I held a Brazilian black at an expo a few months ago then I got my first t-A. Seemanni a month ago. Now I have 3 arboreals lol. I was terrified of even the smallest spider. So glad I’ve gotten over my fear(for the most part) and I can enjoy this hobby
Thank you thought my spider was sick or something but it makes sense cause he just ate a day ago and his hairs are going away and he’s becoming a different darker color and he’s also tryna make a burrow so he’s tryna molt 😭 this is gonna be his first molt since being with me
My b.hamorii hasn't molted on over a year. A little annoying. She was much more consistent last year. I hope she molts soon though so I can decide if she is ready for a custom built enclosure.
I’ve got a Costa Rican zebra knee had her nearly 3 weeks and she explored for about 10 min now she just hides at back of hide and hasn’t eaten yet or drank any water from dish
Thankyou for this video! Got a bit worried about my costa rican zebra, he is my first T and has never flicked hairs so I worried abit when he had two small bald spots, he also hasn't eaten and has a swollen abdomen
Very helpful; I'm super inexperienced and I was wildly concerned about my C Versicolor sling. It's abdomen is huge and it runs away when presented with food. It hasn't eaten in 3 weeks.
It can be very stressful when your pet doesn’t eat you always feel like you are doing something wrong! I’m glad i could ease your worries! (Also awesome tarantula, they are one of my favourites)! 🤩😁
I got my first spider about 2-3 months ago, he is a pink salmon, he’s been refusing food and seems like he’s gotten fatter. So I didn’t want to assume he was sick so this video was very helpful
I’m a new keeper. I’ve got a G Pulchripes that is around the 2” mark (haven’t measured it). I’ve only had it for about three weeks now. It was really fat when I bought it and the seller said that he figured it would molt pretty soon. It spends most of its time just chilling outside of its burrow. It’s eaten twice since I’ve gotten it and now it’s refusing food. I guess it either has to be premolt or just a hunger strike but I is a bit nerve racking. It’s abdomen is still a pretty good size but definitely not fat anymore. I haven’t noticed any changes in abdomen color yet (it’s only been on food strike for about five days). It’s definitely more skittish than it was before. It used to just scrunch itself to be small when I opened the lid but now it has actually bolted into its burrow. No hair kicking at all though (thank God). I have provided it with a bottle cap water dish so I’m not really worried about it. If someone reads this and wants to voice their opinion, be my guest. I’m guessing that it’s going into premolt
Chris Hatton I can do Poecilotheria Regalis or Chilobrachys fimbriatus within the next couple of weeks! which would you prefer? Thank you for your suggestion 😁
Thank you this help me a lot with my greenbottle blue I’m first time tarantula mam he r she stop eating about 2 half weeks ago I be try find out how long it take them molt and I got sling stop eating to happy I find your video ❣️
A couple of years ago I had rather bad arachnophobia I was absolutely terrified of spiders and tarantulas I got over my fear too I found this very interesting how often do they molt and does the amount depend on the type of spiders
I have a curly hair and I'm really new to spiders, mine has a coconut hideout and she has covered the entrance with dirt and web does this mean she's molting?
Hi buddy was after some advice. I have a sun tiger which was always out on display, shes probably a juvenile and I have gave her a cork bark with two wholes and she has webbed both entrances and has not came out for over 6wks? Is this pre molt behaviour?? Many thanks for any advice
Chris Hatton Hi Chris, this does sound like premolt behaviour I have had tarantulas go into hiding for months before! You can still offer food once a week but just be sure to remove it the morning after you put it in if the tarantula hasn’t taken it. I know sun tigers are notorious for being very secretive.
My tarantula moulted 2 weeks ago, and i fed my tarantula today, after a few hours I checked it's abdomen and it has a bid black spot, what does it mean?
I got a Brachypelma boehmei last week and it’s blocked off it’s hide with substrate I did notice that it had a bald patch on its abdomen so it’s either in pre molt or molting I was just wondering how long it could be in there?
Dominic Gibson depending on the size it could be weeks or even months just be sure to keep the water dish topped up! Mine is in premolt again too and hasn’t eaten for 3 months now!
@@ArachnoDan thanks a lot it’s like 1.5 inch maybe a little more it’s not too big but I seen it burrowing this morning at the side of its hide then it just filled the burrow back up it hasn’t touched its water for 3 days should I be worried?
my turantula is now 3 weeks in pre molt. Since i got the turantula (1 month 1 week ago) i never saw him using its web. he/she is a small turantalula just like in the video. will it use its web during (lay a mat of web) molt? and when is he or she gonna molt?
Good question… that i haven’t got an answer for 😂 an imminent molt is when the abdomen goes black, when the tarantula stops eating this could be classed as the start of a premolt. It could Also mean the tarantula is just full.
@@ArachnoDan I was just wondering cause I have an a seemani who’s sealed off her burrow A month and a bit ago thought nothing of it cause she’s never very hungry anyway but looked into her burrow cause it’s exposed to the glass and she her abdomen was black I was surprised to say the least it’s been about 2 years since she molted 😂
My juvenile B albopilosum just refused food, has a huge abdomen, looks off colour and has a slight bald patch, I think it's in premolt, sooo excited!
This video was extremely informative in comparison to some of the other videos I’ve watched over this topic thank you and keep it up!
3:10 such a beautiful spider!

Chris Hatton for sure! I’ll do it that way then!

I have a red knee tarantula and she/ he has a bold spot in the abdomen, I’m really scared that it might be dying
No need to worry, it's common that they scratch hair off their abdomen, which leaves a bald spot. It will regrow after molting. :)
