Silage 2023 - Lifting Grass with Reco Mengele & Ford NH 8340 plus Massey Fergusons 6290 & 6490

Taken just this week, and one of my favourite outfits to catch each year. Fars outfit picking up their 1st cut, a good crop (2nd goes for hay) with their Ford New Holland 8340 going strong on their trailed Reco Mengele SH40N. Carting is done with their Massey Ferguson 6290 and a friends Massey Ferguson 6490. With thanks to all involved. Filmed in Hampshire, UK. Watch in HD for best quality.

Me too, probably a highlight of the summer in my opinion. They only do 1 cut a year now with it as only doing beef now so its always very nice to catch it.

Lovely video of a classic 90s silaging outfit. Those Reco Mengele forage harvesters possibly the best machine of its type ever and perfectly matched power wise to the NH 8340. AS Marston trailer almost looks too small with the MF 6490 but it’s probably at least 10-ton so maybe not. Great video Tim, throughly enjoyed it. Cheers, David

Cheers David, yes it is, nothing stops it its a proper ol' unit even in the thickest of swaths. It does a bit but yes its a 10 ton and otherwise looks more matched behind the 6290.

Indeed, the farm with the 6490 does run a trailed one, take a look back to last year if you wish there's a vid on here or two of it on one.
