This is a review of the Lowepro Protactic BP 450 AW II camera backpack. I absolutely love this camera bag. Not only can it easily fit all of my camera gear (camera bodies, lenses, polarizer, tripod) and my laptop and hard drive for post processing my wildlife and landscape photos, but it is comfortable even when full of all that camera gear and is highly customizable. Whether you are a landscape photographer, a wildlife photographer, a street photographer, or anything else, this backpack will be a protective, easy way to store your camera gear and carry it all with you wherever you go.

I've had mine for about a year and it's sensational. Fits my MacBook Pro 16" as well - snug but can fit in there..

Would you recommend this bag to someone who frequently travels by air? I’m concerned about its size and weight. While the dimensions might meet FAA guidelines, the bag's weight of over 2.5 kilos is a significant concern, especially since most airlines have a limit of 6-8 kilos.

I love this bag. Holds all of my gear, except my 600 mm. Two camera bodies, four lenses including a 100-500 mm, large powerbank, Rode shotgun mic, batteries & charger, 3 large filters, 2 Pelican cases for memory cards, my MacBook Pro, keyboard and mouse, etc. etc. Tough as nails and safe with travel combination locks. I've taken it to Mexico, Canada, French Polynesia, Peru, the Galápagos, and more.

Hi. I've been told on Amazon that this 450 AW II bag will easily fit a 600mm and 300mm lens with room to spare. I'm looking for something to fit my Sigma 150-600mm lens into

Proper review! all the info needed. I was thinking about the price too...
But well, you can have your gear safe on each of your trips for many years so, after all, it's only the initial price which is high but the value is enormous.
    I'll be getting mine soon.
Thanks a million for your help.

Great review enjoyed it. I just purchased this backpack. Have out grown my other backpacks. Wanted some thing was more configurable and the fact that it has all of the Molle webbing on the outside opens up so many more options for additional storage. I purchase a admin pouch for mine which will hold all the bits and things I need for Macro photography. Now I can get to them without having open the backpack up.

I had one for years theyre tough , but got the temba axis 32l . To fit a 200-500 nikon on a gripped d850 , i like the zipped opening , saves wearing dirt on your back

Nice review. Have had the bag for years and love it.
One slight flaw though: due to the fact it is somewhat "rounded", the depth on the sides is not as deep as in the middle; you don't get the 16 cm there.

Watch out for one issue that came up for me. These very nice and useful 'fuzzy' interiors can shed fibers. The night before a big architectural job I cleaned my camera sensor. When I began setting up the next morning I changed lenses. Apparently a fiber strand got inside my cam body and I was not aware. Every file I shot that day had a big blurry fiber I had to retouch out, and it wasn't easy. I'm about 95% sure it came from the camera bag interior. So I check the sensor several time throughout an assignment now. A smooth material would be better for these bag interiors.

That's good to know. I use the shutter mechanism to shield the sensor in my A7 IV. A very nifty feature for storage.

I was wondering - you showed a bag for your water bottle, a pocket for the tripod, and straps for the tripod. Are these included with the backpack? Can you be clear about what is included with the backpack. Obviously all the dividers are - the heavier waist belt? Just trying to understand as I consider yet another bag for my collection, having recently invested in some gear needing a different bag than the ones I already have. TIA.
