  • Made a new joyride for NLEX-SCTEX for the year 2017. There are many notable changes.
    North Luzon Expressway is currently undergoing carriageway expansion. From the stretch of Santa Rita up to Pampanga area, the carriageway is adjusted top 3x3. As you can see along Candaba viaduct, there are new layby's (emergency parking) done to offset the removal of shoulder lanes to make way for the expansion. The NLEX-SCTEX integration has removed the Dau Toll Plaza and the SCTEX Mabalacat Toll PLaza for seamless flow. As for the toll plaza along Subic-Tipo (SFEX) it has been removed also. Toll payment for SFEX is now integrated in the southern terminus of SCTEX which is the Tipo Toll Plaza. SCTEX is also undergoing asphalt rehabilitation.
    As MNTC takes over the management of SCTEX, the emergency number is now uniformed to 3-5000. The NLEX Santa Ines segment is also now a 2x2 carriageway. One more thing, a new exit for NB is being made along NLEX - Libtong Exit just before Meycauayan.
    There are CCTV cameras installed along SCTEx - Southbound (Subic Route)
    Another good news in NLEX is flexible mode of toll payment via mastercard wave pass, beep cards and cash besides easytrip.
    NLEX should remove those barriers along the new carriageway, it is a cause for accident, dangerous and not driver friendly.
    This was part 1 of my NLEX SCTEX SFEX TPLEX Complete Joyride series. Part 2 coming up in a while.
    Signs has been updated - there are road numbers (from dpwh)
    Special thanks to ldbpogi for signs
    5:44 Libtong Exit
    Attention:
    USE SIGNAL LIGHTS WHEN CHANGING LANE!

    I checked the video again, the LIDAR device may be in the white Crosswind on the shoulder parked right after a speed limit or no overtaking sign on the shoulder. I think it is at 51:09 of the video. Check it out. Sometimes, they park the vehicle on the opposite lane with the LIDAR aimed across the median guard rail.

      @dmitrivalencia  7 років тому +3

      Is it possible to detect the speed in a different direction sir? I mean the usual way of apprehending is checking the incoming vehicle not after it passed thru you right?

    • @tifofh
      @tifofh 7 років тому +3

      The Laser aims the radar at the oncoming vehicle. There are two aim points that will measure the speed accurately. The LIDAR is GPS checked constantly so it won't make a mistake. If the Crosswind or iVan or Innova or Hi Lux or D max is parked on your side shoulder, its aimed at you from the rear with the lasers passing through the no-tint circles of the rear windshield. If it is monitoring the speed on the opposite lane, the LIDAR is aimed from the front windshield. It won't work in heavy rain but it can work at night and it can also work by aiming while your car has passed. That feature can be used on motorcycles because motorcycles have rear plates only.

    Sir, if I can explain something, you should use "2x3" instead of "3x3"
    1) The "2" is the number of ways in a highway. Since there're only 2 ways, we write 2 there
    2) The "3" is the number of lanes in a way. I know you're explaining that the strech from Sta. Rita to Pampanga area is expanded to 3 lanes each way, so you write 3 there.

  • @tifofh
    @tifofh 7 років тому +2

    Dmitri, the reason why MNTC has not removed the cones and bollards on the new 3rd lane of Sta. Rita to San Fernando is because TRB or Toll Regulatory Board has not approved it for opening. Not for any problem on MNTC's part, but because TRB is only set to meet on March 10. MNTC sincerely wants to open it soonest. They are still making adjustments to the lane markings of some of the bridges in Pampanga as the lanes have to re-align since the shoulder, like the Viaduct, has been coopted to be another lane. It reminds me of a bridge in SLEx Sta Rosa, in the 3x3 segment because the bridge is not exactly aligned straight thru so the markings have to be adjusted to warn drivers way way before the bridge approach. At the NLEx the transitions are smoother, but take note that the new 3rd lane is not a simple straight line on these Pampanga bridges.

      Sir, the cones were really dangerous... saw many times cars almost got into accident including myself. six times tried to use beep card payment on nlex, only two successfull attempt. "unavailable pa po" "walang signal" "sira" these were the comments the tellers told me and yet they have signs already for beep and now wave pass (mastercard). I hope MNTC and Beep would rectify this problem.

      @tifofh 7 років тому

      They are aware. In fact I didn't know of Mastercard wave pass. At the same time, they are also trial-ing, EasyDrive RFID sticker. But I am surprised that they announced it with incomplete trials. From what I heard the trials will last until 3rd quarter of this year, BEFORE public launching. And those in and out, now you see them now you don't cones are dangerous. I encountered them at night and I had to change my rhythmic driving from being careful at the bridges.

    Some segments of the North Expressway should be refurbished. The light poles should be removed. The illumination should be coming from LED that would be generated by solar power. If the poles, advertisement structures are removed, segment of the highway can be used as emergency landing area for jet planes, military or civilian.

    Dmitri, did you spot the LIDAR device between Dinalupihan and Tipo? It looked to me like that white or silver Crosswind parked on the shoulder. It's usually tinted but the rear window has 2 circle holes in the tint to allow the Laser to guide the radar and give the device 2 reference points before the speed camera clicks and nails the violator exceeding 119km/h.

    • @dmitrivalencia
      @dmitrivalencia  7 років тому +2

      speed should be increased to 120kph sir. They should instead be strict of road worthy cars or the road worthiness of the vehicle rather than forcing the 100kph speed limit to everyone. If that is the case kawawa naman yun mga v6 and v8 cars at mabuti pa everyone should ride a 1.0 or 1.5 displacement car instead. :-( This is where i can really appreciate a cruised control car.

    • @tifofh
      @tifofh 7 років тому +2

      The problem is the law insists on 100km/h. 2 congresses ago, I supported a bill by Cong. Cojuangco and Jack Enrile increasing the speed limit to 130. I also signed a petition. Not a popular cause as I can see. Nothing happened. Both congressmen were not re elected in 2013.

      Hernando F. HERMOSO I have the same issue where I live at in Arizona, the state of Arizona loves the slow poke, fuel guzzling speed limit of 55 MPH which is equaled to about 88 KPH in construction zones, in California it is 60 MPH which is 98 KPH in construction zones. California is far more realistic than Arizona which has a oxen pulled wagon mentality. When I drive home to the San Diego area I drive at 80 MPH which is 128 KPH
      In Arizona, and in California I drive at 120 KPH=75 MPH. Super highways world wide are built & designed for fast driving.

    • @dmitrivalencia
      @dmitrivalencia  7 років тому +2

      i hope somebody continues this bill... this is not about driving safety only, it is about easing driver condition.

    • @EpicThe112
      @EpicThe112 7 років тому +1

      Christopher O'Rourke same with New Jersey and Pennsylvania it's 55 mph 88-90 km/h for work zones on Interstate Highways. normal rural speed limits are NJ 65 mph 105 km/h which is 5 km/h higher than NLEX at 100 km/h 62 mph and Pennsylvania at 70 mph 112 km/h. Philippine expressways should use the 120 km/h speed limit which is Arizona Maine New Mexico and Colorado rural speed limit or 140 km/h speed limit Texas United Arab Emirates Bulgaria and Poland maximum freeway speed limit
