  • First manned flight with this aircraft. 162kg TOW total flying time was 8 minutes, which turned out to be 57% of the battery capacity. This means that the craft has a theoretical flight time of 14 minutes 100%DoD. 11min 10s until you are down to 80%DoD. My assessment is that 10minutes is the real safe flight time capability with the 35kg LiPo that are currently mounted on the craft. Overall the test went really well. There was a little more vibration than I had anticipated, and Yaw directional stability in forward flight was inadequate. In this first flight the I-gain limits were set to zero. Next flight the Yaw I-limit will be set to a value above zero to obtain better directional stability.
    Regarding wearing MC suite and full face helmet etc. etc. This project is about obtaining the precious feeling of freedom. 10 min at a time LOL...-I know, but still.....so wearing a fortress would be counterproductive. I have tried to build in safety in the structure itself, so that I can feel FREE. Goggles and ear protection or headphones is a must. All other clothing is OPTIONAL. Im flying in a un-populate area, so I just might try flying nude. I promise to NOT make a video documenting that flight... LOL!
    Setup:
    FC 5x KK 2.1 running stock 1.6 firmware
    Motors 76x Multistar Elite 5010 274Kv
    ESC 76x afro 20A HV, with one extra 63V 330uF low ESR capacitor fitted to each ESC to handle the long current path from battery to ESC.
    Batteries 80x Multistar 4S 5.2Ah
    RC 5x Turnigy TGY-i6S Digital Proportional Radio Control System
    All of the above purchased from Hobby King, -my favorite online hobby shop!
    Total cost approximately 10.000USD

    It looks like a science fiction movie. It’s wonderful to invest in a project and see it work. I can imagine the satisfaction this man feels now. I think that some adjustments will make this invention more secure and perhaps marketable. Since I saw a drone for the first time, I immediately thought about that possibility. Why not a super drone to drive people. Good that someone thought about it too and happily ran the idea. Sincerely wishes this invention can really be used and improved. The little man started coughing on the first flight, imagine with so much dust that the propellers raised. Let's go ahead, the future is right there. Congratulations for the initiative man! 🏆

    Very cool. Your vertical is strong, but I bet you're now considering how fatigue resistant the kevlar strings are that support your four "propulsion rings" and inspecting for stress cracks in the rings themselves. You may want to get some kind of helmet and some hearing protection if you keep this up!

    • @AdmiralQuality
      @AdmiralQuality 7 років тому

      I doubt he needs hearing protection, but yeah, a helmet would be an idea!

    • @AdmiralQuality
      @AdmiralQuality 7 років тому +1

      Time index? I see no earplugs. (I see a strap for his goggles.) And there'd be little need for earplugs. They're brushless DC motors, almost completely silent. The only noise comes from the propellers themselves.
      If this guy had any concept of safety he'd be wearing a helmet.

    • @illidur
      @illidur 7 років тому

      He has ear plugs and wind noise is the problem, not the motors.

    • @AdmiralQuality
