The first dmitrivalencia video I’ve ever watched. And I’m watching it again. I miss traveling to the PH. I remember driving on TPLEX-SCTEX-NLEX when four years ago when my family drove from San Mateo, Isabela to General Trias, Cavite, then Batangas City during our vacation so we could visit family before heading to Romblon. Video giving me so much nostalgia.
Everytime I missed this road. I watch this video then everything is alright. :) This road is carrying my heart and childhood. This I would never forget.
You are a talented & skillful driver! You have done a good job of promoting the Philippines, through your videos. Keep up the Good Work! You made a lot of people Happy!
Dimitri I just watched ang NLEX-SCTEX-NLEX(Subic Tipo) great, Sa make me ting an ang my balikang buhay sa Ang Pilipinas for magandang. Great travel videos Dimitri.
Nice job again sir dmitri! Very clear video, halos kumpleto na details. Para na rin akong nagbiyahe. Pwede na gamitin video nyo instead of GPS(joke)! Thank you for the trip!
Mr dmitri, kailan mo naivideo ito? lgi ko pinapanood ito kasi dito ako dumaan noong nagbakasyon ako diyan s pinas ng last week ng April til May 30,na miss ko lang mag drive dito :)
Wow! Nice. Trip to my hometown got faster now. Additional Php173 sounds reasonable rather than passing through towns in pampanga which traffic was very upsetting. Approx how long it took you to got to sbma?
idol try mong mag Joyride Manila to Mindanao...... para makita mo naman ang San Juanico Bridge at kong ano ano pang mabibiling kakanin at magagandang tanawin
Maraming salamat dmitrivalencia for another thorough joyride through NLEx & SCTEx. I can't believe the Pasig Potrero Bridge/Porac Bridge is still under repair. At this rate the NAIA Expressway will be completed before this bridge is fully repaired. Once the bridge is done they should renamed it to Macapagal Mabagal Magkumpuni Bridge!
***** Its a long story Clever CAB. When SCTEx was partly finished in 2008, MNTC- operators of NLEx - the temporary operator at that time told BCDA that the bridge design has to be changed to protect the slope from rampaging water flows of the Potrero river. This was included in the contract they proposed to operate and maintain SCTEx. The GMA government stalled on its approval. Then Pnoy took over then cancelled the contract proposed. BCDA rebid it and MNTC won again in 2010. But the Palace kept stalling, hiking up the revenues they wanted - cash register mentality again. Meantime, storm Maring came and what MNTC feared came true - rampaging waters took out the bridge approach. Serious damage and BCDA had to fork out millions for a new contract, copying the MNTC design. Then they tried rebidding in 2014, and the bid was won again by MNTC because San Miguel did not participate - allegedly because all the - cash register mentality delays made it not so profitable for SMC. Then Christmas 2014 Sen Drilon and Sec Abaya got stuck in toll plaza queues at SCTEx. When the 2 LP stalwarts discovered that the duplication of toll plazas was to be eliminated IF MNTC contract was approved by GMA in 2009 or if not implemented by Pnoy BCDA in 2010, that disaster need not happen. Hence today the integration of SCTEx to NLEx is only happening now. If Pnoy did not delay the implementation of the MNTC contract in 2010 - the bridge would have been modified at MNTC's expense and when Maring came in 2012, we would not have that serious damage. The other half of the highway bridge is still under construction.
***** As to NAIA Expwy - it is only 40% complete and one year behind sched because acquisition of Right of way on private property from Quirino to Roxas boulevard is not proceeding smoothly, as per DPWH. This is a usual problem with expropririation. But on other sections - right of way problems also persist on NAIA and LRTA property. So I doubt if the APEC delegates will get to use even a portion of it come Nov 18-19 of this year for the APEC conference.
***** Sorry for the incomplete reply. MNTC is Manila North Tollways Corp. It is owned by Metro Pacific Tollways. BCDA is Bases Conversion Development Authority. They own SCTEx, Fort Bonifacio, Camp John Hay and Poro Point. Its government so it answers to the palace. Its head is always an appointee of the current administration.
***** A few more clarifications, Clever CAB. Storm Maring, the one that took out those bridges at Potrero was 2013, not 2012, if I am not mistaken. As for the NLEx-SCTEx integration as proposed by MNTC in 2008 - it would have not only changed the design of that ill fated bridge, it would have eliminated the Dau NLEx toll plaza, SCTEx Mabalacat toll plaza and the Subic toll plaza, reducing the number of times you have to queue to pay toll/get ticket. But as you can see the greedy government kept asking for more from MNTC and even cheated on the signed contracts by not acting on them hoping for a bigger fee. Anyway, Christmas 2014 saw monstrous traffic jams that got Drilon mad and made the Senate act to force BCDA to finally stop the silly game of bilking MNTC. The damage was being done to long traffic queues at toll gates every long weekend.
***** Noted! :-) very catchy name!!! hahahaha! Macapagal Mabagal Magkumpuni Bridge! No offense to the Kapampangan language. Mr Tito Hermoso has given you a more in depth detail regarding the problem with the bridge and the events that transpired. By the way Mr Hermoso is the motoring columnist for the Inside Man column in Autoindustriya, please check out his replies :-)
