    814 seems confident and relaxed, no aggressive behavior even though you walk in between him and his cows. Magnificent, stately example of the breeding program. Thanks for this one👌👍

    I saw a bull advertised on Craig's list the other day. They were so proud he was an 8 frame score...I choked on my coffee.
    Very happy to have some 814 in my tank!!

    Our calves are looking good. One of our heifer calf looks fantastic. It’s a real gem. Our grass is starting to turn around. We got another three quarter inch the other day. Once we are done mowing our lawn, I’m going to put all the animals together, but I got to break the calves to hot wire and poly braid first. I’ll be on a stay vacation next week so I can keep an eye on the calves. Thanks again for everything you do!

    BEAUTIFUL!!! GREG, what would you think of HIGHLANDER cattle? what about ROMANOV sheep? those are the two breeds i am thinking about, other then some/few laying hens and honey bees to round out my dream farm

    • @gregjudyregenerativerancher
      @gregjudyregenerativerancher  3 роки тому +5

      As long as you have a direct market for them and do not have to bring them into an auction barn. The Highlander cattle have quite a bit of hair, so if you have hot summers, they will need shade.

    • @jeaniepartridge6701

    • @Strevale
      @Strevale 3 роки тому

      The Highlander market has been crazy so you might be paying quite a bit to get good breeding stock. You may also have to look harder for good quality since everyone is breeding them like crazy because they were selling like hotcakes. It may be harder to judge their condition with all that hair.

    Greg, I know you wrote a book on how you got started and how to get leased land. Correct me if I am wrong, but you have not invested in much farm equipment as I understand. I would like to read about your operation so please send me the direction where I can learn the most from you. What ever happen with Cody that you used to do work with from Norwood? I know he wrote a book on ranching 3 hours per day, I found it on Amazon today. My goal is to build me a retirement plan over the next five years were I work my current job and get everything set up in good order so when I walk away I could stay home and garden and raise my cattle like you do. With you raising red cattle instead of black do you get a price deduction when selling since they are not black cattle? Anyway any information you can share would be great.

    Greg, I've watched your channel for a while and I also raise grass-fed beef with a red Angus base. I just wondered how you know which calves are 814's sons with a herd that size and turning so many bulls out? Surely you don't DNA test every calf? Interested to hear how you keep track of your genetics in that system. Thanks.
