  • Jansen takes a look at the clever Clacton Bomber rig, one that he hasn't used for many years but can be very successful. Here are the components you'll need to build it-

I used to use the bomber rig a lot as you say back in the 90’s early 2000,s always used with an impact shield, don’t know why I stopped using it caught me a lot of fish. I use an up and over or a drop down rig these days with a shorter snood at the top. Thank you for reserecting this rig, think I might make a few up and give them another go.
Incidentally, I’m old school and still use impact shields to this day, I know they are bulky compared to modern bait clips but fail safe release every time, and importantly where they are free to slide with only the rubber tube any discrepancies in the rig during fishing can be adjusted out by moving the shield on the rig body

Good one to use with an angel clip (i think its called?) so when clipped down ready to cast, the baits are either side of the rig body, flies nice and straight then, rather than clipping them both into an impact lead, impact sheild etc

Hi Jansen, looks good, have you ever used a small up and over rig at the bottom clipped to a long pulley at the top? The pully part generally benefits from small hooks to aid casting. Find that it's like a loop rig but can be effective for rough ground

I haven’t, but a second snood would prevent the pulley from working?

@@VealsMailOrder2898 yea I know what you mean, I've had a tinker with lengths and if it's a long pulley it pulls the u&o out of the way and visa versa depending on which one gets the heavy fish. Might be some issues if there's a double hookup, but wanted to mention, will send you a dm with a vid if that's ok, there might be a place for it

@@panoskaramani1806 Yes, it was Richard Holgate. He used it to win the 1992 SAMF Masters at Southwold.

I thought Richard Burt was the original one.
