What can I say mate, we had to wait right through to the end of your video and then the speed display was barely visible. ? 18 mph is ok but I saw the rear tyres are worn down a lot. If you try different tyre with a flatter tread but for off road buggies I think you can get a better result. I have a Super Hot Shot re release and with a Tamiya super stock RZ and 13 tooth pinion and 2 S lipo that gets to 44 kmh/ h . I brought some Schumacher tyres with foams and the backs are flat and wide but off road for buggies while the front are a little narrower with a short pin spike tread. The Super Hot Shot wheel stands too. It's advisable to use a 13 tooth pinion with the Super stock Tamiya motors because of the rev range and power band of that motor. So even lower gearing but with that motor gives a higher speed. if I was to run a 15 tooth pinion the motor would over heat and as the power band is 27500 rpm that's really Hight gearing for that motor. Try a 13 tooth pinion and flatter tyres. Good work though mate 👌👍
@@tamiyarcbuggyscarsandtruck7621 yes your right I forgot as I own a Grasshopper which shares the same gearbox as the the Hornet. So does the Midnight Pumpkin and several other Tamiya RC cars. But my pumpkin uses a 10 tooth pinion. As does the lunchbox and monster beetle. But I was able to find on UA-cam a Hornet which reached 37 mph.i reckon final drive gearing could be changed by changing the large spur gear the pinion drives against. But as for mathematically working out gear ratios or finding parts to fit I have no experience. But I still reckon it's possible.👍
Thanks for testing it. The result is great.
Welcome
Nice speed run with the Hornet.
Thank you
More speed tests coming soon
Amazing top speed❤ the car and the gears support 19 mph for long periods? Greetings my friend 😊

The pinion gear is a 18 tooth and can't be changed on the Hornet

@JimBoBJames-no5db yes there is adjustable motor mount available
I fitted a mad bull Gearbox in my Midnight pumpkin
Video is on the Channel
You have to be careful. With faster motors. With older cars. You could blow the tranny. My friend did it in a lunch box
The gearbox can handle the motor
