Nice Setup, really like your roof modification! I just purchased a 2023 RMAX 4 and I would like to get more information about how you lowered the roof/ROPS. In your video you mention 5 1/2" off the back in the curved area, and 2" off the middle brace and you ratch strapped it down and welded it up. Did you have to modify the front pillar post at all? or heat the metal to bend it down? Do you have any photos or video of that project? Any other details about the lowering would be appreciated! Thanks
thank you!, nothing was done with the front pillar. you just have to loosen the bolts to let it drop. i will say make sure you have the rear door latches in place prior to pulling the ROPS into its new location. it will make future you much happier. i have some photes from when i did it all not much if any video of it.
Getting ready to purchase a 2022 4 seat XTR like yours. Love all your mods. cant wait to see some of your riding. I think some of your riding will be like mine in Georgia and Alabama
I have to point out the obvious, it's a sport utility, it cannot be compared to a pure sport machine like the X3 and RZR, it's an exact comparison to a Polaris General, Can-Am Commander and a few others not worth mentioning. It's a hell of fun to ride, I have the Rmax4 XTR and I couldn't imagine myself riding any other machine in this category. It has the payload of 600lbs and a tow cap of 2k, something that far exceeds the pure sport machines. Weller did a hell of a job with their tune as well, definitely wakes up the inner beast.
at this point i use mine just for gauges... i use either my mounted ipad or phone for music... now running full headsets... i really need to get back into filming. new kid and crap laptop for editing is just making things harder
We just purchased a '22 R Max LE 4 seater. I would agree about front seat leg room. I have a prosthetic right leg that doesn't lend itself to manipulate the gas and brake and as a result I won't be driving it. Not happy about that. So at this point I'll just have to be content to ride as a passenger, drink beer while my wife drives!
I have the same machine. I wouldn’t mind a little more leg room, a bit more recline in the seating position, and a better touch screen system. If it had access to Google play or Apple car play, then that would be way better. Even the Harley’s have that feature. But performance wise, it goes from race car to mountain goat in basically a flick of a switch. It’s awesome.
1000% agree about the Adventure POS. I have an iPad mini and I’m looking to mount it as well. I’d like to see some detail on how you have your mount. I was thinking of doing a drop down using a ram 2.25” ball system mounted near the rear view mirror. I also ordered the factory bumpers last week. I like them better t than that one you mentioned. I’ll have to figure your seat mods out too. You did an awesome job on the cage too. Keep up the RMAX videos, you got another subscriber.
just saw this reply. i can do a more in depth video on the seat mod, and my ipad mount. i have seen a couple pretty awesome cage mounts for a heads up display as well. but watch for your request! seems lots of people ask about my seats... next video coming is a video about an elcamino !
Can u tell me how u done the modifications to the seat to get to Lean back? I don’t like the seating straight up. that’s the only thing I don’t like about my rmax
I am considering the rmax4 as an option but I have some small questions and doubts like these questions that I do not have a concrete answer thanks to all and very good videos, greetings to all 1. How loud is the cabin when going fast? 2. Is it too noisy to ride without a helmet? 3. What do you think if the rmax4 1000 gets the complete 4 doors so that you are away from the mud, 4. Having the cabin completely closed with the accessories for the doors that they use for places with snow, would the cabin be very noisy for you and your passengers? In my country you can ride without a helmet and my fear is that the noise from the engine in the cabin will be very annoying for me and the passengers, what can you tell me about it?
1. ill say that i can not hear my wife very easily when riding over 35mph. but i now have installed headsets to cancel alot of the noise and to be able to hear my passenger 2. i ride without helmets. and the first 850 miles on my machine were rode with out any head coverings 3.not sure i understand this question. 4. im betting with full enclosure it would be rather loud inside but i cant speak for that as i do not have a full enclosure
I've watched your video several times. Thank you for posting! Are all your tires the same size? If so, what size tire did you end up going with? Thanks, Curt
thank you! i really appreciate it and need to get back at this! yes all tires are the same size with exception to the spare. spare is a factory tire. rest of my tires are 32 x 10 x 14
What size tires do you have on it. Did you have any trouble with the tires rubbing before you added the new springs. especially in the rear. I just bought a 2022 rmax4 and added 15" wheels with 32" tires. It looks good but I feel it may be to low in the rear and im afraid it may rub. what are your thoughts.
i have 32" tires on it, i didnt have new tires prior to putting springs on. it all kind of happened at the same time. i have seen people running 32s with stock springs with minimal to no rubbing in the rear depending on how true your 32s run to size.(what tires did you end up buying ?) you could always adjust the preload on your stock springs or upgrade to bandit tenders if you dont want to drop the money on a whole spring kit.
@@thedoallshop24 For my rmax4 1000 I bought the maxxis carnivores 32" on 15" wheels with 40mm off set I believe. What would be the benifit of doing the whole Schmidty racing spring kit vs just bandit tenders. is it worth it.? I'm new to this. I'm looking for tire clearance and a more comfortable ride on rough terrain
so if my memory serves me correctly the carnivores run a little under sized. (in your favor)... the will likely not rub with stock spring setup. Schmidty racing springs give you a true dual rate setup. really nice for the fast paced riding i do. took alot of the rear end bucking out of it and improved ride quality like crazy in my opinion. there are some trade offs though... you do gain some height and with that height it does put a little more angle into the CVs. i personally think they will be fine. with the bandit tenders you are just replacing the top spring on the coilover.... again you still gain a little lift them as well.
i did remove the slides, but im a mildly bigger guy...6'2" 235lbs... so my seat was all the way back to begin with... i check that the wife was good with the seating position before i made it final and all was good from there
i have no experience first hand with the general. might have parked next to one at camp.... ill ask around and see if i cant get a general to my shop... as for in cab heat during hot days in the summer it was noticeable but didnt make me want to get out of it. if you were to put a drink in the cup holder your drink would be warm...in the winter you dont notice it all.
Any issues with axles breaking? Particularly on easy riding and not even really giving it hell? Seems like there are several videos on here with people having issues with minimal use on these rigs. Considering getting one, but not if axles break in light use. Nice video and setup.
havent broke one yet. alot of the broken axles ive seen are from people giving it hell on pavement. i have 1200 miles on my machine and they arent the easiest miles. overall super solid machine
i assume you are referring to the front bumper/ brush guard. that is a factory yamaha unit there. but i do see there are some pretty awesome options out on the market now.
Does it have a dump bed. And why not the can- am commander. Purchase the 2022 commander Xmr and Is a complete beast.. they call it their expeditionary unit . Just curious why you made that choice
the Rmax 4 seaters do not have a dump bed, but the two seaters do. i bought my machine more for the sport side than the utility side. I was also after short wheelbase, the commander looks to have a 120.6" wheel base (according to the google box). The Rmax 4 seater comes in at 90.2". i would likely never use the dump bed if i had the option. when i was looking my list went in this order..... 4 seater, wheelbase, performance, ride quality, options
6'2, was curious about moving the seat forward as it's already like a elementary school chair. Passenger side seems to be more roomy. Also cage chop looks great! Thanks! I'll give it a go
Yeah man only a Polaris will go with that Ford 👍 the RMax is far to reliable and high quality to be paired with the Ford. While the Polaris is guaranteed to breakdown as much as the Ford and even known to spontaneously catch 🔥! Glad I could help man 👍

It’s way cooler than the Commander. That thing would keep coffee hot during the winter.
