So if you place ammo crates down and fill resources you can look at the explosive dammage and radius. With that you can make your ammo capartments based on that info. Chain explosions become pretty rare after you compare the hit points of the blocks compared to the explosion.
I use the staggered ammo boxes with heavy armor like you have done in previous videos aswell, but instead of in the middle I use it at the bottom of the ship. That way it doubles as a keel so I don't have to use weak lead. The only things that could destroy the armor compartments are a lot of torpedos or a submarine with supercav rounds.
@@BorderWise12 That's actually what I do as well. And IIRC I learned that off of one of your videos. Most of my ships sit pretty deep like yours, and by the time they hit the ammo keel the rest of the ship is toast anyway lol.
I think it would be very H U M O R O U S to build an intimidating looking ship with a heavy armor shell and scary guns, but have the rest of the inside be made of almost nothing but ammo boxes. So when somebody else downloads your ship to try and benchmark against it, it just evaporates after 1 to 2 shots.
Cram is harder to build effective due to the slow projectile and arguably the tetris' required. A craft also needs to be built around the crams function unlike aps
I started pre advanced cannons back when crams weren't yet a thing. The predecessor to them shared alot of similarities but I was way to much of a noob to abuse them
I would recommend subdividing the bow and stern into smaller compartments, so that the space isn't entirely flooded with one hit.
Yup, that will happen near the end. 👍

Good move! I used to use ammo keels. I'm not actually sure why I stopped. 🤔
@@BorderWise12 Wet gap needing to be bigger and accidentally making it more floaty? Not enough space, that’s all I can really think of.

Such a helpful series! Thanks for going to all the trouble to put this out, big help!
You're welcome! :)
I use Helium pumps on ships in conjunction with other weight saving tricks to make them float higher, is it a good move to use them like that?
Yup! The heaviest ships pretty much require helium pumps. 😁👍

I have found success with making heavy ships lighter by using helium pumps and air pumps
The downside of helium pumps is that they stop working if there's a leak.
Don't beam slopes allow the explosion to propagate along the open ends? Wouldn't this allow it to open it like a zipper?
Nope. Tested it, works fine.
FtD physics is a little funky.
@@BorderWise12 Awesome, I'll start to use this setup.
Unrelated but istg Cram cannons are harder to make than APS, probably cuz I learnt APS before Cram. You the same or?

I found CRAMs easier, but that's probably because I started with them 🤷♂️

Cram takes longer to build unless you have prefabs. But is more straight forward.
That ship is going to get 2 hull breaches and instantly sink
