Seeing this thing live was just stunning, the sound and the way he fell wow just brutal. So much respect to all these athletes going in there taking risks and putting on a show unbelievable night!
I’ve only been fortunate enough to see one event live so far, that being Sandhagen vs. Font. It was still an amazing experience with some good moments, but I cannot even imagine how crazy the energy was at an event like this. Here’s hoping i see one someday, either way I love hearing about it from folks who were there. Cheers
@@Bassist-Beneath this was also my first live event, then lucked out again for cheaper tickets in UFC Noche in Vegas which was a glorious night. But my take away would be to avoid Vegas/NYC UFC events live as they're pricey and it's not a full house until the main cards. Id say you get a better experience when they travel to other states as fans pack the event from the start, also tickets tend to be cheaper.
Justin's skills have continued to improve throughout his UFC career. From the wild style used against Johnson to the surgical precision employed against Ferguson, Gaethje continues to evolve into a well-rounded fighting machine. If only his head could endure the cumulative damage!
I need to see improvement against guys who are skilled on the ground. We all know how dangerous he is against strikers. Every time hes in there with a ground specialist, he freezes up.

Justin kept blasting that head kick all first round even trevor kept telling him go high and Dustin blocked most of it but the kick landed so perfectly it just shut off the lights.
This is an extremely hard fight for me to watch and it's not only because of the outcome but because it's my number 1 and 2 favorite fighters and they already had their first fight that was one of the best fights ever! Like I've said a few times I don't think alot of people actually know just how great both of these guys really are.

Actually Poirier's left hand is consistently effective at protecting his face, but Gaethje executed a close-range kick, cleverly concealing it behind a punch, making it truly unpredictable. Great and entertaining match !!!! 🔥
Definitely a calculation on Justin's part. He showed dustin the high kick 2 or 3 times , and it was a threat every time he got it up there. But Dustin's distance management allowed them to be blocked with one hand or miss outright. Just fractions of an inch. Justin knew he had enough power to make it work if he just timed it right and was in a little closer. He did and the rest is history. A small failure on Dustin's fight iq not to recognize the level of threat the high kick coming at him posed to his consciousness. A small adjustment with his blocking, would have negated the kick regardless of the distance and timing. A two arm block would have allowed Dustin's left hand to be further back, and the right would have helped it not penetrate as deep. It's a weakness of that modified Philly shell dustin uses. It is susceptible to the high kick, but dustin speed, distance management, and overall toughness, usually negates the threat. No so that night vs Justin. You can tell Trevor spotted this in tape and drilled it with justin. Truly one of the greatest striking coaches

Yep, the kicks were the biggest change from the first fight. Imo Dustin should've been more aggressive to force the boxing 1v1 but ofc hindsight is 20/20. Nobody expected a kick KO based on how their first fight went, which was more boxing than anything and that's why Poirier took it.
Gaethje showed dustin that high kick a few times and it was a threat every time. Super close, penetrating, and dustin didnt make the read on how big the threat posed by that headkick was
