There is stress at times, but nothing like dealing with distracted drivers on the roads. At least on the river there are less things out there to kill you.
This is the first time I discovered your video, absolutely one of the most enjoyable and relaxing river experiences we have watched, I sure wish I could convince my wife to experience trips like you guys are enjoying.
Well, you might be able to convince her to take a commercial river cruise. American Cruise lines has cruises on the Tennessee and others. They aren't cheap, but you don't have to buy a boat. Of course you won't get up the small rivers that way, but it might help open the door.

Glad you enjoyed it. I considered an AP, but didn't think I would use it most of the time. Pricy too for this little boat. It would have been nice on Kentucky lake, however, where there wasn't much debris in the lake and lots of room (except for the huge tows).

Hey Don, let's see...We locked upbound to Melton Hill on the morning of the 11th. Anchored on the toe of the Island at Eagle bend that night. On the 12th, we made way back down to the dam to lock downbound on the morning of the 13th. Locked downbound to Chickamauga on the morning of the 15th, up and down the Hiwassee on the 16th, back up to Watts bar evening of the 17th, and up though Loudon lock late on the 18th. What a lovely little camper boat! It looks like you have a small outboard from e-propulsion as well, in addition to your 70-horsepower engine. I have one like that on my little boat in Stockholm, Sweden. It's not fast, but it's nice nonetheless. And quiet. Too bad that the season is coming to an end soon.
Thank you! So far, the Spirit has been a good motor. My only gripe is that you can't angle the tiller arm up and out like you can with most outboards. The tiller gets in the way on a small boat where you need to sit near the middle. I probably need a different dinghy. The season here doesn't end until late October, but we do get some fairly warm days during winter for getting out.
When I got out of the Navy in 80, I went to work on Line Boats on the Mississippi Upper, lower, Ohio, Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee and Black Warrior river's. Did it for 9 years and loved it, hard work but so peaceful.

That's a good question Michael. The only restrictions I know of, officially, are environmental. I think those are listed on the TWRD website. No dumping raw sewage, etc. Of course, common sense will tell you not to anchor in the navigable waterway, or near a dam during high rain or storm events. I think TVA may restrict you to two weeks anchored at one spot, but I think that only applies if the boat is not occupied. That's a pretty area over there.
Yes. According to Tennessee law the only requirement is they have to be crossed and able to support the tongue weight if the hitch fails. My trailer is over 20 yrs old and I do think the newer trailers have a spring loaded clasp on the hook. But it's not required by law, at least not in Tennessee.

That sounds about right. That includes all the small streams and creeks.
Yes, that’s river miles not square miles.
Hello! I've tried to contact you thru here many ways with no avail. I love your videos and have recently purchased a Ranger Tug to follow in your wake. I live in Maryville and would love to meet you and the Mrs and maybe enjoy joint cruise. I've got so many questions to ask.
Hi there! Ranger tug, now that's a nice vessel, which model is it? Anyway, you're close by. Drop me an email message and we'll go from there.
That's been the issue. I don't have a viable email address. I've tried here, but it keeps getting kicked back..
I checked and the address is correct in on the "About" info. I'll need to check into that and see what's going on. Does it give a reason why it's coming back? Try alan@jonesworld.net

Awesome! Thank you! That would be a fantastic trip with your kid. Wish I had done that! Keep your expectation realistic. There will be tough days. You'll learn a lot along the way, that's guaranteed. But in the end, it will be some great memories that will last a lifetime.
