No, it wouldn't. She didn't graduate. The actual graduates are facing a whole lot that she is not and have made huge sacrifices she knows nothing about. I can tell you that most of the graduates, at least anyone with a high level degree, would be demoralized...whether they show it on the outside or not.

None of these people are "worth" that. That's not their place to shine and it's demoralizing to those who have made huge sacrifices and gone through huge struggles to get actual doctorates. Ask most people who have a real one.

And so many .. and now Taylor Swift. They gift appreciation to those person with many category. Some people or many people not agree with that. I have already graduated from university. And i know how hard to found absheet of paper, with fighting, so many cost is out, how many years i have finished my studied. How many tears are drop, got bulies from friends. My parents doesn't have alot money. Not good memories to remain. But bitter, sweet, sour, and salt. Must passi away. Fighting!

Is it enough to finish only school to get a doctorate?
No its not. But contributing so much to the music industry and winning the artist of of the decade award (not to mention all the other awards) is more than enough to get an honorary degree in fine arts.

The fact that you keep calling an undergraduate AND a Masters degree a "piece of paper" or an “award” in the first place means you are beyond clueless about the back-breaking work it takes to earn them. Many people bust their a$$es in high school to even be accepted into a university program, then spend years earning them, which cost them countless hours of studying and sacrifice, not to mention over $100K in student loans. So for NYU to simply--and "literally"--give a pop tart a Master of Arts for writing a few songs is insulting, if not disgusting, at best.
This is nothing at all about her personally, but I would be very annoyed by anyone without a college degree wearing dress reserved for people with a doctorate while calling themselves a "doctor on paper" telling me anything at my graduation while I spent tons of money and put huge effort into earning a degree (or degrees). She's extremely rich and doesn't have to go out into the job market...doesn't know a thing about what graduates these days are grappling with or facing. I know everyone will tell me how nice and kind she is and how accomplished she is in her field. I know that and acknowledge it. This is not the time and place for her to shine and I'm disappointed that she would accept this. I'm pretty sure that anyone else out there with an advanced degree also will feel actually annoyed or demoralized about this. I think honorary doctorates or degrees were originally meant for Einstein level people. Geniuses in a traditionally academic field who have furthered their field in immense ways. Something for sure is that I've only gone to fairly typical universities and they've tried to get the most legit speakers out there to appear as prestigious as they can. NYU is already full of prestige and can do whatever they want, apparently.
It an Honorary Doctorate, an award of somesort for a person's contributions to the society. Its not a PhD. She can't use it in an academic setting. She's not the first celebrity to accept it and she won't be the last one getting it either. Its a COMMON award given by universities. A fact you would know if you had done some reasearch cause I think you're confused with the distinction.
Also, this award was well deserved. Very much well deserved.

Honorary doctorate is not a degree, it's an honor. Not only celeb that got the honor. There's other people too who got it for their contribution in their respective field. You can read more about honorary doctorate on wiki. There's more in depth explanation about the concept there.

@Noel that's why its call an honour. A degree is when u did some studying n u earn a degree so u can find a job while honour is when u contribute to the society n u get a rememberance. She already made lots of contributions to music and community by creating arts. That's why she was given an honour. She x need to do anything with it, just accept the honour like she accept an awards (of coz she got lots already becuz she's brilliant😉) n give her inspiring speech like she always do 😂
