Bhavayami Gopalam is a beautiful composition of Sri Annamacharya in the raaga Yamuna Kalyani.
My son about the sme age as Bombay Shree was taking carnatric lessons from the same teacher Uttam Co-op Society Chembur Bombay. We saw her in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Beautiful concert. My son Sanjay and Shree went to the same school St. Anthony

Mr Neelakaantham, Jaishree amma's sanskrit pronunciation is flawless in this krithi. In fact better than M.S. S. who used to stress the fourth dha, bha. kha more deeply than necessary whereas with the knowledge of sanskrit and Hindi, Jaishree Amma's pronunciation combined with her mellifluous voice is carrying us to heaven. In fact Jaishree Amma's rendering of Muthuswamy Diskshathar's krithis, which are of most difficult diction in sanskrit, is simply outstanding. I have studied sanskrit so I can say this with certainty.

It is very difficult to accept any other singer to try this song after MS subbulakshmi. She is un reachable by any singer in yonder distance.
I don't care about the pronunciation. Only bhaava is important to me. The purpose for this composition by the author is not academic interest, but bhakti!! MS' bhaava for this one is unparalleled as of today.
Whoever the singer be can,never be compared with MSS who dedicated herself to gurubakthi and divinity alone apt to listen to bhaavayaami keerthanai

As mellifluous as the rendition is, for those who can understand a little bit of Sanskrit, it will be a rasa-bhanga at "kaTi-ghaTita-mekhalaa" and "sankula shinjitena tam" and "niruta kara-kalita". Pronunciations have gone fully wrong. Nonetheless, each letter is a name of Krishna. That way, you are still right. The music is priceless!

There is a mistake in the lyric "Kati Ghatitha Mekhla Khachitha Mani Ghantika" means I am meditating Bala Gopala's whose hip is decorated with Mekhla, Mani(Gems), and Bells.
i was surprised to hear these words sung wrongly in this video...something like ghati tatitha...? words and their correct pronunciation are most important in the rendering of these timeless poetry.
So soothing esp to hear in the early hours!!May Lord Gopalan shower his blessings !!

I renjoyed with tears in my eyes and could not control for some time. Praise goes to the singer and pranams.
Usually, Bombay Jayasree used to change all the Carnatic songs into Hindustani style ib her own 'style' highly contradictory to Carnatic Music Tradition.(e.g.her rendition of Samaja Vara Gamana in Hindolam). She seems to be struggled a lot to sing this Bhavayami Gopalam song to present it in original tune. God saved the song. 🙏

I am a Sanskrit scholar and great fan of Smt. Jayashri ji. But, disappointed with Sanskrit pronunciation. It’s suppose to be “Kati Ghatita Mekhala” Kati= vast, Ghatitha= adorned, Mekhala= A jewel with small bels around vaste

Reading Sanskrit text in Devangari is best - I used online convertors to create text in other languages. But Devangari should be taken as authentic. Its surprising that person so such caliber and fame pays such little attention to pronunciation and happily spreads ignorance to the next generation.

u may be right i dont know. but here the music, bavam, the divinity of singing is more important than anythingelse and which is unmatchable. here and there bits and pieces mistakes in prounciation may be there which nobody has noticed except u. it is not fair to make such a comment on this great artist. again i say music and divinity and bakthi is more important than anythingelse. enjoy the music and dont find fault always. u may be a scholar which is not important here. Bombay jayashree is unmatchable in divine music which we cannot do in this jenma atleast. I am sorry if i have used any harsh words.

With such a beautiful voice , I wish she had paid some attention the Saahitya and pronunciation. That’s why MS was always respected. Although she sang in languages she didn’t follow or understand , she always made it a point to get the pronunciation right. In any case, a good rendition.

The only problem is she mispronounced 4 out of 5 words in first sentence. She has absolutely zero appreciation for text or its meaning. She is nothing more than a well rehearsed robot

With due respects to Jayashree Ji's immense musical talent, I must say her Sanskrit pronunciation is very faulty. Subullakshmi Ji's Sanskrit pronunciation was absolutely flawless - in my opinion, she has set the gold standard in this regard.
Please listen to MS Amma's rendition. Her pronunciation was perfect. Jayashriji has flawed in 3-4 places
