I wonder what her career would’ve been like and what she would be like now if she was still alive. Because i know she also was doing some acting like right before she passed away as well.

@@finefeatheredfriend9240 I loved Aaliyah.. but this isn't completely true. Janet is the considered the "blueprint" for young female performers (especially if they were black). Aaliyah modeled herself after Janet Jackson which is the reason I loved her. Janet doesn't get the respect she deserves for how many young girls during that generation (including myself that she influenced). Like alot of people...the Jacksons were an an influence. It's also how Janet's oldest nephew was able to get in this video. He's the one driving the motorcycle.

This song changed the sound of R&B💯 Aaliyah took a chance on a then relatively unknown Timbaland & Missy Elliott and their careers took off after this. Everyone wanted/still wants this sound. Everyone from JayZ, Normani & Cardi B, Nipsey Hussel, etc.. have sampled this song. However, some radio stations wouldn't play this song because of the crickets and the fact that this song didn't sound like anything back then because its so ahead of its time (1996). It had a completely fresh sound. Atlantic records wanted to remove the crickets from the background but they hid the masters so they couldn't😂 The guy throughout the video is "Pony" singer, Ginuwine. This was such a new sound when it first came out. Production was avant-garde and everyone was into it. So catchy. The fast/slow beat was such a departure from the standard R&B rhythm. This changed everything in the R&B game. Let's not even get into her style, way of movement and natural charisma. She was THAT GIRL. I miss her so much. 😭
