Great video and totally fair criticism about the enemy and biome variety. One thing on villager happiness: you’re right that it impacts merchant prices for both buying and selling, but it also impacts enchantment favorability with the mage. The closer the mage is to 100 happiness, the more likely you are to get the top enchantment quality per roll. Lower happiness gives high debuff chance. From what I can tell, the only two NPCs that are worth going out of your way to get to 100 are the mage and pawnbroker since they are your main source of gold and will offer higher prices on goods sold at 100.
@@flowsephstalin2894 that’s good to know! I would definitely incentive people to keep the mage and pawnbrokers happiness up, especially the mage with the enchantments. I think if they add more of that to each of the different npcs it would help. @@samtheashen same thing happened with Kingdom Come Deliverance, a lot of people didnt like the combat and quest system because they found it too hard. Like the game was designed like that
I also made suggestions to the devs a long time ago to consider procedurally generating continents (instead of islands, it's a series of landmass maps, that are interlinked) and revamping how the travel mechanics work, so you can travel on foot easily, but shallow waters on boats, and needing big ships to travel ocean tiles (basically a mass of ocean tiles on the world map that is hazardous and a barrier to travel). This way you don't walk over deep water and just 'swim' to a destination, and more complexities can happen such as kingdoms can 'own' a continent and you can invade or visit them and get diplomatic relationships.

This game is created by 9 people as a hobby. You didn't mention the most important thing, which is that the game is in early access. The developers are constantly adding new content and currently version 0.26 is available. There's still a long way to go before the game is finished, probably maybe 5 years from now.
I mentioned that the game was in Early Access in the first 30 seconds. It’s impressive that it was made as a hobby by 9 people, but it’s still been 5 years since its first EA release so I don’t think it being unfinished shields it from any criticism. In the end, I still really like the game and recommended it because it still stands out from a lot of games.
Crazy to me talking about enemy variety when theres like over 50 mob types in the game, I think there's more than that now, and more regularly being added.
Hopefully they provide more content in the future. Like more interactions with the settlement or new raid mechanics to keep us engaged. They already got a good set up for like settlement defense type of thing. I think it would be awesome if they implement events where items/food gets scarce which forces the player to go to different islands for a supply run. Settler events when they get unhappy, like a settler suddenly betraying you and starts killing everyone or settlers opting to move out and settle somewhere else. Since they have pirates on the game, they can also implement like a kidnap mechanic so you have a reason to go hunt for pirate islands. It would also be great if they had like a blood moon like event for zombies, like they would mutate and shit then drop better loot.
I think you have some awesome ideas there. The settler events for unhappiness would be huge I think, that’s why I brought up Dwarf Fortress. It would go such a long way. It does have a great foundation to build from, I hope to see it do well in the future!
Most of the updates of the past year or so have been incursions, but i didnt see them mentioned in this video. But fair criticism regardless. Well I mentioned in the first 30 seconds that it was an Early access game, but you’re right it’s not totally fair to compare an unfinished game to a finished one, I agree. I wasn’t trying to bash the game, I found it interesting and good enough to want to make a video on it. For the early access though, the game was released into EA 5 years ago so it’s not like it’s a brand new game just ironing out the kinks, it’s been presumably long enough to have the base game “done” and in the end I thought that it could’ve done more with what it had. Edit: the only reason for the comparisons to finished games was for people who haven’t played it yet, I thought they would be the best references.

I have 612 hours in terraria and really love the game. The biggest problem it has though is that the combat is a total mess in a side scroller system however the base building feels far better in terraria than top down style games. Terraria is defiantly not a masterpiece its a great game that's fun that shitloads of people like but it dose have its problems between boss mechanics and how gear can 100% carry you at end game to the point where you can stand still and just hold click on the boss.
