Finally found someone that does it the right way like I do it. Trim, blow, mow and blow again. It literally takes half the time and effort to do it that way and leaves a professional looking job. You rock!
After you trim/edge, there are plenty of leaves/large clumps of weeds etc. left on the concrete (sidewalks/street). If you blow that back into the yard before you mow/mulch you will chop that up back into the yard. And the only thing you will have to clean up after the final mow will be fine grass clippings.
I want to personally thank u Dan u got me to start my own business doing lawn care and we’re I live is Michigan so snow blowing too and fall clean up thank u for the confidence to do this
Saw another side of you (silly today) it was great when you asked her if you want to weed eat I started laughing. It was great that you accommodated her the same time so you did not have to make a return trip. I really also enjoyed when you were on the sidewalk edging and you acted like you were dissy.
I appreciate when I see guys bag a yard. It seems like no one does it any more. Lawn guys rather go over a yard two or three times , myself personally , I really like bagging my yard. It leaves a cleaner look. Great work as always Dan 👍💪👌
I am so jealous of the balance you have when weed eating. I didn't see you make one slice or gauge. Not only that you are able to do it at a high pace.
You do a very professional job, Dan!! Everything looks so beautiful when you are done. You take such pride in your work and it definitely shows! Thanks for all your videos.....I enjoy each and every one! PLEASE keep them coming! God Bless you and your family!
i am in south central Texas, we started mowing in late January! some days it's mid 40's then the next day it's almost 80. don't know if i need to put on pants or just wear shorts!
Dan thank you for the lesson . I work for home depot in pa . A customer came in looking for a lawn mower . I sold them a Honda like yours . I asked them if it was their first mow for the season . I told him to bag it not to mulch cause you need to collect all the nasty weeds . I sold them other products you use as well . I got an a ward thanks again
Just bought my first lawnmower as a homeowner the Honda HRX 217 and cant wait to start mowing. Unfortunately Chicago spring might hit till mid April. Awesome Video Dan.
Sam Vazquez I want that , soon I hope. SoCal is ridiculously expensive , my landlord asked me not to do the lawn because this his excuse to get out of the house . No sweat of my ..
Hey Dan, I watch all these lawn videos and you are the best .You edge the best, your weed whacking is the bomb and you mow very neatly like your mowing your own lawn, that"s good these other guys I write on all there pages they should watch you and learn something. Your the MAN,DAN......
Wow, you are so lucky to start the season now. I live in PA and we just had 8" of snow! Thanks for making these videos. It has inspired me to start a lawn service/ side hustle with my 13 year old son. It amazes me how good you are with that weed eater. Thanks again bro!
I love it! Can't wait to get back on the yards! We're near TN, so it's going to be a few more weeks for us. Hope you're doing good. Looking forward to the lawn videos this season.
Basic setup. That's how I roll! I'll be mowing at the end of next week, or as soon as the freezing rain stops! I'm ready! I've actually done my first 2019 mow last week.
Seattle is sunny and 45 today. It's been really nice the last few days. Of course, we had 10" - 14" of snow a couple of weeks ago. There are lots of hills here (very similar to San Francisco) so the snow pretty much shut everything down for three days. It's great to see your enthusiasm towards doing a task you've done thousands of times before. The before and after of your yards today are awesome. It will be great to watch how things progress after you do the weed and feed. Great job Dan! Glad to see you so happy!
Great video as always. Those lawns turned out fantastic.that extra motion you went through on the edges with the string trimmer is what will make the edges easier to maintain for the rest of the season.i agree with running the blower twice.the end results show how it’s well worth doing it that way. I’m looking forward to the next video
Hey Dan I always enjoy your videos but these you do in real time with explanations are my absolute favorite. Thank you for taking the time. Lots of love coming from Texas. God Bless
The back of the truck set up is basically what I run at the moment the last 2 seasons and I have a helper some days when I have a lot of clients. Definitely moving up to a zero turn in the upcoming season. I know the struggle. Hustle and grind and everybody can get where they want to get with there buisiness
Great Video.. Thank you for pointing that out that we all have to start somewhere and not everyone is the same. Once you save up extra cash reinvest it in buying better and bigger professional grade equipment that is designed to last many more years with heavy usage compared to the homeowner grade. With your top dollar equipment make your vary own yard that much better... When I talk about lawn equipment to my friends and family I say if your going to waste your extra money use it to buy better equipment not buying big rims on your car and a big flat screen TV in every room.
HI Dan. I live in Deep South Texas and we have a subtropical climate which means I never stopped mowing! I get to enjoy my mow year round. Our temperature was 90 today but because of the winter storm hitting the country today, our temps are going to drop by 50 degrees in the wee hours tonight. I feel bad for everyone who is still experiencing cold winter weather. Great video. Glad to see you mowing again.
my girlfriend gives me crap for watching your videos but I've actually learned a few tips and trick from you for when I do my own yard. Plus, I like to see the transformation of the yard after you get done with it lol.
missed these videos im from new zealand we are just starting into autumn now i must of watched 90% of the videos on your channel now keep up the good work
Worth the wait Dan and you've continued from where you left off last year with another first class informative video. At one stage I thought the heavens were going to open but luckily it passed without any disruption. I love the neighbourhood you live in you're very lucky to have such big front gardens as it's very rare here in the UK
Hey Dan, I started my lawn business last September. Through clean ups and snow removal I'm already up to 32 customers. Thanks for the informative videos! Can't wait to start cutting again!!!
I just got a honda hr214 this self propelled mower was made back during the early 1980s . This mower has a aluminum deck not like some of the honda mowers todays that has a plastic deck. I had one with a plastic deck . You hit a bb size rock and put a hole in the deck
I've adopted your technique of blowing in before mowing down here In Central FL. 5-6 inch high St. Augustine edges make a ton of clippings even just between one week. Looks worse blowing it all at the end imo.
The guys that did my lawn, landlord hired them, never came on the same day, always took the down spouts off and never put them back, cleaned out all the wood shavings from my flower beds and bitched about picking up on or 2 dog piles 😏. I tried my best to keep the dog piles cleaned but if I don't know when your coming crap happens 😂. The 2 ND time the landlord called to say pick up the dog crap before they come I said what day ? He said he didn't know. Ten I told him about the wood shavings, the down spouts and they also butchard a bush that should never be trimmed, that pissed him off because he planted it. So he fired them and gave me a months free rent for keeping the yard up 😉
Everything you describe in the opening minutes are correct, great advice. Easy to earn $200 a day. Don't really need a trailer. I fabricated a steel mesh cage for my pickup bed. I do alot of palm tree trimming and need to haul it. I just subscribed, looking forward to more videos 👍
Hi Dan! I watched both videos. I like your basic set up. I live in Amarillo Texas and we got snow today and some expected tomorrow, but can't wait to now again.
I have to get my kicks watching your Honda HRX217VKA until I can use my four day old HRX217VKA GCV200. Believe it or not, forecast for Milwaukee low temperatures for tomorrow is -7 degrees below 0 with a high of 15/16 degrees. I can't wait to use my new Honda lawnmower which is in my garage. I just rolled it outside my garage this morning for a closer look. I couldn't help but notice back wheels dragged a bit. The dealership set up assembly. I don't know if they adjusted drive wheels or not, but I watched your maintenance video again and I may have to adjust drive like you showed in your video. Thanks again for the information. Hopefully I will be able to finally use my new Honda in mid-April??? This winter in Milwaukee has had record snow and negative low temperatures.
Dragged when pushing forward? That is not right. Take it back and get the $30 worth you paid my friend. This will also show a pattern just in case the transmission is messed up, they can see you brought back once already and just replace it
@@DansVlog, I noticed the drag pulling back. Maybe a little resistance going forward which is more than my 2011 HRR216VKA. The very next "warmer" day, I will try to adjust like you did. To be honest, I never adjusted my HRR216VKA because I never had too and I never had a problem. Thanks for the tip. I know I rushed a bit with purchase before I can actually use the mower because of the cold weather Wisconsin, but I was eager to buy this model as soon as dealership got on floor. I was also at Home Depot yesterday and they have their mowers on display which includes Honda. Home Depot had the HRX217VKA for the same price I paid at dealership for $599.00. Usually it's not this cold when March arrives. At the moment at 7:30pm, it's a big 8 degrees. By morning they say -7 below 0. I see GA will even get hit with cold tomorrow? The cold weather is supposed to last a week. Even if temperatures get to 35 - 40 degrees, I will adjust drive cable back a bit. Legally, I think I have a 30 day return, but then again a 5 year warranty if defective. As soon as this dang REAL COLD weather stops, I will gas up the new Honda HRX217VKA and go up and down my driveway to test out and adjust. Thanks again Dan. Don from cold Milwaukee
What's a quite a few mower videos.. as I've just started up a business mowing lawns.. I think your ones are the best u tell it how it is and not blah blah too much..
Still winter up here in Maine. Supposed to hit he 40's next week, but overnight lows are still below freezing...Had a mess of a winter storm over the weekend, it was snowing mashed potatoes - all you needed was a little gravy boat on the side. LOL :) We had a warm spell in January though..Real brief but the weeds popped up real quick around foundations and the like, only to get buried by more snow. Overall I expect the mowing season to start in early May. Usually everything is still dormant around Easter, but then it really starts taking off once the first green pops up.
I've been watching for a long time, and just now been using an actual account ...anyway, i don't have a license, so i gave my ol' lady the truck and after she gets off, we burn through yards with a Tb Honda Pushmower, trimmer, attachments, wheelbarrow, stihl blower, tarps.....in an Avalanche. We do well with it....
hey dan been waiting to watch you r video s again hope you and you son s had agood winter will be wating to see more of you r power washing video s this year still cold cold here in new York westerchester cyny 40 miles ground O
Been watching your video's there great. I retired January 2020 I am 68 and basically have the same setup. My only problem is lifting the mower in and out of the truck bed 6 or 8 times a day.
I liked your old blower. It seemed to have more power it might be me. Just my opinion. None the less great job as always 👍. Luv the videos , and the great content. Keep em coming Dan
I dont have a big mowing business or nothing but, watched a few of your vids before. I will probably start mowing my own yard though not that you asked really but, end of this month probably first of next month whenever it dries up and warms up enough to start growing again here in Kentucky
Looking good Dan. Man spring came quick. Probably because I have been busy collecting equipment and learning as much as I could. Didn’t really want to get into weed control and fertilization but I’ve had three out of 7 calls asking for some sort of weed and fertilizer service.i know I can’t and don’t have the knowledge for liquid fertilizer but I can offer the granular approach.i have watched your fertilizer videos and some of Allen Haynes ; which has helped a lot. If you think of any ideas or comments please let me know.
Hey Dan, I think you're down there in Georgia and your weather might be good enough to start mowing but I'm up here in Michigan and we gotta wait just a little bit longer. Heck, we got a touch of snow yesterday.
Love your videos,,, I don't have a cutting business but I love mowing grass lol weird I know! I got a new mower and trimmer for Christmas so I'm begging to start cutting unfortunately right now it's 24 degrees and 3 inches of snow outside :/ few more weeks for me.
I do remember you saying that in a november video about that yard needing one more cut Dan . lol . Im not totally sold yet on that BG50 blower compared to the bg86. This new one seems louder than the bg86 you had and doesnt seem to have any where near the blow as the old one . I do want to start doing some lawns on the side and most of the yards in my area are small so I might go with it anyways . Keep up the great work Dan !!
Thank you buddy. The 50 is doing good. Not ready to give my final opinion but so far it made me over $200 and you see the mess I am dealing with, so...
@@DansVlog Yeah I hear ya . If you think its worth it for side hustle and is good enough to replace the bg86 Ill go ahead and buy it . Ill wait for your final review and some more footage of you using it . What was the one legged weedeating for at the 21:50 mark ? Showing off again ? lol
I love how your so excited about mowing again even if it is raining. You were like kid in a candy store!!
I was so happy... I just feel so complete with a weedeater in my hands
Finally found someone that does it the right way like I do it. Trim, blow, mow and blow again. It literally takes half the time and effort to do it that way and leaves a professional looking job. You rock!
Your right that's how I do it down in Texas
Safes you ton of time
why blow twice? waste of time
After you trim/edge, there are plenty of leaves/large clumps of weeds etc. left on the concrete (sidewalks/street). If you blow that back into the yard before you mow/mulch you will chop that up back into the yard. And the only thing you will have to clean up after the final mow will be fine grass clippings.
I like what you do, I'm considering this in the future. Your ideas are solid and your advice is on point. Thank you.
You’re welcome! Thank YOU!
I want to personally thank u Dan u got me to start my own business doing lawn care and we’re I live is Michigan so snow blowing too and fall clean up thank u for the confidence to do this

My favorite day to mow is the first day back. It's just so satisfying see a yard that got destroyed during the winter look good again.
I appreciate when I see guys bag a yard. It seems like no one does it any more. Lawn guys rather go over a yard two or three times , myself personally , I really like bagging my yard. It leaves a cleaner look. Great work as always Dan 👍💪👌
I only bag with weedy yards but when it’s just grass it’s best to discharge . It’ll help make the grass fill in
I am so jealous of the balance you have when weed eating. I didn't see you make one slice or gauge. Not only that you are able to do it at a high pace.
Thank you. I do it one handed just as well! Lol Search UA-cam “Dan’s Vlog Broke Arm”
You do a very professional job, Dan!! Everything looks so beautiful when you are done. You take such pride in your work and it definitely shows! Thanks for all your videos.....I enjoy each and every one! PLEASE keep them coming! God Bless you and your family!
It's in the mid 20s here right now! I'm so jealous of you guys getting a start on the season! We can't wait to join you! #peace

So happy to see you back. Looking forward to the new customer since their yard is a mess. Also that new blower works a treat.
Thank you Beka!
I love watching lawn mowing! It's very therapeutic. Keep up the great work!
Thank you Debra
I know. You look so happy doing your job. That’s a beautiful thing.
Watching this made me so hype for this upcoming lawn season. Got me 3 new yards. Just went out and picked me up a new backpack blower.
Awesome! New lawns for a new season? Perfect...

14:42 the sound of when your blower warms up. Lol I notice a big difference is power right when my echo does the same thing.
Ya my BG 86 did the same thing

Much needed video Dan. Hope to get my spring clean up in soon.

Those lawns turned out fantastic.that extra motion you went through on the edges with the string trimmer is what will make the edges easier to maintain for the rest of the season.i agree with running the blower twice.the end results show how it’s well worth doing it that way.
I’m looking forward to the next video
Thank you George. I am starting the edits of Part 2
Time to go borrow a big mower with all the new yards you are picking up.wont be long your side hustle will be making $1000.00 a week. I'm.just saying
@Dan’s Vlog, how did I miss this one?!
Are you still mowing this yard in 2020?
I remember how good this looked by the end of the 2019 mowing season!
Yes, it’s 2 together and I do the one across the street (new this year)
Thanks . Wish you lived closer . My development needs some one like you .
Thank you
I did 5 so far this year ready to start mowing
Awesome!
Hey Dan

Good luck with your business! Have you considered a 36 inch walkbehind mower?
Not yet
They fit nicely in even smaller sized trucks, cost around $3,000 belt driven and fit in just about every gate!
Definitely gonna have to check out what my dealers nearby have. That sounds a lot better than my 21inch push mowrt
Great Video.. Thank you for pointing that out that we all have to start somewhere and not everyone is the same. Hi Vickie! Welcome back!! I am jelous of your 90 degree temps but soon we too will be 95 with indicies around 115
It’s snowing as I type in DC still, but i hope to start doing my first ever yards this spring, ready to get my side hustle on
Well good luck daddy'o, report back and let us know how you do
Great Vlog Dan Yay lawn care season is back!
Yayyyyy!!
Basic setup, soloing side hustle. Great sharing with us 4 startup in real time. Noticed garbage can 4 dumping from grass catch. Thanks
Thanks Frederick
my girlfriend gives me crap for watching your videos but I've actually learned a few tips and trick from you for when I do my own yard. Plus, I like to see the transformation of the yard after you get done with it lol.
I appreciate you sneaking me behind your GF’s back lol
Wow! I had no idea that I could speed up the video just by going in the settings. Always learning something knew w/ you Dan 😉
Yup and you can adjust quality as well in case your 4g is sucking.

I guess I am just so used to it I don’t really worry about it except when they have a wheel on my edge😡 Now that fumes me
I can't stand when they do that shit.
I just mow over the cars

I've been watching for a long time, and just now been using an actual account ...anyway, i don't have a license, so i gave my ol' lady the truck and after she gets off, we burn through yards with a Tb Honda Pushmower, trimmer, attachments, wheelbarrow, stihl blower, tarps.....in an Avalanche. We do well with it....
Old school honsa, pysh nowers, have a steel drive shaft

Looks like they could use your power washing services.
Also, I'm so glad you're back to mowing. It feels like all is well in the world.
Lol Thank you Kate. I love the warmer months and being outdoors!
alright Dan is back how you been
I am doing great!
Been watching your video's there great.
I retired January 2020 I am 68 and basically have the same setup.
My only problem is lifting the mower in and out of the truck bed 6 or 8 times a day.
You're 68 and you mow 6-8 lawns a day?! You are a machine!!
@@DansVlog no no no 3 to 4 lawns a day
Put mower in take mower out.
I love your videos! Very informative and encouraging. Thank you so much👍🏻
Looks good. That edger really does the trick.
I see a siding wash that needs to be done next door, and the walks and driveway need surface cleaned to.
Thank you. I like using the blade on rough edges.
I am still watching,it rained a lot here today and I think it will rain tomorrow and supposed to get cold the next several day.
So many people died in this damn storm
Great video super cool work keep it going
Thank you!
Ex mark commercial mower is what you need dan
"I just like to explain why I do what I do... And then if you're a hater, THEN I can talk shit about you" LOL
EXACTLY! Lol😊
Sweet!
Is this a side gig? I like the work ethic.
Yes, I do and teach SideHustle. I drive trucks for a living
I think your the first one to kick off the season!!!
Hmmmmm, ya I usually wait til mid March but we had a very mild winter and the yards need the attention now
Always forget about the speed option I was just about to click away because I'm running low on time but now I'll stay for a bit
Don’t rush perfection! Come back when you have more time LOL
Damn Global Warming
Great job as usual. Going to be a while here in Indiana we just got a fresh 2 inches of snow today.
Oh-no!!
This guy is awesome
Thank you
I'm thinking about starting my own lawn care business and snow removal sevice
Yes!! Do it my friend!!
Looks great
Thank you
Love your videos,,, I don't have a cutting business but I love mowing grass lol weird I know! I got a new mower and trimmer for Christmas so I'm begging to start cutting unfortunately right now it's 24 degrees and 3 inches of snow outside :/ few more weeks for me.
Awesome Christmas presents!!!
75 in Phx today , we are still cutting grass here. ( winter rye )
Sweet!
Love your videos keep up the good work
Thank you
I do remember you saying that in a november video about that yard needing one more cut Dan .
Showing off again ? lol
Nah, probably trying not to fall at my age!
