Fein! Bravo! Bravissimo!!!!!!!!! JSBach wird sich freuen! Ich bin begeistert, dass Sie JSB und dessen Musik auch so sehr lieben! Ich verbeuge mich vor Ihnen. Alles, alles Gute und weiterhin viel Erfolg und Gesundheit.
Loyd Gravitt Iirc, when NASA was deciding on what to put on the famous Gold Records on Voyagers 1 & 2, one scientist suggested that it should include the entirety of Bach's works, but that, he said, 'would be boasting' .... If there is another fly-by of Pluto (personally I wish we could put a satellite in orbit, but for pesky Kepler...), we should just that ... Bach belongs in the stars ...
The travesty that is modern art is what results when God is left out of the equation. Artists only aspire to appease the base level of humanity rather than to the divine.
@@PM_ME_MESSIAEN_PICS hahaha thats what i thought. I'd take a led zeppelin any day over some of the souless tripe marketed in the christian contemporary bin
My grandfather (a Sheffield steel-worker) coached the local choir. As he lay dying my father said to him "there's plenty o' music weer tha'rt gooin' father" "Ay lad" said the old gentleman, conducting a couple of feeble beats with one finger: "BACH".
This glorious music gives me the shivers down my spine every time I hear it. Singing it in Exeter Cathedral many years ago was a momentous occasion for me and it was hard not to choke up. The B minor has everything in it and would be my one desert island disc if I ever had to choose one!
The Mass in B minor, probably, the most sublime work of sacred music of all time, even more intense than the Missa Malheur me bat of Josquin Desprez or The Vespers of Monteverdi !
Qué hermoso. Notable el equilibrio entre el sonido de orquesta y coro, nada sobra, todo contribuye a ese perfecto equilibrio. Bellísimo. Gracias por compartir 😊
I weep with joy. This demonstrates how the greatest music is utterly universal. I truly believe that if the works of Bach or Beethoven were somehow to make their way to the civilisation on some planet in a distant star system, however remote, they would appreciate its greatness and find ways to perform it to each other. Each trumpet can produce a set of notes from the 'harmonic series', controlled by the performer's mouth. Some of the higher notes are out of tune, requiring the performer to make further micro-adjustments via the mouth. It is very difficult to do. Modern trumpets have valves to vary the length of tubing, allowing easy access to a full range of notes.
By tightening or loosening the lips ("embouchure") the player makes the metal tube vibrate for it's WHOLE length, in two HALVES, in three THIRDS, etc. Exactly like the harmonics on a stringed instrument. (The "HARMONIC SERIES") The valves when introduced later, add respectively a SEMITONE, a WHOLE TONE, or a TONE AND A HALF, (plus their various combinations,) to the fundamental pitch. (Retired Professor: can't stop teaching!) Bending the tube for convenience in handling does not affect this arrangement.
it's amazing to see what these early trumpets can do in the right hands, and what they sounded like when this was written. Especially considering they were so limited in what they could play, and who could play them.

I disagree. These natural instruments are very difficult to play compared to a modern trumpet, and I think it's not unreasonable to expect that some notes will be broken. This is probably my favorite recording of this movement of this piece.
Masato Suzuki has always been one of my favourite Bach scholars. Everything he touches turns to gold!

the human race has produced nothing more sublime than this

At least Bach demonstrates we can do much better things than we use to do.

@@bono894 This is the nastiest insult towards Bach that I've ever heard, comparing him to Christian music today.

Collegium Japan - astonishing!
Thank you.
This final movement gives me goosebumps every time I hear it!

what a wonderful memory, and so true.
So touching. I agree. Please God give his father eternal peace and bless his family. Amen.
This is so beautiful. 🥲

You do not know this music unless you sing it!
I feel the same. Just the same.
Baroque bows....and wooden transverse flutes....very faithful performance...
And baroque long trumpets without waves.
The Mass in B minor, probably, the most sublime work of sacred music of all time, even more intense than the Missa Malheur me bat of Josquin Desprez or The Vespers of Monteverdi !
Indeed! But no slight against Desprez or Monteverdi, whose works are also sublime.
great! Not too slow! Can hear everything, all inner voices. Excellent
thank you for this wonderful Bach``s exercept
JUST AWESOME!!!

In the breathtaking silence following the final cadence, I'm quite sure we heard Bach's vehement approval.
Grant us peace, dear Lord, in these troubled times. Blazing trumpets, glorious choir, sublime music, pity it's an excerpt.
beautiful
Brilliant performance!
La música genial, la interpretación magnífica. Bach por siempre.
Good piece. Clarity of sound and this is where the tempo should be.
Bach's music invites me into the unfathomably comfortable world
This is a human lullaby, and the cradle of the soul

Wait a minute because not me kindness is wisely be. Meaningful. Thank you.
Are there any plans for a dvd or blu ray release ?
Can anyone describe how these trumpets work? Clearly each trumpet can produce only one specific note but as I hear it there ale plenty of notes...

Un-vented natural trumpets.

Hidemi Suzuki on Cello! Awesome!
Fine performance, however I prefer Supersister's rendition.
"father" with a short "a" of course, as in "cat".!

One wobble from the trumpet ruined everything
