Can i grind a rusted exhaust bolt head with these? I have 600W - 2500 RPM corded drill. I guess it'll take a long time. The bit i have is 6mm shank purple like this one 4:14 . I cannot afford to buy die grinder just for this one job. I know corded drills are not made to take high side forces , but i think this method could save me big buck not buying a corded die grinder which are expensive. Thanks.
Yes it will be slow but you can do it with a higher speed 3/8"-10mm drill. If it has ball bearings for the spindle then it will not be that hard on it. Just make sure not to cover the vents so the drill stays cool for a long duration operation like bolt grinding.
At a slow RPM. I use die grinder with a grey/ blue stone for emergency drill bit sharpening! A steel type burr I used for Aluminum porting my manifold and intake runners. Throttle body. On Aluminum I used a spray lube! Beautiful! More power!
@@Daniel-vq9zb well yea lol. If you did this to sandpaper for example it would be gummed up and not sand for shit. But I've never used polishing stones. This just sounds like sending the newbie looking for blinker fluid
Die Grinders take quarter-inch shank bits and they're just a lot more powerful otherwise they're just the same the Dremel is just a small lower power 1/8" Shank mini die grinder
I don't like the "stone" wheels at all. They WILL hurt you. Buy the best carbide rotary files you can afford and then use sanding rolls to smooth it out as available from Jeg's or Summit. That is how the professional aircraft cylinder guys do it here. Throw those stones away, you may need any eye that they will hurt later in life, like tomorrow.
That is good advice however Stone wheels are not catastrophically dangerous they would not be on the market if they were really that bad you just have to be aware of what you're doing and not over speed and overload them, replace them when they get one rather than run them until there's nothing left and the reason I do like them is carbide burs are astoundingly expensive often times costing 20, 30, 40 even $50 each and if you're trying to grind hard metals they wear out very fast
Yes. I agree, I'm suffering here to grind a 6 cylinder exhaust welds to remove the muffler and it is taking forever with the metal bits. It is really hard weld and steel. I'll try the stones bits tomorrow.

Useful info, thanks. I have destroyed many a grinding wheel from not knowing what I was doing.
You can put wax on the grinding wheels and that will help them from loading up in nonferrous metals.

perhaps the black ones are silicon carbide and have more durable on hard stuff like glass. other than that, the same. just a guess.
