- Jay Pathak talks with Rick Warren about evangelism, global missions and what Rick calls “finishing the task.”
Rick also shares encouraging words about God using broken people, specific encouragement to the Vineyard, and tells some fun stories about running into in John Wimber and the early Southern California Vineyard in the early days.
Rick and Kay Warren founded Saddleback Church when they were just 26 years old. They had no money, no land, no building and no members - but they had a dream. And as they led our church for 43 years, the vision that God gave Pastor Rick became a reality. He currently serves as our Founding Pastor and Executive Director of Finishing the Task.

I was a young Vineyard pastor (Colorado Springs) and was a student at Fuller. I was taking a 'Church Planting class' with Peter Wagner, a one-week intensive in Pasadena, and Rick was Dr. Wagner's guest for one of those days... we all went to Pizza Hut, and shared and listened to Rick. Such great memories!!
Do these tribes have 7day weeks, or 30 day months or 28 day months.? I always wonder why most, near all Christian churches do Sabbath on Sunday it truly makes a difference to do Sabbath on Saturdays, it is the day God sanctified, his seal is written in the 4th commandment, just wondering. God bless
Thank you Jay and thank you Rick for blessing us with your GLOBAL VISION. Rich and Patti
I love these guys.
Yes! Favorite line: "It's too big for any one group to do. It's gonna take the whole body of Christ."
Thank you
What a great way of thinking about our lost brothers and sisters..Heartbreaking and yet, inspiring for me/us to go and do Gods' work! God supplies even when we feel its bigger than us. Our God is bigger still..even if we never leave our state, our prayers can and do! Until the whole word hears! I pray gor you to have comfort Rick, in your loss. God bless you both, and your work for the Lord. And All those you inspire, to go forth!
What a fantastic conversation, inspiring, moving and challenging. Thank you for posting it.
