Great video guide! I'm 232+ hours in, level 46, and no where even close to completing the main quest. The only Faction quest I've finished is the Freestar Rangers. Like you I went with a more stealthy build, so my character isn't really that strong, so I'm finding weight to also be an issue. I tried the load-up and fast travel to The Lodge trick once or twice, but now I just leave the resources on the ship since they'll be accessible at any Research/Crafting station I try to use. I'm still running into weight issues, but that's my own fault because I love having gun options. Glad you mentioned the books (so of which unlock POI's on Earth) and the "Perk Mags" (that's what they're called in FO4). There are some things I wish they'd done differently, but nothing that has at all truly lessened my enjoyment. Keep up the awesome work.

I just started am at level 33 and over 100 hrs in already. I have only done the main quest to point that you get your first power. Have done nothing else other than side quests and explore. It’s insane how much there is to do in this game. I was actually surprised to find that there are invisible walls that stop you from going past a certain point when exploring planets. I thought you could walk all the way around one if you were dedicated enough…

Very nice guide for beginners. I would mention adding a 2x1 Workshop module to your ship, because then you can use your ships cargo to craft.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but you do run into the problem of all of your resources bing in the infinite storage at the lodge. If you have to go there to get the resources anyway, you might as well do your crafting there.

I discovered this just last night. As long as you are not highlighting an existing map icon on the map, you can place a custom waypoint. All you need to do is move the cursor a tittle off the map icon, and you can place it. The scanner then guides you to the custom instead of the quest marker. It is an easy way to explore zones without having to pull up the map everytime you get turned around.

That's great that someone is playing the game on an Xbox and they are posting on UA-cam. I love the game myself. I'm not really into listening to all the dialogue. Thing I just want to go into face and build up my piloting. When I picked my character, I picked the bounty hunter On an Xbox One S.

You're absolutely right on the ng+ sentiment. Especially if you've invested into ship building and outposts. My main save will probably never see ng+. It's my achievement hound. I started a second save file that isnt focusing on outposts and stuff so I can still experience ng+. Also if you choose bounty hunter as your background, you get the first rank of piloting and boost pack training right off the rip.

Glad I could help! Yeah that storage box in the baseement is what I use exclusively for my resources; all my cosmetic stuff goes into the bedroom one :)

Man, 450+ hours in and I'm already pining for that "brand new to the game" feeling.
Anyways, Mission Boards are your friends and different factions have their own boards. Constellation's is all about discovering unique planetary properties or resources. Freestar Rangers is about keeping order in the Collective. Then there are general purpose ones that give you a variety of tasks to hunting down pirate ships, to transporting cargo or passengers, to setting up supply chains between your outpost(s) and a buyer, and more.
Each mission is fairly approachable and similarly easily digestible. A little bonus xp and some extra scratch is a happy thing.

As soon as you can, install a 2x1 workshop on the Frontier and replace all the weapons with particle cannons. Way too convenient to have the armor and weapon workbenches on hand at all times, and the particle cannons make space combat way easier. No more redirecting power mid fight because you finally dropped the enemy shield.

Great guide, I think your vids are cool. But my tip? Don't watch beginners tips videos before playing a role playing game. My first playthrough especially with a Bethesda game is to simply role play. I completely abandoned the main quest after getting access to the Lodge, and decided to become a freelance bounty hunter. Was this the best way to earn credits? Of course not. But it was sure as hell some of the most fun I've ever had with a game. Through role playing as a bounty hunter I stumbled onto the Mantis mission, not because I saw it on some youtube guide but because the mission description just seemed like an apt mission for a bounty hunter to pursue, and lo and behold it netted me one of the best bounty hunter armor sets and ship in the entire game. My advice for any beginners is just play the game, be Han Solo, or Boba Fett, or Mal Reynolds, or some kind of 24th century David Attenborough or Elon Musk. Worry about "builds" and getting the best weapons or ships etc on a second playthrough. There's just something magical about discovering things for yourself, and a game like Starfield allows you so much freedom to do that, so take full advantage of it!

@@RenfailWhy even bother if all you can manage is "well if you think you can do it better go for it" reply? I was making a genuine effort to connect with another content creator. The fact you have so few subs after so many years on UA-cam should have tipped me off. Maybe work on engaging with viewers in a more positive way. Don't bother replying, I won't waste any more time engaging with your content.

I'm gonna disagree, sorry. My opinion is to start a Character called Blank Slate. From here you want to ignore everything and rush through the NG's as quickly as possible. Don't mess with outpost, ship building, side quests, companions, any exploring or spend any of your skill points. You want to do the main story to collect the artifacts and visit the temple to collect your powers, nothing else. Once you have done this 10 times, save the game and you are now ready to really play the game. Now from this save game you can visit the enchance shop to make/design your character and any other future charaters if you choose a different play style whithout the going though 10+ games on each toon and the end result of that process. This should also prevent the bugs you encounter in your skill trees where you don't gain the benefits of those skill points once you complete a NG+. I would also caution you against getting to wrapped up in outpost building until they fix those bugs as well (stick to around 5 or 6 outposts). With all the bugs and the problems with corrupted saves, you will be thankful to have that NG+10 save to start from should you be one of the growing unlucky players who experience them.
