Thankyou ❤️ for your wise words . I will listen to this video over and over . Lost my Husband of 40+ years ( True love of my life) to cancer . I'm a care giver to my 93 yr old mom ,2 oldest children and grands all living very long distance . 3 yrs ago Out of a need to put Mom and I in safe affordable housing I bought my first home . Tough learning at 61 how to go it alone but with limited freedom . Last year the last child moved to California to join his brother . I'm so happy to see him flying and happy but felt unreasonable abandoned. Then Covid hit . Seemed to be the last straw after 5 + years of stress . Last month has been extra hard after not seeing kids for over a year so far and no end in site . Your story has given me new hope, reason and purpose Thank you ❤️
Sorry to hear of the challenges you’ve faced Mary Lou. These last few months have been tough for many, but especially caregivers like yourself who need & deserve all the support they can get.
Mary Lou. Just wanted to say how your words resonated with me. I too have had those caregiving challenges but not with quite as much loss as you’ve had. My sincere condolences. Can’t imagine how you’re coping in these unprecedented times , especially now being alone after having a loving partner most of your Life. Courage, surely you have no lack of! Just like this woman in this video whose words have also touched me deeply. Hang in there one day at a time is all I can say. That’s how I do it Fortune favors the Bold. Want to wish u the very Best! 👍👏🏻😁🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Mary Lou, Thank you for your loyalty to your husband & now to your Mother. Maybe when this Covid is over 2021 you could plan a trip to the USA??? Better yet maybe the 2 kids could come home for a vacation. Why don't you ask the kids about making a trip home, just maybe they may be a little homesick, I know my nephew finally say so but didn't want to admit it. Stay strong-Stay safe-Wear a mask. NEVER EVER stopping dreaming. You are now in my prayers
@@chris3m98 that would be perfect but with the pandemic travel by plane here from one coast to the other in the US when dealing with one so old and frail as mom is not medically advised . I truly look forward to it though ❤️
As a new gran I cannot imagine that loss, and I am so sorry, and I am so impressed with your buoyant spirit and the beauty that you have surrounded yourself with and have provided as a retreat for your family. Many blessings to you, and hopes for a long, peaceful life in beautiful Sverige.

Twenty grand?? My goodness, I need to leave America and get my butt over there. Yes get some chickens, a rescue cat and dog, till a garden and enjoy your life in that adorable cottahe
I am fairly sure that was in British Pounds, but even at the current $1.35 dollars to a pound, still a nice price on a cottage from a USA perspective (just Sweden is a lot further away for the USA grandkids)
In the North of Sweden you can find cottages for 5000$ a 3 bedroom one with big garden. The only thing is that the bathroom is outside and shower also. But you have great nature, lots of fresh air .
I just fell upon your video and it's the strangest thing because I have always wanted to live on an island and I keep thinking about it, but I'm a senior and alone and so I tell myself I'm just dreaming. I admire you for having the courage to take the plunge and do what you really wanted to do. Congrats and thanks for the inspiration at a very depressing time in the US. 🌼🌸🌺
Thank you so much Jennifer. Your home and property are lovely and your decision to change is so brave. You have inspired me so much with the five year challenge. I am turning 60 in a few months and I want to envision who I want to be in five years, living a healthy loving creative life. Looking forward to more posts from your journey.
I really needed to hear this encouragement right now. I bought a house near my family in France, due to sign the final papers and pay for it in March. And along comes Covid19. I go from anger to depression while continually checking the status of Americans traveling to France. I am fortunate to have several people in my life that fully support my decision. Thank you!

It takes hard work to keep a steady mental outlook on life. Thank you very much for posting this video. Enjoy the cottage. It does look lovely.
Thanks for this. The huge financial industry retirement machine relies on and uses fear to motivate us to plan for our futures. So refreshing to see someone who plans using joy.
What a beautiful message! My nana was born and raised in Sweden so I felt pulled to click on your video. I am so sorry for the loss of your granddaughter. It’s wonderful that you found the strength to follow this dream. I am looking forward to watching your channel. There is something very touching and compelling about the way you speak and share. Thank you for sharing your walk with us 🌸
I’m glad I stumbled onto your video today...5 years ago I lost my sister to cancer, I lost my job which I loved (but not my supervisor), I lost my 10 year relationship, and then 10 months later my mom passed suddenly. It was the hardest time in my life. I also just lost my dad 6 months ago but am handling it much better. My perspective on life has changed greatly. Thank you for this video and I’m so so sorry for the loss of your granddaughter and your other family members, I cannot even imagine how it must feel. I hope you create many happy memories! Sorry, I just needed to let you know how inspiring your video was.
Thanks Tammie - I’m so sorry to hear of your losses. I don’t think I mention it in the video, but six months before we lost my granddaughter, my father passed away, and we had been helping to care for him for a couple of years before that. Thinking of you as you try to move forward in your life
What a spectacular location, going to watch your cottage tour now, pleased you took the bull by the horns and purchased a new adventure in life. Your grandchildren will love the freedom their happy gran is sharing with them.
This is a wonderful example of making lemonade from lemons. Such a courageous example for your children and grandchildren. Blessings for you, your family and friends. You are an inspiration.
Your video came up on my feed and I appreciated the message you shared. I am in the same stage of life as you, so it hit home with me. Your cottage is beautiful and in a lovely setting. It’s quite amazing that you were able to purchase it with a half acre property for so little! Good for you for doing something courageous like this! I looked at your channel and was pleased to see you are a Christian, I am subscribing. I live in the US.
You are a really strong, amazing person and are inspiring me too! In 2017 I was happily living in a rural farmland area with my husband of 30 years, who had retired recently. We had finally built our dream home, surrounded by nature on our large 35 acreage of woods. We were so happy! One morning, he got up early and went out to start his usual outdoors work. I was in our home doing morning chores. When he didnt come in after I texted him, I decided to go help him with whatever chores he was doing. I found him back in our woods, crushed beneath a massive tree that had fallen on him. In that instant ....my beloved husband was gone and my life changed forever. That first year is a blur. I recall having to wade thru the fog in my head each morning just to make myself dress and remember to eat. I had to sell our rural dream home and find a house in a town far away. It was like a nightmare that wouldnt end. I would hear a phone ring and my first thought was...oops, my hubby is calling from work to tell me he will be late for dinner...then I would have to feel that searing pain as I grieved his death. But I slowly made myself survive. I rented an apartment, then blindly bought a house in a town. Now in my 3rd year without him, I have decided city life is not for me. I am selling as soon as economy gets better. I have always yearned for warmer winters, so I am planning to check out areas around beaches. Several family members say if I move to warmer climates, they will too. So that is our new adventure! Life is too short not to work at making your dreams come true! So I cheer you on with your swedish home adventure!
I’m so sorry for your loss Mary, what a very challenging time you have been living through. I hope you’ll find the perfect place, warm and close to the beach, to make your home

Hello Jennifer, I just wanted to say that the message in this video touched me deeply. I'm about to uproot my life to move to the UK, and as you know, it's scary to do such things. But I do think that 5 years from now, I will be happy with the decision as I also want to be investing in joy. So, thank you for your positive and encouraging message!
I have to agree about the UK. Over here. If you do well. People want to pull you down. If I could I would have moved to Australia years ago. But I stay for my mum.
I am so happy to have found your channel! I do believe I was"guided" to it just as I needed it most. My great grandma and grandpa came to America from Sweden. We were raised with such a fond love of Sweden but as Americans with Swedish blood. Such wonderful family people the Swedes were. Thank you for sharing. And PS put a TOMTE in your garden to protect your farmstead.
Condolences - 57 and contemplating next phase of life now stalled because of pandemic. You’ve given me food for thought thanks for posting. Congrats on your cottage wish you long life and happiness.
This came up on my suggest videos after I searched for a cottage in Sweden and I am so glad I found it. Very heart warming....perhaps when I buy one you can come over for a coffee! Cheers and thanks.
I'm sorry about your loss, but so happy that you managed to move on with things in your life that can bring you more happiness now! You're so welcome to Sweden! In what part of Sweden do you live? How has your life been during the Corona? I guess it might have been a challenge to settle into a new country during this state of social distancing? I hope you have found your way through the challenges and again välkommen, as we say in swedish!
We did the same thing. Except we moved to New Mexico USA. We bought some land and a ranch home and we did it a year ago. Absolutely love it. It’s been a true blessing. Congratulations and wishing your family much joy.
What a gorgeous place! I hope you've been enjoying the place and I' d love to see an update on it! One day I'd love to purchase an off grid cottage and grow my vegetables and fruit, and devote my time to creativity and the things that make me happy.
Thank you for sharing your courage, taking your brave steps isn’t easy to do and yet you did. My deepest sympathy for your loss. Keep strong and keep making family memories in your new property. My well wishes from Ohio USA.
This sweet woman has stolen my heart. Would that we all could plan forward and not just day to day. Bless you and your family. Hello from Georgia in America
I can’t tell you how perfect your video was. I found it at a time when I’ve been wrestling with a life change decision. I’ve spent all day reflecting and am now ready to take the leap. Thank you so very much.
@Maddy Grayson Hi Maddy. I spent years/decades working as a trained professional chef- a career that had me all up and down the east coast. When I could-finally- semi-retire, I needed a bit of a push. Long story short, I found what I'd imagined as my dream since 5th grade(ish), and now I'm living it. Lots of work, but in the place I love most, and doing what I love best. Some things take time (this took over 40 years to materialize), and you must be patient. And trust yourself, even if you feel a bit scared. Be flexible. Be adaptable. Be honest with yourself. p.s. I worked w/ both a couple and their friend this past summer- all from LA. They were happy to be *here*. Good luck- and cheers from Maine!
@@eba44 what a courageous woman you are!! We often talk about moving when my husband retires (he's 62) the only concern is property taxes (we live in the suburbs outside of Chicago) are the taxes high in your area?
@@asapasiafury4100 Certainly no worse than Charlottesville-- where I moved from. And completely do-able, at least for me. Maine is not for everyone, and honestly I think many people imagine they'd love something woodsy and wild and simplified. The truth is, that if you haven't spent a good deal of time- happily- actually living in that (personal, imaginary) place, you may not do well. And at this point in life, it's not a decision to take lightly. I grew up in New England, and vacationed in Maine, so I felt like I was coming home rather than adventuring 'out'.
I've always dreamed of doing something like buying a cottage somewhere. So sorry for all the tragedies in your live. God bless you and put your trust in Jesus Christ. Our lives our short, but eternity is long.
I have so many thoughts going around in my head. First of all I am deeply sorry to hear about your loss, that could not have been easy at all. Then your decision to do a radical move like that, I truly admire your courage. This cottage is absolutely lovely and the grounds are beautiful. This place surely is appropriate for convalescing. I can imagine the peace that's surrounds you. I certainly hope to see and hear from you in the next 5 years..God bless.
Thank you for this video :) you've encouraged me to take a step back and review where I am and where I'd like to be. I hope you have many happy times with your family at your gorgeous cottage!
You spoke to my heart! Thank you. I know this will be something you won't regret! Congratulations. Sometimes we hear a message when we need it the most. Your video was that for me. Laura
Good plan. I need to have a sit down with myself about where I want to be in 5 years...at age 62 now. My husband is 63 but he's never wanted to go and do things more than maybe 2 weeks. He's happy with the same spot...I'm not sure I am. Life is very short and our window of movement physical gets less as we age.

Oh great! I'm excited and looking forward on the same project. All in the works now.
Hope it goes well for you Nicole!
Are you mad moving to the UK?
Be prepared to convert to the religion of, "peace." Watch/follow Katie Hopkins.
Not sure why anyone would want to move to the UK...a state rapidly moving to fascism. We've just quit the UK and NEVER want to go back.
I have to agree about the UK. Over here. If you do well. People want to pull you down. If I could I would have moved to Australia years ago. But I stay for my mum.
Great personality, great move. I love the positivity and the mentality of this beautiful human. ❤️☺️
What a wonderful heritage Sue!
Wow I’m blown away by your courage to do this!! I’m looking forward to seeing you make those memories you talked about!
Sorry about your loss.
But you have made me smile, that’s one hell of a move! Good on you, hope it all works out.
The place looks Awesome.
Take care

I'm sorry about your loss, but so happy that you managed to move on with things in your life that can bring you more happiness now! You're so welcome to Sweden! In what part of Sweden do you live? How has your life been during the Corona? I guess it might have been a challenge to settle into a new country during this state of social distancing? I hope you have found your way through the challenges and again välkommen, as we say in swedish!
This message is so beautiful! So sorry for these very, very difficult losses! ❤🕊❤🙏❤
You have really found a little piece of heaven
Thank you, I really do think I have!
We did the same thing. Except we moved to New Mexico USA. We bought some land and a ranch home and we did it a year ago. Absolutely love it. It’s been a true blessing. Congratulations and wishing your family much joy.
You are so amazing, wise & brave. Wish my mother had a quarter of your courage. She gave up long ago.
This message was for me! Love your channel. Love the spoken word videos. A breath of fresh air! Keep doing what you are doing. Blessings to you!
Thanks for your encouragement Kathy!
“Do things that you know you won’t regret doing in your life.”- profound.
Gosh, if only the two things I want most in life weren't at such odds. I feel frozen with inaction because the compromise means I get neither. 😔

What a gorgeous place! I hope you've been enjoying the place and I' d love to see an update on it! One day I'd love to purchase an off grid cottage and grow my vegetables and fruit, and devote my time to creativity and the things that make me happy.
Keep dreaming Lena!

Glad you came across the video at just the right time Julie
Beautiful house and surrounding. Beautiful garden. So cheaply, unbelievable. This area is stunning.
Long dark cold winter....heating $$$$.
Sweden 🇸🇪, full of trees = free firewood 🔥 😉

Loved this video, Jennifer. It felt like I was listening to an old friend. I love your cute cottage. 💗
What a wonderful home. Congrats on your change and your courage.
There are some things I really would like to do, yet don’t from former habits and fear. This was inspiring.

Thank you for this video .I think a lot of us are trying to figure out life in this new and trying time. You are an inspiration.
Thanks for your kind words Mikal. As for trying to figure out life, that seems to true for many of us!
Your timing could not have been more perfect! Likewise, I moved to Maine, USA in 2019. Best thingI've ever done. Ever. Good luck to you!!!
So glad to hear you’re enjoying life, after making the decision to move!
@Maddy Grayson we moved to new England from Angeles 20 years ago and never looked back
What a beautiful setting!
Brava to you for following your dream!
I've always dreamed of doing something like buying a cottage somewhere. So sorry for all the tragedies in your live. God bless you and put your trust in Jesus Christ. Our lives our short, but eternity is long.
Make that dream come true! You live only once
Yes this is only a journey . John 3 v16
right!!!!!!!!!!!! i wanna do this too!!!
I am very happy for you! Decisions for joy are valuable
Fantastic! So thrilled for you. What a beautiful place to find your joy.
Thank you for this video :) you've encouraged me to take a step back and review where I am and where I'd like to be. I hope you have many happy times with your family at your gorgeous cottage!
Thanks Grace - can't wait to spend time there next summer with friends and family!
