How Wildlife Crossings Protect Both Animals And People!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 вер 2023
- Thousands of wildlife bridges, crossings and underpasses are popping up all over the United States connecting and protecting important species of animals across the country and a lot more are coming,
bridges, under passes, streams and waterways are all ways that wildlife can cross Americas busiest roads and combined with extensive fencing road accidents have decreased by 90% since 2020
These crossing are much more than just creating a simple bridge or underpass, they replicate existing ecosystems, these critter crossings have an incredible 80,000 native plants installed on them and underpasses are made to replicate natural streams thriving with aquatic life that animals love to follow.
In this episode...we are going to look at some of these incredible success stories happening through out the country In Washington, Colorado, Nevada and Utah.
from the first projects ever made to the current construction surge in wildlife crossings across the USA reconnecting wildlife with their natural territory
and with this awesome wildlife camera footage we will get to see how many of these incredible animals actually use the crossings.
The USA now has thousands of wildlife crossings and plans to build many more, new legislation means more money is being allocated to this cause. The most money ever officially allocated for wildlife in the USA. $350 million is set aside for grants to commission a crossing near you, make sure to apply if you need one in your local community.

We need so many more of these ...qe should of dome this 50 years ago everywhere
BEST news ever , WIN WIN situation :) finally Government doing GOOD . . .
This is the kind of content I love to see. People in every political party can get on board with these. For those with doubts about Republicans liking this, remember that Republicans do a lot of hunting. Anything that keeps the animals healthy is helping them to continue having parent-child bonding experiences and traditions for generations.
It was Republican presidents who supported and signed into law many of the biggest environmental pieces of legislation. Teddy Roosevelt with public conservation and Nixon with a bunch too.@@carsonrush3352
They've been doing this for decades and the lady lied about the 90% reduction. Why she lied I don't know.
Awesome!!!
More of this please❤
Awesome to see this being done. I hope this trend continues and more states get on board with it. Thanks for this.
fantastic
Good news never makes the news, my thanks to you.
Watching your content gives me hope for the future is there are people in this world who are truly thinking about practical ways to change things for the better it's too damn busy do fall into a doom loop when you watch work you guys put out it really gives you a sense that tomorrow might actually be better
seriously, i created a playlist called "hope" and added this video to it hah
Yes I love how uplifting these videos are!
Look up precision fermentation.@@ivanruiz2218
Thank you for being one of the few sustainability channels that aren't doom posters.
Eco nihilists are ignorant fools.
I don't know how many turtles I helped across the roads here in northern Minnesota. Deer are still in danger here. Raccoons and other animals are in the same situations. Road-kills are still very common. Breaks my heart every time I see them along the roadside.
10,000 THUMBS UP!!!!!!!
6:37 that makes me so happy
Yay!!!!! I love to see legislation and projects to protect wildlife! 🦊🦝🦌🦬🐿🦨🦉
A long time coming...we should be doing this everywhere and as a matter of course wherever highways and large roads are built. We need these on the east coast desperately!
THere is also leadership for this sector , well-done mother America take advance step towards ...
"The future wildlife leader "
Great video!! Thank you so much! I’m so happy to see that these huge efforts are being made for the wildlife!
I would like here in Brazil the government does the same
More of this all over the World! 100% Good idea !
Here in the Netherlands we've been doing this for years but, still not enough.
The united nations should subsidise or pay 10% for these in poorer countries worldwide. It saves lives.
They don't have the number of cars we have. What's annihilating wildlife in poor countries is poaching and desertification.
On Ontario’s highway 69/400 south of Sudbury, there have been bridges and culverts for animals since 1999.
I've seen the full video of the bears crossing and one of the little cubs doesn't really feel like crossing and you can see her panic trying to keep multiple cubs out of the road. It's a long video but really highlights exactly why these bridges are such a wonderful things for all species. ❤
Thanks! 👍💪✌
This is good but why has it taken so long? & why aren't these things in the design phase of every road, railway, pipeline or fence?
They cost a LOT, and government moves slowly. We private sector citizens can do this too; what's our excuse?
Most roads and rail already built decades ago.
Potential for refusing existing over pass when they are replaced as part of end of life
Absolutely fantastic !!!!
❤❤❤❤❤ yay
Such a great idea! I would love to see these in Georgia
Such good news.
Thank you Leaf of life.
Animals learn faster than you think.
90% reduction is amazing.
Take care.
Well made video that got straight to the point, good work
I did enjoy this video so thank you for bring it to us.
that was so heart warming. Thank You.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Such good news! I had not heard of this in the USA!
Brilliant!
I love wildlife crossings. ❤That is all.
Oooo nature bridges. I love those!
Great project to save wild life 👍 congratulations🎉
This is such good news!
We need one in Massachusetts!!! You can literally see deer waiting to be killed on the side of the road waiting to cross with NO CHANCE IN SIGHT!!! Please, PLEASE... Someone with money needs to help them!!!!
There are grants available for this, you need to make an application for it
I was thinking of something like this quite a few years back, except I thought of it as something to be used for livestock and Wildlife .
Great , uk should do somethong similar . I wonder if animals have a neutrality agreement on the wildlife crossings 🙂
I'd like to see a follow up video on how to get legislation enacted for these at state and local levels. Thanks for sharing.
How is it possible that the USA have so little nature bridges? Even the Netherlands have more of those bridges than the entire USA. 🤯
Usa has more than a thousand, how many does Holland have because Google says 600
Are you aware of the size and human density of the Netherlands compared to the United States?
Example, let's compare the Netherlands with 17.5 million people to the highly dense Los Angeles area, which is 3 times as large as the Netherlands, but has less than 13 million people. If you look at these numbers, you can understand why bridges might be needed in the Netherlands, but not top priority in the United States.
Over 40 individual U.S. states are each larger than the Netherlands.
The vast majority of the U.S. is still totally unpopulated. The animals have plenty of land to roam.
Europe has had them for decades. It's about time it started here
This is amazing. And here I thought Geoff Lawton was the ultimate authority. I would love to do some greening in New Mexico or Arizona. Are there schools in the United States?
BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME.
Thanks
Your welcome and thank you for your support
Wonderful…
I love animals 💕💕
I think this should be a standard procedure when building large human infrastructure. Its ming bogling that humans could build this without this before. In Poland we have this kind of crossings for some time now. But I think not nearly enough.
❤❤❤❤❤
Pennsylvania may soon get a wildlife crossing because the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission wants to bypass the Allegheny Mountain Tunnel. The bypass road will have a wildlife crossing, that is if this bypass ever gets built.
The highway by my house has like 2-3 beautiful deer road kill per month in the exact same spot.
At one point there were 3 in a 4 day period .
One day I seen about 50 massive black buzzards in a farm field that were in a circular formation and all looking to the center. Then I noticed a big beautiful injured buck that was laying in the center on his tummy with his head propped up as if he were relaxing and staring back at the buzzards waiting for him to die. I passed by an hour later and they were eating him. These beautiful animals feel incredible pain and fear before they die and it's completely unnecessary.
More rail would lessen wildlife collisions, especially if it was owned by government such that it allows use by a more diverse array of private train companies.
This would be cheaper and add more resiliency in the long run than more roads and tokens, expensive wildlife bridges.
That ship has passed. Americans have taken to cars, and trains will never become popular. The future is self-driving cars chauffeuring us around.
@@paladintrueknight
Pushing for electric cars will be coming round to bite us very quickly. We need denser rail between cities because it makes economic sense well and above over trucks, RVs, etc.
Amtrak is how not to run private rail.
Rail is about increasing access in a cost effective way. This would economically build up smaller towns, reduce energy use, free up land used for impermeable road surface, add efficiency in time regarding boarding compared to planes; personnel productivity compared to sitting in a rush hour traffic jam with your hands on the steering wheel; the ability to eat, or use the restroom instead of pullinetc.g off; frees up employees; reduces shipping costs;
👍
Turtles have flippers, tortoises have legs.
Build it and they will cross.
I wish there are lot a these crossings. America is a place where only money matters. Although these crossings are to prevent human life and property damage not they will save a lot of animals.
Funny to state the cost of accidents being primarily to your vehicle, then to wildlife and humans.
My dream is that a corridor is created from Midwest to southwest and bison mugration in mullions us re instated
US made itself such a car dependent nation instead of expanding and improving trains. Glad to see we are finally making positive changes!
Everybody having a car IS a positive change.
This is all fantastic news, but I wonder just how cost effective this really is. $87m is being spent on the Annenberg Wildlife Crossing, a corridor across the Ventura Freeway that was originally spurred on for a single mountain lion (since killed by a car) to cross the freeway and have access to Griffith Park. I don't want this work to end, but I'd just like some fiscal oversight... we're not all Wallis Annenberg or Frank & Joan Randall.
A quality bridge can last almost forever. Think about the cost per year, relative to the state's budget.
Think about it in terms of the number of prevented deaths of humans and wildlife. The fewer accidents which hold up traffic and people wasting gas while waiting for the accident to be moved.
Kinda seems like you’re yelling in this video. Lol I have the volume all the way down
Just say "Interstate 90". "The I-90 Interstate" is redundant.
I wonder if they might get a photo of bigfoot using one of these bridges. If there is such a thing.
This country is the home of all sorts animals including people as well. And they were here before anyone else.
Please don't feed the sasquatches.
Very Cool.
Are Tax Dollars actually doing good.
NOW - How about spending are tax dollars to save OUR country.
Just a thought.
California has a massive state budget. The Democrat mayors just choose to not fight crime.
Should hsve been built right to begin with !!!! Think of the lives it would have saved ????? Both animal and human !!!!
Just stop build build build will do
I'm glad collisions are down but lol meanwhile human infrastructure is rotting
the animals need some food and milk asap
That's a very good job.👍👍👍👍
Road Safety News -- TURTL ISLAND IZ GALLANTLY SPENDING MILLIONZ ON WILDLYFE INFRASTRUCTURE
And spending Hundreds of Billions on conflicts on the other side of the globe.
And 3/4 of tax money on our own military. That equals the entire military budgets of the next nine or ten countries COMBINED. That's where most of our tax money goes. Toward equipment to kill other people's kids.
Yes and that’s not a new thing is it? This is a very good idea, maybe if more countries concentrated on this type of animal and human conflict it may have a positive effect on human to human conflicts as well.
Do you want to live under Sharia Law?

Bravo to all involved in this REAL progress not some woke communist nonsense. So many traumatic or dramatic accidents avoided.
Don't know what communism has to do with anything in the vid... I guess you just had to bring up some nonsense
The environmental movement is filled to the brim with socialists/communists - they just don't use the word, because they know it's unpopular. Here's a hint on how to spot them: they say that "the current way of doing business" is destroying the world, and things need to be PLANNED to change the inherent "greed" focus of business. You're welcome.@@zapermunz
