age. Nothing but respect for that. I've always enjoyed your stuff, and now, I enjoy it even more.
Steve, you have to be one of the funniest, quickest, and most intelligent comedians out there. I love your way of dealing with hecklers. I also admire you for standing by what you say and taking the time to clarify this situation and address it. I doubt most people would.
Regarding the term "ginger" - I somehow missed that South Park episode, but I learned the term long ago from my English Auntie, who doesn't use it as a slur, so for me it's never been a negative term. It's more of a description, like "blondie" or "towhead" for a blonde person. It's too bad (ignorant) people saw one episode of a cartoon show and suddenly, they think the term is funny and start throwing it around to be mean. Buttheads! (Rest assured I won't use it any longer, unless I'm talking to my Auntie! We use it to describe cats LOL)
And I for one really like redheads! My sweetie is a redhead (although at this stage his hair is gray). Yes, we were together back when his hair was red. He was handsome then, and he is now. I think redheads are fabulous!
Thanks for owning up for saying something shitty! It takes a big person to do that and I am really appreciative that you did.
Taking ownership of your mistakes is just one more reason to love comedians like you. Even when you tell a joke I disagree with, you manage to still make me laugh.
PROPER comedian.
Comedy is one of the few places we can go where the boundaries are pushed way beyond anything we'd usually say in everyday life, and to realise when you think you've gone too far is a testament to integrity. To recognise it, admit it publicly, and go a ways to correct the breach is the true strength of persons character.
Steve, you're awesome. I vow to see you live..
Whenever I see one of his shows that are in Kentucky I hold my breath, hoping it's not one of my relatives.
I dont comment on videos much, but Steve i gotta say, thank you so much for all the free entertainment, your the first and only comedian i actually watch on youtube, you rock dude and thanks again!
Normalising personal growth and admitting to past mistakes is awesome, thanks for being a decent human being (I mean that genuinely, because from what I've been seeing in your videos, some people just have no idea what that means anymore)

I've been loving your videos. Thanks for re-editing this clip to take out that bit, I appreciate that you recognize it was out of line, and very big of you to call yourself out instead of just quietly re-upping the video. Kudos!
I would like to say thank you. I was at a very low point in my life. I won't bore you with the story but I was so low a shovel couldn't have gotten me lower. I happened to pick up my phone, went to UA-cam and saw one of your videos. I then watched 6 more. You made me laugh so hard and you showed me that I wasn't the one who was low and that I was higher than those who had tried to hurt me. You are a true artist. A master of your craft. I am going to keep an eye out for the next time you have a show in Orlando Florida. Thank you for giving what this world needs, a chance to laugh.
the moment when you realize that UA-camrs are 1000x more honest than all the honesty in the media combined. I respect you man for your behavior, everyone in the history of mankind lost his/her words one day especially when he/she argued for 16 minutes with someone who should have shut the F up in the first 5 secends.
I applaud you for recognizing the power that your words carry and editing that out. We all say stuff in the moment so don't beat yourself up man!
You are a true gentleman. Thank you for the honesty and laughter.😻😻😻
Another reason why I’m such a big fan. You are a stand up guy, admit when you made a mistake and fix it. Rock on dude. You got a fan for life here. My son loves you also. Can’t wait to see a show live .

As a fellow redhead I salute you. You are an inspiration to us all. Well to everyone in my family anyways.
Steve, your one of the best!! An absolutely brilliant sharp wit when having to deal and tolerate these sad souls who believe that the earth revolves around them!....Cheers Mate!!
I'm a little mixed on editing it out, but I appreciate the reasoning and being humble about it. Love your work!!! Much love!
I feel like taking your boyfriend/girlfriend to a live comedy show is a good way to gauge their temperament (if that makes sense)
It shows a lot of integrity to own something you feel you did wrong, without any backlash influencing you to start with, and admit that you're not proud of a past comment and don't support what you said when tensions were high.
Thank you for owning what you say and standing by what you believe in while taking steps to abandon what you don't support. Personal growth can be a long and arduous journey, but it's these moments that show who has real integrity and class. Some people only retract statements once backlash against them has started and threatens their career, and some don't retract past statements at all, so I'm happy to see you embrace true integrity.
SO happy this has been reposted. This was the best heckler shutdown I have ever seen. Thank you, from one ginga to another!
I appreciate that you looked back and decided that there was something on your platform that you no longer stand by and removed it.
Idk, it’s just something that I appreciate that you care enough about who you want to be and who you want your character to stand for and made sure that your channel also held the values that you hold yourself to today. It’s something that I appreciate because it shows us that you care just as much as we do.
It’s not wrong when you admit what happened and show that you changed your thinking, that’s progression. That’s living with out an ego. We all make mistakes and get emotional it’s human. Even if we have good intentions. You also recognized you have an audience and that you don’t wanna support, condone or gain any fans doing bad things. Much love man. Can’t stop going through the clips🤟
Steve, I wish I could meet you because I’m astonished at how fast you are with comebacks!
I’m not doing that great financially so I can’t come to a show, but if it’s ever possible I’ll definitely be at one.
Thanks for the great entertainment and laughs.
This got the meanest I’ve really seen him but it’s so deserved. Definitely understand the cutting out a joke you wouldn’t tell a second time.
I thought murder was illegal in Kentucky. Guess not. 😆
Mad respect for not sharing a joke you no longer stand behind. Most people don't have that kind of class and self respect.
Dude. The fact that you apologize so much when a heckler does occasionally get to you just shows what a conscientious mensch you are. From my perspective you are grace under pressure personified. I played in crappy dive bar bands for many years and on those occasions when some dick in the audience yelled at us or threw something at us, it was much, much easier to ignore because there were four of us, half the time we were only paid in beer, and we could always turn our amps up. Very different from when it's just you on the stage and you can actually hear these weirdos. The worst, as far as I'm concerned, was when that naziboy went after you with that "Jews control TV" sh*t, which would have really pissed me off because I just hate Nazis so very, very much. And even in that case you apologized profusely and beat yourself up about not remaining completely unruffled. Deep respect, brother.
You taking the not meant comment out, just makes you rise more above the hecklers! It's a rare thing on YT to admit you have done something wrong
Equal rights, man. Sometimes a dude just needs a punch...and all things equal. They say they can do anything a man can do...so, take a punch like a man. I mean, they can’t act like hitting a woman is somehow immoral and taboo but a joke about hitting a man is funny while they demand if we treat them different is sexist. You can’t say you’d punch a man and not a woman because that is treating the woman “differently” and the feminists say different treatment because of their sex is sexist. So you’re a sexist if you would hit a man and not a woman. Go figure. This is what they want.
I have respect to you for not ever showing what the Hecklers looks like. You just put them in their place and hope they learned a lesson i just think it shows a lot of class because i feel most people would do otherwise and it just shows your not trying to bully them because viral videos can ruin peoples lives so hats off to you my brother
Big man! Takes a lot to admit you had a moment of weakness in the moment and said something you weren't proud of. We've all done it, huge fan BTW.
I only discovered your material today and I can't stop watching, absolutely love it, cheers for sharing! 👌
I respect and appreciate the honesty, and frigin love your style of comedy. Who hasn't said something in the moment that they regret later?
I'm subscribed to like 20 channels but you're one of only three who I hit like at the beginning of the video and then decide at the end if I'll unlike it... I've never unliked one of your vids. Keep us laughing, you rock!!!
I think this was a great example of how one can say something in a moment or just no longer agree with something they once said and grow from it. Love your work! I won't be able to catch you in Memphis any time soon, but I hope you visit Boston later this year :)
So much respect for editing it *and saying why.*
When / if any of us have daughters we want to show them things we love _like great comedy or music_ that doesn’t make them think their parents are cool with abuse.
Anthony Atamanuik who plays TRUMP said he doesn’t want to tell jokes *he can’t tell as Anthony* which he said is what some comedians do. *That’s what this video corrected… it was you identifying something that* _WASN’T “you”_ *and replacing it with an apology to let people know that regardless of how others would’ve handled it… STEVE believes in trying to be better.*
Odd that she doesn't understand "done", seeing as it starts with "Duh."
I admire that you were able to see something that you decided wasn't the best part of you. Some people can't do that, but I think your telling that part of your story will help others that may need to take a look at something and own it. It's hard to do sometimes, but I believe that there will always be people who support us when we do. Good on You Steve. I love your comedy and really love your knowledge of so many things.
You always have something that makes me glad I subscribed after the first clip I'd seen. Thanks for the laughs (and the honesty)
-- From one guy named Steve to a far funnier one.
The guy who yelled "Can't this place afford a bouncer?" is fucking awesome.
It takes a big person to admit their wrongdoings, rather than being a person who skates through life completely oblivious of their own actions. From what I was able to see, you handled the situation well, despite her persistent obnoxious behavior. Honestly, I would’ve done worse, so if there was one joke that was a bit over the edge... 🤷🏽♀️ Well, we all have choices, and she could’ve also chose to shut the fuck up that night... I’m glad you took the time edit, explain, and repost this video, because it’s an experience we all can relate to and learn from. Thank you Steve 💖
The fact that you've edited out the bit you no longer stand by, but still make it clear what happened and why you no longer stand by it is really how this should go. Admirable as fuck.
One of the things that makes you such a good comedian is your heart. Sharp humor with soul behind it can make people laugh without leaving them cynical. I look forward to seeing you again in Minneapolis in March!

Some say he's still being interrupted to this day....
I would definitely be a comedian if you could always count on a heckler. I am pretty good at roasting someone on the spot but I couldn’t write a joke to save my life. Your videos of owning people are 100% better than a set from anyone. Just something about someone getting a serving of verbal justice 😂
Thank you for the edit. While I may have laughed when you finally shut the lid on that dumpster fire, I think it was smart to take it out and acknowledge that some jokes just shouldn't be made.
I'm glad you explained what you took out. If you said it then you said it. You can regret it and express that, but I don't think you should hide it.
I adore you for not supporting things the defy your values, even though it costed you large exposure (that is so beneficial for your kind of a career). It shows a lot of what kind of human, man and comedian you are in the most beautiful way.

Bro, nuff kudos for explaining why you edited out a joke 👍🏻
I love your comedy . I love your jokes and I especially love the way you shut the hecklers down. I really respect the fact that you made a joke in the moment that later you found to be in poor taste. A joke that you would not ever tell again. So you removed it. Most comedians say " hey it's just a joke " . Yes they are just jokes and most people need to realize that but I applaud that even you as a comedian felt it crossed a line, said it crossed a line and took the bit out. I have the utmost respect for you. You are a very funny man with remarkable dignity. Hope to eventually have the privilege to experience you live. Until then keep making the world laugh. !!!!! Great job
