You can add potatoes to couacous but it is not as essential as the turnip. A couscous without turnip isn't itself lol. However, there are regional particularities to the dish.

Small correction for darija : Chicken = Djaj (starts with d and ends in j); Jaj = Glass (No D); Jaz = passed or passed by (only in some northern dialects); Bread = Khoobz (The o sound is a little similar to that of Google).
