Love the sink and the tile floor

It's such an interesting space given how the use changed and the fact that they repurposed the sink. I'm thinking now about leaving it alone as it's own little educational space about how houses transition through time.

Janey - I love hearing you talk about your father and how you loved hanging out with him as a child..It just exudes your love for him and helps us to visualize the experience in your eyes of a child. So Sweet!

I idolized my dad. He was a little quirky, a bit of a mad scientist, trusted people in a childlike way and would give the shirt off his back to a stranger. He was the best human being I've ever known. It made for an interesting childhood (how many six-year old's learn to make explosives in their garage - only for sound and smoke effects) and I wouldn't change a thing.

Saving a piece of the original linoleum and putting it into a frame is such a great idea. I hope that the tiled flooring can be saved, I'm sure you will come up with a good idea as always.

I really loved finding the linoleum. Because the house is so original there was very little to "discover" like they do in some other restorations.

I know , more work and complications, but any chance an artist could do a rendering of what the room looked like with its original linoleum and wall paper? Like you don’t have enough on your plate 🙃 Thank you for sharing!

That's a brilliant idea. You never know. We may have an artist volunteer their time. I'm going to add it to my wish list for the house..

I absolutely love the idea of saving some of the original linoleum in a frame. Would it be possible to fix the floor under the tub from the room below? Removing the tile would be heartbreaking. I'm sure you'll come up with just the right fix.😁❤️🤍💙

Spoiler alert. The tile can be saved but the cause of the crack ended up being kind of a big deal. There are some videos coming about the issue.

I believe that the sink should return to it's original room, and a sink from the period of the remodeled bathroom added to fit the era. A needle shower like Kaleb is installing in his Empire home would make sense as well.

That's kind of where I'm leaning. Those cage showers are crazy expensive. I would love to have one for this house.

I wonder if that bathroom was originally part of the attic and wasn’t a room?
    It’s a beautiful bathroom.
    Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄

I think it was some kind of work room since it had the linoleum floor. I don't have plans for the third floor so I'm not really sure.

The sink should go back into its original position!

I'd love to put it back but the space where it was has changed and it won't fit. I'm trying to figure out what to do but I'm a little back and forth about what to do. Fortunately, I have a long time to think about it.

Would the crack in the toilet affect it's functionality, like would water leak from it, or is it a surface crack and purely cosmetic? Because I hope you're able to save the toilet and not just replace it with something modern.

    • @leaguekempnerhouse
      @leaguekempnerhouse  2 місяці тому +1

I don't know yet. We are having to put modern toilets in areas of high use but would love to keep this bathroom authentic. If it is too cracked to function, we will look for a salvaged, age-appropriate replacement.

@@leaguekempnerhouse Okay, but did those high-use toilets replace anything vintage, or were they just plain toilets from the '80s or something?

That's a huge bathroom with not much in it, love the tiles, should be a fun restoration.
