These firmware 'updates' with no apparent updates are confusing and kind of funny at the same time. What is the point? The speaker came with 2.2 firmware and I decided to update to 3.0. After update the speaker lacked the initial deep bass. I did the following: 1. Factory reset the speaker from tribit app 2. Uninstalled the tribit app 3. Reset the speaker by pressing + and - the same time for 5 seconds 4. Reinstalled the app and reconnected the speaker. And voila, the bass is back. Hope this will work for others.

I would like to hear more music that has actual instruments used in your comparisons. For me I think it's easier to judge the sound quality. Just my two cents.

@@alanrossreviews Boombox 1 have it's peak at 60hz and then start to rolloff, it does have some decent 50hz but nothing below. 😝 (Also it does have some strong distortion in upper mids / lower treble, at least on the one I heard from my friend) I know Blast is very punchy and therefore hide the deeper bass to some extend, but it still goes deeper than Boombox 1, it's not too far from Boombox 2 past 50% volume, as your comparison between Boombox 2 and Blast showed 👍

I upgraded the firmware and now the battery indicator increments by 10% instead of 1%. And it seems to be draining the battery faster (but that might be just appearances because of the 10% increment). Sucks that I cannot downgrade the firmware...
@@carlosnunez1742 Tribit's customer support is pretty good. I'd contact them first. The shop I bought my Stormbox from actually sold me a faulty unit so the battery actually sucked. I returned it to Tribit and they sent me a new one which works excellently. Good luck!

@@ThibautMahringer it's not about "tastes", if there are a lot of mids and highs missing, this is a fact, a statistic, NOT an opinion! Secondly my question was, whether it was hardware related or firmware related.
@@freddymercury2259 It's about tastes, you are disappointed because the speaker does not please you, but it does please others. You say it's missing mids and highs, other may find it have just enough. For example I think there's too much treble past 6.5khz on the Blast in X-Bass and Music modes. If you look at graphs it's boosted in this area, yet you think treble is lacking in the whole treble area, which prove my point, it's about tastes. Personally I'm fine with the Blast as you can tweak the mids to be flat. Only treble is flawed as there's a 5.5khz dip, but that makes the speaker warmer which I like. Too much treble hurt my ears. That's also why I reduced treble past 6khz in my EQ. To answer the second part of your comment, you can EQ the lack of mids, you can add treble. But the 5.5khz dip is due to the way the tweeters are tuned. You can also reduce bass to make the speaker automatically more clear.

Thanks for the video. l purchased a stormbox a few weeks ago and love the well rounded sound it produces. But from firmware 2.6 to 3.0 l think the highs are more noticeable to my ears, l prefered the older firmware 2.6. Is it possible to reverse firmware updates? Many thanks

As of right now which speaker would you grab if you were Goin to the lake and wanted to play music for friends and family ? The blast for 155 or the boom plus for 125
t's really strange that some people notice changes in the sound when they upgrade, while others don't notice a thing. I went from firmware 3.1 to 3.5 and I really regret it. The sound lacks peachiness in the sub-bass part, but seems louder, even at low volume. This could mean that there are differences between models.... Curious! I asked Tribit, without much hope, to provide me with the 3.1 firmware, but they don't give me any sign of life... There should be an option to cancel the firmware update! If anyone has version 3.1, I'd be interested. Thank you.

You take a chance every time you update. If you are happy now id listen to other people's experiences first. One thing is for sure, nobody is saying this update has improved the sound.

I bought these speakers one month back. Since few days I have been feeling that the bass is lacking. I am not sure if I am overthinking or is it really happening.
Because i can feel the difference. Earlier even with 40% volume and with xbass mode on, the bass used to be punchier. Now it feels like something is off. I having been trying out different EQs. Even your custom EQ sounds better than xbass.

Can you imagine the Stormbox Blast losing its bass?🤣 The issue with the volume - have you checked the settings in the app or phone? I switched phones some time ago and all the speakers behaved differently - to be fair a lot them started working the correctly on the new phone😅.
@@alanrossreviews You could try turning off and back on the "Media Audio" button for the speaker in the phones bluetooth options. The only other thing being to unpair and factory reset the speaker and start over. This didn't work on my old phone though - I just got use to it eventually.

Slightly unrelated but you should try listening to Bluetooth speakers with passive radiators on your bed while you lie down or on some pillows. It gives a tactile transducer sort of feel shaking your whole bed all the way down to 20hz(not audible just physically feel the driver's excusion and your beds a giant amplifier of it) and a lot of speakers like the wking d9 and motion which doesnt have low bass gets an illusion of low bass. Id imagine it would be absolutely nuts with the stormbox. Disregard if you have a memory foam, That absorbs too vibration.
Now you cannot say that my opinion is base only review. Now i have My own Digital Spectrum Frequency analyzer and digital DB meter. And i already Measure alot of Speakers. Some speakers break my ears because of that Very sharp Treble but not harsh. 56hz bass punch with 40hz bass Emphasis. I called it "Live Band Type of bass" will destroy the bass of tribit💀 base on my analysis with my L ported and Folded Horn 10 inch Subwoofers.
Also I don't like other speakers i measure other, basically identical to the hyperboom that it rools off at 53hz and nothing else. It is boomy but no deep bass. I also planning to measure Devialet. To know what can i do to destroy those Very expensive speakers. And find solutions on some other partybox speakers. Complaining peoples tha has bass roll off at 60% specially the pb1000. as O_X Said some boxes even it is L ported Still the bass will all go in the back of the speaker the full acoustic sound. when some of Speaker sounds quite flat at Max volume. Go at the back of the speaker specially when it has corner. All of acoustic Frequencies is there. and only impact can feel in the front. Me and Team O_X tested that. Even L ported Speakers their bass still all go in the back louder than in the front. Only impact in the front.

@@aleksmiscua.9568 you may simply have a room where the resonate frequency happens to be around where the speaker peaks. Hard to say without experiencing what is happening. You could try some bass traps in the room.
What do you have the speaker sitting on top of? Often if it's on a wooden table or the floor, this will help the bass resonate and travel through the floor and walls more. Try sitting it on top of a pillow or something soft and see if that makes a difference. If it does, just get a piece of foam to put under the speaker after that and that should help decouple it. Otherwise you can also just keep it on the pillow as well..lol

I did use the stormbox for a while before the bb3 came out, and i agree with the budget idea, but honestly in my country the bb3 came down in price to 350-400 dollars, which is hands down the best value due to its better overall performance than the blast, except the lower mids which i think were too kicking to me ears on the tribit, the sound profile of the boombox is way more pleasent to me... and look how many buy it.. its the overall exprience that gets me with this speaker till this day

no you are wrong. i had issues with it before measuring it. i always listen first and then see what the measurements say as opposed to my ears. i am certainly not alone in finding the bb3 harsh. if you find the tuning suits thats great, for others that hear what i hear they prefer the bb2. thats quite some eq you have there. maybe you would like the motion boom plus.

or they played it in a different room and now it sounds different anyway 🥳 but im sure for some its real, firmware's just always seem to throw up anomalies 🤷♂️

Many bugs are not related to sound quality, but related to Bluetooth, lights, button actions, etc

Thanks for the video. l purchased a stormbox a few weeks ago and love the well rounded sound it produces. But from firmware 2.6 to 3.0 l think the highs are more noticeable to my ears, l prefered the older firmware 2.6. Is it possible to reverse firmware updates? Many thanks

Try to reduce highs in the EQ, I did not too far ago because I found my settings to be a little too much

@Alan Ross Reviews alan u went back to the blast for all uses inside outside its best of the best I do love that rave party 2 but that's more of outside speaker just too boomy muddy indoors and put my blast and boombox 3 side by side outside on top of my car and did the bb3 sound maybe a tad better in that scenario yes I'd say it did but def not to point it validates the huge price difference that's for damn sure

Can you review Bone conduction speaker? Just saw one on the internet,they are really small but when you stick them on a hollow surface it gets very loud apparently

They’re not bone conduction, just conduction. All of them are just transducers and all of them sound awful.

you cant get the deeper bass of the bb2 no matter what you do
I just literally jumped from 2.9 to 3.0 & I didn't notice a difference 🤷 if anything it hit a lil harder 😤 but it's weird these days I prefer my Soundcore Motion Boom Plus for music 👌✨

t's really strange that some people notice changes in the sound when they upgrade, while others don't notice a thing. I went from firmware 3.1 to 3.5 and I really regret it. The sound lacks peachiness in the sub-bass part, but seems louder, even at low volume. This could mean that there are differences between models.... Curious! I asked Tribit, without much hope, to provide me with the 3.1 firmware, but they don't give me any sign of life... There should be an option to cancel the firmware update! If anyone has version 3.1, I'd be interested. Thank you.

You take a chance every time you update. If you are happy now id listen to other people's experiences first. One thing is for sure, nobody is saying this update has improved the sound.

I bought these speakers one month back. Since few days I have been feeling that the bass is lacking. I am not sure if I am overthinking or is it really happening.

Because i can feel the difference. Earlier even with 40% volume and with xbass mode on, the bass used to be punchier. Now it feels like something is off. I having been trying out different EQs. Even your custom EQ sounds better than xbass.

The issue with the volume - have you checked the settings in the app or phone? I switched phones some time ago and all the speakers behaved differently - to be fair a lot them started working the correctly on the new phone😅.
other than absolute volume, what else can effect this?
@@alanrossreviews You could try turning off and back on the "Media Audio" button for the speaker in the phones bluetooth options. The only other thing being to unpair and factory reset the speaker and start over. This didn't work on my old phone though - I just got use to it eventually.

Not normal, you should return it for replacement
I had this issue, using a mini air blower on every spot of the speaker corrected the issue on mine. I can't explain why though

@@Chriselchingon23 no need the update the power supply no longer good. You turn it on and it immediately turns off that's with full charge. Not good for nothing now. Ready for trash can. Only 6 months old and broke already.

not 3.2 it's 3.5 and the bass is amazing, now u can torn off the BATTERY LOW voice, The maximum sound and they put bass again on 80-100% range

Slightly unrelated but you should try listening to Bluetooth speakers with passive radiators on your bed while you lie down or on some pillows. It gives a tactile transducer sort of feel shaking your whole bed all the way down to 20hz(not audible just physically feel the driver's excusion and your beds a giant amplifier of it) and a lot of speakers like the wking d9 and motion which doesnt have low bass gets an illusion of low bass. Id imagine it would be absolutely nuts with the stormbox. Disregard if you have a memory foam, That absorbs too vibration.
yes vibrations do add to the sense of bass, its why people have to turn up their headphones to get the same bass. 👌

Now you cannot say that my opinion is base only review. Now i have My own Digital Spectrum Frequency analyzer and digital DB meter. And i already Measure alot of Speakers. Some speakers break my ears because of that Very sharp Treble but not harsh. 56hz bass punch with 40hz bass Emphasis. I called it "Live Band Type of bass" will destroy the bass of tribit💀 base on my analysis with my L ported and Folded Horn 10 inch Subwoofers.

Also I don't like other speakers i measure other, basically identical to the hyperboom that it rools off at 53hz and nothing else. It is boomy but no deep bass. I also planning to measure Devialet. To know what can i do to destroy those Very expensive speakers. And find solutions on some other partybox speakers. Complaining peoples tha has bass roll off at 60% specially the pb1000. as O_X Said some boxes even it is L ported Still the bass will all go in the back of the speaker the full acoustic sound. when some of Speaker sounds quite flat at Max volume. Go at the back of the speaker specially when it has corner. All of acoustic Frequencies is there. and only impact can feel in the front. Me and Team O_X tested that. Even L ported Speakers their bass still all go in the back louder than in the front. Only impact in the front.

@@aleksmiscua.9568 you may simply have a room where the resonate frequency happens to be around where the speaker peaks. Hard to say without experiencing what is happening. You could try some bass traps in the room.

What do you have the speaker sitting on top of? Often if it's on a wooden table or the floor, this will help the bass resonate and travel through the floor and walls more. Try sitting it on top of a pillow or something soft and see if that makes a difference. If it does, just get a piece of foam to put under the speaker after that and that should help decouple it. Otherwise you can also just keep it on the pillow as well..lol

I did use the stormbox for a while before the bb3 came out, and i agree with the budget idea, but honestly in my country the bb3 came down in price to 350-400 dollars, which is hands down the best value due to its better overall performance than the blast, except the lower mids which i think were too kicking to me ears on the tribit, the sound profile of the boombox is way more pleasent to me... and look how many buy it.. its the overall exprience that gets me with this speaker till this day
its good you keep the one you prefer. i have both to hand and go for the blast. the 700hz peak kills loud volume for me indoors.

no you are wrong. i had issues with it before measuring it. i always listen first and then see what the measurements say as opposed to my ears. i am certainly not alone in finding the bb3 harsh. if you find the tuning suits thats great, for others that hear what i hear they prefer the bb2. thats quite some eq you have there. maybe you would like the motion boom plus.

The "new" firmware (0.5.0) actually has less bass at higher volumes from my test 🙈 so that one is a no goodies
