Interesting fact: Ray Kroc ended up becoming a Red Cross ambulance driver (after lying about his age) during the First World War and ended up serving alongside another person who also was in the Red Cross and also happened to lie about his age; a little-known man named Walt Disney.
Kroc...not "CROC"
@@crowscall1901, I don’t know why that got auto-corrected.
He also owned a Football Company too
@@crowscall1901 look again that's how it was spelled.
@@crowscall1901 who cares how it was spelled, seriously the Crow could stay quiet once in a while and stop calling out on others
Thanks Lamont, for another FASCINATING STORY!!!! I ALWAYS thought Ray Croft was the "Founder" of "McDonalds", you certainly proved me wrong. From listening to you though, he sounded like a "Hanger On" who gave very little for something that's worth BILLIONS now!!!! But, in all fairness, no one knew that it would grow into such an ENORMOUS INSTITUTE!!!!
Tried a McDonalds a few years ago and it was tasteless as I noticed they were microwaving everything. My number 1 is Kentucky fried chicken, you always taste the delicious herbs and spices. First tasted KFC in 1971 and still eat it now. 🇬🇧
He did , there was a movie made telling story , look up mc d movie very heated just like colonel saunders story..
Kroc...not " CROFT"
It's Kroc not Croc.
Lamont, you are sooo knowledgeable!! I feel blessed to follow you, good soul and just one of the most interesting people on UA-cam!!

Thank you Lamont
THANK YOU LAMONT .DAVID MORONEY IN DUBLIN IRELAND.
I get so educated watching you Lamont 👍🏽
Great video Lamont! Mark Knopfler from the band Dire Straits has a song called "Boom, like That" on his Shangri-La album about the beginning of McDonald's.
McDonald's has the absolute best French Fries 🍔🍟
EVER.
They used to have the best fries but that ended in the 1980s when forced to go healthier now I think blah
i agree, they are the best
When making your own french fries before throwing them in the hot oil preferably peanut oil sprinkle white granulated sugar and then salt them to taste after you remove the fries from the hot oil...and now you have the best fries ever...
They changed them they taste like cardboard.
Hi Lamont yeah just tuned in on point good to see ya working proper interesting fella Ry UK
Where The Dead Live Is More Beautiful Than Where The Living Live. Strange World.
Last time I ate at MacDonald I got food poisoning was sick for three days.will never eat there again.
That's the way Ray Crock did it. Is through owning the land and leasing it to the franchises
best youtuber out there for us
Yes
You should do one on Dave Thomas
Interesting fact: Approximately 1 out of 7 Americans work or have worked for Mickey Ds. Myself included. Compared to 1 out of 9 people who are left-handed. Also including myself!
Oh wow great history I diknow that
Ray and Joan Croc left all their money to The Salvation Army and so now there are some Croc Centers in some cities.
I feel bad thes guys
I’m always learning some history here you’re always so informative🤓
I'm glad its still McDonalds and not Crocks.
Boom, like that.
Although Crocks would be a better description of what they sell as food.
@@skipads5141 LOL
It's Kroc.
He should have named the store Crock's!
For those who want to know more about this story, watch the movie The Founder (2016) and you'll see just how Ray Croc manipulated the brothers and literally took advantage of them. Nice video!
wow
Michael Keaton was great in that movie. Good movie.
Felt so bad for the brothers
Great movie. And yeah if that movie is accurate Kroc was a dick
The founders of MCDONALDS....
If they could come from the graves and see how MCDONALDS is like in today times it would never be a MCDONALDS.
And today the machine is still broke
😂 true
Yup, the old ice cream machine, lol!
Was looking for this comment😂😂😂😂😂
Omg this joke is getting old. 🤦
Ain't that the truth! When the hell are they ever going to be repaired?!!!!!
I live 30 miles from the original site of McDonald’s in San Bernardino, CA. I highly recommend reading, “Behind the Arches” by John F. Love. As a teacher, I was able to introduce my students (via phone) to Dick’s grandson. He told them that his grandfather felt cheated by Ray Kroc. Kroc apparently had promised them a lifetime royalty - when they sold out to him - which would have been worth many millions.
So my guess is the brothers didn't get the royalty.
There also is The Founder with Michael Keaton as Ray Kroc. I suggest that movie too.
If you want to know more the story watch the movie the founder starring Michael Keaton
I couldn’t tell what was in those glass cases until you got closer, I’ve never seen urns displayed like that… thank you for another informative video!
You should watch Hollywood grave yards. With Arthur dark. He does a lot of big places And big names. I think it’s Forrest Lawn in Cali.. they have rooms like that. Glass shelving with urns. Really beautiful.
From what I remember of the story, there was a lawsuit, in which Ray Croc won. That meant the McDonald Bros. literally couldn't use their own name in any restaurant venture.
That dude was a thief and he openly boasted about it.
They could have started one called Mickey D's, that's what everyone calls it anyway.
Ray Kroc is an amazing businessman, sure he’s not a nice person, but he got what he came, revolutionized the industry, sold land opposed to stores, and made millions.
The movie The Founder is all about the beginning of McDonald’s. Michael Keaton plays Roy Croc. His portrayal of him made him look like a real jerk.
From the perspective of McDonald brothers.. .
Indeed but a good movie all the same.
His name was Ray, not Roy Kroc.
Maybe because in real life he was.
Umm Karen... The dude was a jerk he boasted in interviews about what he did to those brothers.
They should've locked in royalties on each franchised restaurant ... 1million each was peanuts in comparison of Crocks growth of their idea to the giant it became .. 🤔💪✌️😔
You really do your research that's why I enjoy your channel so much , Awesome Job Always 👏
Leave it to Professor Lamont!
@bob proctor like your last name.... I used to love McDonald's when I was a kid.. I can't eat now ... human flesh I hope not lol
@bob proctor I heard about that
Who the hell would unlike this video…. Really!? Thumbs down to them 🙄
Ray Kroc is a crook on McDonald's from the brothers, to buy a McDonald's 1 million dollar from bank account.
That Pieta statue is absolutely beautiful. Thanks, Lamont!
Ray croc was just a thief. I seriously think the McDonald's brothers should've just kept this business to themselves because it's crazy how back then people's businesses were messed with and how they're continued to be messed with
I have family in that mausoleum and its really beautiful and well kept.
No leaks or mold here!
It definitely looks very beautiful and well kept! Im sorry for you and your family's losses of your loss loved ones.
I love McDonald's cheese burgers 🍔 😋
when they are freshly made they good I eat 1 piece of bread with mine and toss the other bun out the hamburgers are good too🤣
@@lindahines9380 I definitely agree with you on that point ....I like them when they are hot off the grill....
@@lauradarnall227 👍
They taste good but they are horrible for you and who knows what they put in the McDonald's meat anymore. I know their sausage is not sausage
The movie the Founder is a great representation of the story of Maccas as we call it in Australia 🇦🇺
I only eat McDonald's if I'm traveling south and extremely hungry. The only edible food for me is nuggets and egg mcmuffins.
Egg McMuffins are solid! I’m sad they aren’t sold all day because I would only eat those n the fries
@@blacknight2149 no Canadian bacon tho, gotta be regular bacon 😋
The first McDonald's franchise was opened by Art Bender in Fresno, CA in 1955. Art had worked for the McDonald Bros. at their first restaurant in San Bernardino, CA which opened in 1940 and the McDonald's that we know today was opened in 1948. Art, reportedly, sold the first McDonald's hamburger. After securing the first McDonald's franchise, still at the corner of Blackstone Av. and Shields Av., Art opened many more McDonald's in Central California. Around the time when Art decided to slow things down, he started selling his franchises to the parent McDonald's corp. Eventually he sold everything to McDonald's corp. The main office for McDonald's of California is located in the basement of the McDonald's restaurant, also in Fresno, at 1739 Divisadero.
Hello cat whisper from Southampton England before comments get busy
I'm not just saying this Lamont, you capture the people in the videos of deceased people that u r talking about and some reason u get the other UA-camrs, including myself, to say, "I didn't know this" or "I'll be damn, I didn't realize that." So I tip my hat to you sir, ur are a amazing host!!!
The movie named "The Founder" is amazing
Very nice mausoleum too
Hey Lamont, wassup Sir! Thank you for this, RIP to the most awesome iconic brothers & Mr. Crock.
I just like the idea of a Lamont-owned McDonalds with an interesting grave 3AM graveyard “lunch hour” located near a huge and historic graveyard
I like it
I thought the headstone would be a big mac
And all the Lamont's subscribers on his you tube channel would be his customers!
Lamont!! What can l say!! You are the king of story tellers on you tube in my opinion. I've been watching your vlogs for a couple of years now, and you just keep getting better and better!!!, with each one look after yourself and stay safe 👏................
He died six years before the movie, "Supersize Me" came out. Shame. I wonder what he would have thought about the documentary.
What is going on my Uncle 🙌🏿 if only he could see what became of his creation 👌🏿
I don’t go there much but interesting story. Great video!
My very first job was at a McDonald's restaurant. I worked there for 3 years.
Just sat down with my McNuggets and honey...and this came up! What are the chances? LOL!
heart attack ?
Very pretty mausoleum. Thanks for showing us this grave, Lamont.
I've been eating at McDonald's my entire life and didn't know any of the facts. Yes very Interesting! Great video...thanks Lamont!
I say, "What's up you two?" to my dogs when I return home. Now I can't help but say it like you do when you start your videos. I just changed the last bit. I'm channeling you Lamont! 😆🐕🐕🦺
Great video as always! Safe travels! ☮️
I do the same thing! 😂
I have a cat and dog I say that to then sometimes lol
You sure he's not saying
"What's up UA-cam"?
Great history of the Golden Arches. Thank you Lamont for digging it to this history 🙌
I love your videos. I always learn from your videos. You are so knowledgeable about stuff. I think you are always respectful to others people
🙏🏽 to them we have so many fast food options at excellent prices and services. Thank you McDonald’s 🤤
Welcome to Manchester NH!!!! Another Cemetery you should visit while you are here is the Valley St. Cemetery. Lots of Civil War soldiers are in there
I grew up in Inglewood, CA in the 1960s and remember Maurice working at our (one of the original) McDonalds on LaTijera in Westchester area of Los Angeles. Little did I know how famous they were!
Wow you learn something new every day, very interesting and fascinating, thank you Lamont for the story.
My grandfather owned two McDonalds restaurants in Oakland, California USA. My mom and dad worked for my grandfather and we got our share of hamburgers, tater tots and a frosted mug of root beer. Taste nothing like it did back then. My maiden name is also McDonald
Oh wow your a star lol , McDonald's did salad lol, McDonald's no integrity. Your not a healthy option your a nuclear clown feeding us nuclear drug filled death burgers
@@351clevelandmodifiedmotor4 , you don't have to go there to eat! 🙄
Thanks for giving me my first job when I was 15 , I helped out last year for Father's Day I do that every so often when they need help especially after a hurricane I do that also. McDonald's I'm loving it. My condolence to the family I'm sorry for your loss thank you all great creative. Please rest in peace Rip ❤️❤️❤️
I used to work for McDonald's, and it came out that the owner and other employees were (I believe) using the business to launder money. They would make trips to Cali, pick up weed, and bring it back home. The owner got busted with a bunch of weed and guns 😬😂
Ronald McDonald is based on the look of Burger Kings original C.E.O. who came to Croc for advice. Croc was savage
Have you ever thought about going to an Indian burial ground I'm native so I can lay foot on secret it's a family plot. But it's better to go at night time, that's when we go, it's just tradition. But I do want to say you do an awesome job keep up the good work
Appreciate that info. I remember Macdonald's restaurant service ( no drive thru) in the early 70s . You would walk thur the door and be greeted by all the cashier's " Welcome to McDonald's,may we help you". They would take your order, repeat it, give your total. Then would say what amount they received, give you your balance. Here's your order of whatever it was. " Thank you for coming and please come back again. Yes, your orders was always right. Exhale!!!
that's call service
I remember walking up to the front window to order some food. No walk it's at that time in the 60's. What a neat design of the building. That's how it looked in the 60's in cuyahoga falls ohio.
Yes I remember the massive stainless steel counters they had!!!!!
@@jeffreyknight3884 hey fellow buckeye
I'm old enough to remember that their French fries had such a good flavor to them but not now they are just bland tasting potatoes!
Always very informative 👍 love these videos take care 🙂 ❤ xx
It’s also the 2nd biggest real estate holder in the world behind the Vatican.
Wow great story & what a beautiful cemetery thanks as always for sharing from Sydney Australia
Watch the movie the founder. It is the story of the McDonald's brother's and Ray Kroc. He was a greedy crooked man who took advantage of the brother's.. it changed my whole outlook on McDonald's. That is why the brother's died from heart failure having to deal with Kroc.
That is so cool, that yellow McDonalds sign really stands out among all the other urns on that wall :-D
Thank you for showing us the McGrave of Richard McDonald.
My first job was at McDonald's 😂 I was just a young teenager. I will always remember we were busy and a man came in front of me and gave me his order and said I have a taxi waiting please go as fast as possible. I filled it without waiting for the other's and he paid me and handed me $20.00 this is a tip and ran out. 😂😂😂 like I was going to say anything to anyone 😂😂😂
Thank you for what you do showing those people that are resting in peace and sad stories thank you again keep it up my friend
I know you've done McDonald's now and you've done Dave from Wendy's and Colonel Sanders from Kentucky Fried Chicken, hopefully you can do others like Burger King, Taco Bell,Little Ceasars and other franchises cause I learn so much about them from you and getting to see their final resting places is awesome. Like all of your Vlogs, another one I really enjoy Lemont, stay safe and I will look out for more of them.
Thanks, Lamont. Interesting. Happy Thanksgiving. Be safe.
Up until now the only thing I knew about McDonald’s was Ray Kroc. I didn’t know about the McDonald’s family. Very thorough work done by this UA-cam channel. These stories are incredible to watch and listen too.
Gorgeous stained glass in the mausoleum!
RIP mr McDonald and he passed away on my birthday and leave a big legacy behind 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽😥😥😥😥
"McDonald" is Scottish
Another Great video,, You do it every time Lamont.
That Ray Kroc guy was the original Hamburglar. He really fooled the McDonald Bros. But hey, that's business.
Love all your Channels
Rest in peace. Amen ❤️❤️ Rip
I'm a Former McDonald's employee. Worked at one while in high school.
Thanks for Sharing!
Like others, I recommend watching the movie 'The Founder' for understanding the gist of how the McDonald brothers were forced out of their own company by Ray Kroc.
Also, when I was a kid, my mother was GM of three McDonald's all at the same time. We used to get invited to her boss' house for get-togethers. He owned all the McDonald's in the area, and he was LOADED. Huge house, giant pool, finished basement had a dance floor and a full-size bar, jukebox, the works. They were very, very nice people though...
Mcdonald's please bring back the Chicken Ranch Snack Wrap and the Steak and Cheese Bagel!!
That breakfast bagel was off the chain delicious!!
They could sell those steak, egg and cheese bagels all day and I'd buy them.
The McWraps they used to have were really good, I wish they never canceled them
I remember those! I use to get them when I was broke cruising in my Monte Carlo at the Lee traffic circle.
Yes I miss the bacon egg and cheese McDonald's
I live in Pomona California about 30 miles from the original McDonalds in San Bernardino
Actually, Ray FORCED THEM OUT... they didn't willingly sell.... There is a few books on the topic and history and even a movie which is pretty close to the story. Also, you need to stop getting all your input from Wiki Lamont. LOL Apple Pies were not introduced to the Menu until 1968; the same year the Big Mac came out. McDonald's Start was in 1955 and there was only 9 menu items which were; The Hamburger, Cheese Burger, Fries, Milk, Coke, Milk Shake, Root beer, the "Orange-Drink" which we know today as HI-C, and Coffee. For those interested; Ray Kroc managed to steal McD's by taking advice from a man by the name of Harry J. Sonneborn who taught Ray to buy property and then when new McDonald's interests came aboard they would have to pick a location owned by Ray in order to build the McDonald's. They would be leasing the land from Ray for their McDonald's to be built. When this happened this enabled Ray to be able to barrow the money to pay out the McDonald's brothers. Sadly, the agreement was NOT read in full because in that buy-out agreement it stated that the brother's would no longer be able to legally use the word/name McDonald's on any of their current or future businesses because McDonald's would become a trademark owned by Ray. Why? Because the brothers did not know that you could OWN a name and Ray was the one who got the name/word McDonald's trademarked. So, safe to say he went behind their backs. Same thing with their "Speedy System"... the brother's name trademarked it all, but Ray did. The Major Sad Reality is Ray had agreed to pay 1% Royalties to the brother's for as long as McDonald's was in business, but that agreement was made by a simple Hand-Shake which Ray later denied happen. Since the only people in the room was Ray and Ray's own people with the McDonald's brothers (the brothers never got an attorney or anyone else to go with them when they went to sign this agreement stuff), there was no way the brother's could prove this agreement. So, the brother's never seen one penny from the royalty agreement.
Lamont, you have the greatest interesting stories. I now know about McDonald's and wendy's beginning history. Thank you once again for the great footage.
Lamont, thank you for another great video. Everytime I watch you I learn something new.
Could you please do a video on Rod Price? He is buried in New Hampshire.
Rod Price was the lead and slide guitar player in a hard rock band in the seventies and again later in the nineties called Foghat.
His is an interesting story, an excellent guitar player. imo one of the best, and a fantastic human being as well.
He is buried in Laurel Hill Cemetary in Wilton New Hampshire.
